Welcome back to Muse Room! I know it’s been quite a long time but I am so excited to be back talking to people that inspire me. This podcast is going to be a bit different going forward. If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw that I changed my handle to @museroomtable. I am diving into something that I’ve always loved and that is food. Cooking is something that has fascinated me since I was a child and it’s something that makes me really happy. So from here on out everyone you hear from on this podcast will be somewhat related to the world of food - whether that is an avid home cook, professional restaurant chef, food blogger, you name it. Starting out I am going to keep this relatively simple. I ended up putting a lot of pressure on myself with Muse Room when I first started and with me being a one-woman show, I need to keep my sanity in check. So for now, I am going to try (keyword being try) to commit to a new episode every other week, and then we’ll take it from there. If there is someone you want me to interview please let me know by either emailing me at museroompodcast@gmail.com or sending me a DM on Instagram @museroomtable. This week I am sharing a conversation that I had with a friend of mine, Ann Marie Elaban. She’s a fellow (former) Bon Appétit fan (we’ll get into what that means in the episode), lover of baked goods, and an aspiring food stylist. She doesn’t call herself a food stylist but I think she should. Her photos are GORGEOUS. Head over to the show notes on my website to see the photo of an egg salad toast that Ann Marie mentions in this episode or just go follow her out on Instagram @annmarieelaban. In our conversation we talk about: Her first memory in the kitchen How to cook delicious food with what you have in the kitchen (I.E. the one time she made a shepherd’s pie in her tiny NYC kitchen) The power that spices have for making use of everything in your fridge How the pandemic has influenced her cooking and eating habits Her process for styling food and take photos of her food Her love of baking Why we can no longer “stan” Bon Appétit And loads more! Click here to get the full show notes with links to anything Ann Marie mentions AND the recipe of the week! If you’re a returning listener of Muse Room Podcast, THANK YOU for sticking with me. If you’re new, welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. Did you enjoy this episode? If so, please consider leaving a review on Apple Podcasts. Today's episode is a long one and it is a good one. This week's muses are Gia and Alexis, the leaders of Creative Babes Cleveland. I met up with them both for coffee back in October because I was curious about what they were doing and I immediately felt a connection towards them. Since that coffee date I attended two of the Creative Babes Cleveland events and I really just can't get enough. It's like a sleep over but for adults...and without the sleeping over. Words that I think of when I think of hanging out at Creative Babes are cozy, warm, gooey and magical. If you haven't been to one I highly recommend it. I was filled with so many good feelings when they both agreed to come and chat with me on the podcast. We ended up meeting up at Alexis's house on a Sunday morning and it was very on brand. Cozy and magical. We sat on the couch, drank coffee and chatted all things Creative Babes. I'm so excited for you to hear our conversation. Enjoy! Some of the things we talk about in the conversation are: -How Gia and Alexis met and how they fell in friendship love -How Creative Babes was born and how they got the idea to bring it to Cleveland -What it is like being a creative, trying to figure out what you want to do with your life...the options are endless! -Their current inspiration -What it is like working with your best friend -Female friendship AND MORE If you would like to connect with Gia and Alexis here's how: -Follow Creative Babes Cleveland on Instagram -Follow Alexis on Instagram -Follow Gia on Instagram -Check out the Website Connect with me: -Follow me on Instagram -Check out my website -Send an email to museroompodcast@gmail.com -I am booking clients for podcast management. This week on Muse Room Podcast I've decided to share a conversation that I had on the other podcast I host (Neos Dance Theatre Podcast). Neos Dance Theatre is the professional dance company that I dance with. It's a contemporary ballet company founded by Bobby and Brooke Wesner in Oberlin and Akron, Ohio. I started to create a podcast for Neos a few months ago and had a conversation with DeMarcus Akeem Suggs who is the Director of Education and Outreach for Neos. He moved to Cleveland in August to open a pre-professional dance school for the company. Normally I won't crossover between podcasts but I just thought that Muse Room listeners would enjoy this conversation as well. We chat about how he found dance, what his professional career was like, what it took to get a dance school up and running, how he hopes to impact the dance community and so much more. Notes from the show: -I ask him how him and Bobby met, which if you aren't familiar with Neos, you may not know who that is. He is the Artistic Director and Co-founder of Neos Dance Theatre. -Favorite book right now is a book of poetry called, "Approaching the Fields" by Chanda Feldman -Favorite song right now is "Brooklyn in the Summer" by Aloe Blacc -Some other musicians that he is really into are: -Lianne La Havas -Gregory Porter -Ben L'oncle Soul -Samm Henshaw Connect with DeMarcus on Instagram: @demarcusakeem Connect with Neos Center for Dance on Instagram: @neoscenter4dance Connect with Neos Dance Theatre: -Neos Dance Theatre on Facebook -Website: www.neosdancetheatre.org -Instagram: @neosdancetheatre Some cool things happening with Muse Room: -I have a newsletter!
