Thank you for tuning into another episode of Muse Room Table! I am so happy that you are here, whether you’re returning, or just joining us. This is a community for cooking and food enthusiasts whether you’re a professional restaurant chef, home cook, or simply cooking curious. This place is for you! In this episode of Muse Room Table, I am talking to Dena Fisher. I first met her at The Cleveland Flea when she catered lunch at a co-working event I attended. Since then I have followed her journey online and we have slowly become Instagram pals. She is a genuine and cheerful gal who loves good food, and is passionate about providing it to her family and friends. For Dena, cooking isn’t just about mastering the perfect crispy chicken thigh and it’s not all about the Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt you may or may not have in your pantry. While we talk about both of those things during this episode in grave detail, cooking for Dena is about bringing people together, whether that’s at your family table, or over Zoom. For her, food is about creating community. In this episode, I hope you get a taste for that community that Dena refers to. We talk about so much: Her inspiration from seasonal foods Her obsession with a good “matchstick” cut (knife cuts really can change the texture of your food which will in turn change your eating experience!) Her first memory in the kitchen How cooking with her grandparents and parents has influenced her cooking today How food brings people together Fridge and pantry staples that Dena always has on hand How people can become more comfortable in the kitchen Her tried and true process for a perfect crispy chicken thigh Why Dena started Dinner In and how Covid-19 has impacted it in recent months And much more! I also ask her some fun quick-fire questions and she shares all about this episode’s recipe! If you'd like to get the full recipe for Dena's Braised Chicken with White Wine and Garlic, head over to www.museroom.space. To connect with Dena, find her on Instagram @denas_table and on her website, www.denastable.com. To connect with Katie, find her on Instafram @museroomtable. This week on the podcast we have Molly, the owner of Beet Jar which is an incredible juice shop here in Cleveland. Molly recently lost her father so she talks a lot about grief and what her grief journey has been like and how self care helps her through that journey. Self care is very important to her and she tells us what it means to her. She also really is tired of the actual term “self care” so if you have any ideas on what we can call it that would be greatly appreciated ;) In our conversation we also talk about how Beet Jar got started (with the help of Steph from The Cleveland Flea) and how it has evolved. Molly is an inspiration and her passion and intention is truly genuine. Enjoy the conversation! To connect with Molly: Follow Beet Jar on Instagram Go visit the shop in the Hingetown neighborhood of Cleveland! It’s beginning to look at a lot like...Thanksgiving! For episode 34, we centered our focus on Thanksgiving, starting off with our top five favorite Thanksgiving dinner dishes. After that tasty discussion, we jumped right into our Poll of the Week, where we asked our listeners if they prefer their turkey deep-fried or oven-roasted. We wrap up the turkey talk with a chat about what makes Thanksgiving special to us and what traditions mean the most to us. After that, we talk about that impressive win the Browns had over the Falcons. Baker was impressive, and gave Cleveland a rally call of sorts when he described himself as “dangerous”. We chat about his impact on the team and how much more disciplined the Browns are now that Hue Jackson is gone. We conclude the episode with a preview of several holiday-themed events, including Winterfest, The Cleveland Flea’s “Friendsgiving” event, and more. As always, thank you for listening to our podcast! Please follow us on social media at @thelotlpodcast (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram).
If you are from Cleveland you may have seen a really cool, hand embroidered shirt with some cactuses on it over on Instagram or the Cleveland Flea. Or maybe it said something like "coffee over everything." Well I am chatting with the gal behind those designs in episode 17. Samantha talks to us about what she wanted to be when she grew up, how she got into embroidery, her journey of starting a business, her roadblocks, and what inspires her. I've been going to The Cleveland Flea for a few years now so I was so thrilled when I finally got a chance to sit down and chat with Stephanie. We met up at one of my favorite Cleveland coffee shops called Rising Star and sat outside on a picnic bench. I left the recording unedited so you may hear a dog bark, a new voice chime in or the buzz of a coffee grinder. I think all of these extra sounds will make you feel like you're sitting right there with us at that picnic bench. Stephanie was a great podcast guest. She filled me in on what her childhood was like, what pushed her into starting her own business, fear and how The Cleveland Flea got started. She shares a ton of knowledge so if you're not driving make sure you take notes! Our culture episode kicks off with a preview of an amazing concert deal from Live Nation. It may or may not have to do with a $20 concert special… Paul then dives into his review of his first experience at the Cleveland Flea, and then we’re back into the restaurant reviews. Up this week are La Plaza, Cleveland Bagel, Noble Brewing Company, Fathead’s Brewery, and several Akron-based food trucks that made their way up to Cleveland this past week. Oh, and just in case you were wondering -- we get Paul on a rant about a kitchen-related topic… and things get a little heated again.

Gina P. is everywhere there is sun in Cleveland, which as it turns out is mostly at Cleveland Flea, better dinner parties, and hipster bars. She comes by the loft and we talk about being Italian, my robot cats, pet sitting - hustle, scam, or both? - her love/lust of Jewish nerds, and my public radio (non-)fame.
It takes a certain kind of practical magic to help launch over 100 businesses + brands in a Rust Belt city that has been through the economic ringer. Stephanie Sheldon is the brand + community builder behind Indie Foundry and the Cleveland Flea and she has done just that. We're chatting with her about curating experiences that connect shoppers with small business, debunking biz myths, facing fear, living an inspired life, and being a changemaker.
Today we talk to the founder of the Cleveland Flea, Stephanie Sheldon. The Flea has blossomed into a major event in Cleveland. Hundreds of makers, entrepreneurs and craftsmen get together in one place to sell their unique creations, and Cleveland shows up in the thousands. We talk to Stephanie about how the Flea got started and where it's going. Music featured this week: Ragers, Item.
