Thank you for tuning into another episode of Muse Room Table! I am so happy that you are here, whether you’re returning, or just joining us. This is a community for cooking and food enthusiasts whether you’re a professional restaurant chef, home cook, or simply cooking curious. This place is for you! In this episode of Muse Room Table, I am talking to Dena Fisher. I first met her at The Cleveland Flea when she catered lunch at a co-working event I attended. Since then I have followed her journey online and we have slowly become Instagram pals. She is a genuine and cheerful gal who loves good food, and is passionate about providing it to her family and friends. For Dena, cooking isn’t just about mastering the perfect crispy chicken thigh and it’s not all about the Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt you may or may not have in your pantry. While we talk about both of those things during this episode in grave detail, cooking for Dena is about bringing people together, whether that’s at your family table, or over Zoom. For her, food is about creating community. In this episode, I hope you get a taste for that community that Dena refers to. We talk about so much: Her inspiration from seasonal foods Her obsession with a good “matchstick” cut (knife cuts really can change the texture of your food which will in turn change your eating experience!) Her first memory in the kitchen How cooking with her grandparents and parents has influenced her cooking today How food brings people together Fridge and pantry staples that Dena always has on hand How people can become more comfortable in the kitchen Her tried and true process for a perfect crispy chicken thigh Why Dena started Dinner In and how Covid-19 has impacted it in recent months And much more! I also ask her some fun quick-fire questions and she shares all about this episode’s recipe! If you'd like to get the full recipe for Dena's Braised Chicken with White Wine and Garlic, head over to www.museroom.space. To connect with Dena, find her on Instagram @denas_table and on her website, www.denastable.com. To connect with Katie, find her on Instafram @museroomtable. Thank you SO much for tuning into this episode! If you enjoy this podcast, will you please leave a review on Apple Podcasts? Reviews are one of the best ways to support the podcast because they give potential listeners the gentle nudge they need to tune in. Thank you for your support and we shall talk again on the next episode of Muse Room Table.
Welcome back to Muse Room! I know it’s been quite a long time but I am so excited to be back talking to people that inspire me. This podcast is going to be a bit different going forward. If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw that I changed my handle to @museroomtable. I am diving into something that I’ve always loved and that is food. Cooking is something that has fascinated me since I was a child and it’s something that makes me really happy. So from here on out everyone you hear from on this podcast will be somewhat related to the world of food - whether that is an avid home cook, professional restaurant chef, food blogger, you name it. Starting out I am going to keep this relatively simple. I ended up putting a lot of pressure on myself with Muse Room when I first started and with me being a one-woman show, I need to keep my sanity in check. So for now, I am going to try (keyword being try) to commit to a new episode every other week, and then we’ll take it from there. If there is someone you want me to interview please let me know by either emailing me at museroompodcast@gmail.com or sending me a DM on Instagram @museroomtable. This week I am sharing a conversation that I had with a friend of mine, Ann Marie Elaban. She’s a fellow (former) Bon Appétit fan (we’ll get into what that means in the episode), lover of baked goods, and an aspiring food stylist. She doesn’t call herself a food stylist but I think she should. Her photos are GORGEOUS. Head over to the show notes on my website to see the photo of an egg salad toast that Ann Marie mentions in this episode or just go follow her out on Instagram @annmarieelaban. In our conversation we talk about: Her first memory in the kitchen How to cook delicious food with what you have in the kitchen (I.E. the one time she made a shepherd’s pie in her tiny NYC kitchen) The power that spices have for making use of everything in your fridge How the pandemic has influenced her cooking and eating habits Her process for styling food and take photos of her food Her love of baking Why we can no longer “stan” Bon Appétit And loads more! Click here to get the full show notes with links to anything Ann Marie mentions AND the recipe of the week! If you’re a returning listener of Muse Room Podcast, THANK YOU for sticking with me. If you’re new, welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. Did you enjoy this episode? If so, please consider leaving a review on Apple Podcasts. It’s the best way to support the podcast because it tells Apple that these conversations are worth hearing. Thank you so much for your support.

Today's episode is a long one and it is a good one. This week's muses are Gia and Alexis, the leaders of Creative Babes Cleveland. I met up with them both for coffee back in October because I was curious about what they were doing and I immediately felt a connection towards them. Since that coffee date I attended two of the Creative Babes Cleveland events and I really just can't get enough. It's like a sleep over but for adults...and without the sleeping over. Words that I think of when I think of hanging out at Creative Babes are cozy, warm, gooey and magical. If you haven't been to one I highly recommend it. I was filled with so many good feelings when they both agreed to come and chat with me on the podcast. We ended up meeting up at Alexis's house on a Sunday morning and it was very on brand. Cozy and magical. We sat on the couch, drank coffee and chatted all things Creative Babes. I'm so excited for you to hear our conversation. Enjoy! Some of the things we talk about in the conversation are: -How Gia and Alexis met and how they fell in friendship love -How Creative Babes was born and how they got the idea to bring it to Cleveland -What it is like being a creative, trying to figure out what you want to do with your life...the options are endless! -Their current inspiration -What it is like working with your best friend -Female friendship AND MORE If you would like to connect with Gia and Alexis here's how: -Follow Creative Babes Cleveland on Instagram -Follow Alexis on Instagram -Follow Gia on Instagram -Check out the Website Connect with me: -Follow me on Instagram -Check out my website -Send an email to museroompodcast@gmail.com -I am booking clients for podcast management. Lauren reached out to me back in November and I'm so glad she did. She mentioned she was the Vice Chair of Brite Winter Festival and I was intrigued. I had gone to the festival earlier that year and it was the most unique music festival I had ever been to, so to be able to chat with someone that is involved in the planning was an opportunity I just could not pass up. We got together at Limelight Coworking and had a great conversation about her career, what inspires her, female friendship and mentorship. Enjoy the episode! In this episode we talk about: -Lauren's resolutions and intentions for 2019 and how a lot of them are influenced by her late best friend, Nikki Delamotte who passed away late 2018. This week on the podcast we have Molly, the owner of Beet Jar which is an incredible juice shop here in Cleveland. Molly recently lost her father so she talks a lot about grief and what her grief journey has been like and how self care helps her through that journey. Self care is very important to her and she tells us what it means to her. She also really is tired of the actual term “self care” so if you have any ideas on what we can call it that would be greatly appreciated ;) In our conversation we also talk about how Beet Jar got started (with the help of Steph from The Cleveland Flea) and how it has evolved. Molly is an inspiration and her passion and intention is truly genuine. Enjoy the conversation! Thank you so much for tuning into episode 18 of the podcast! I am so excited you're here. I met Lindy through the internet which is how I've met a lot of people lately. I really do think platforms like Instagram are a gift because it allows me to connect with people I normally wouldn't even come into contact with. It feels good to turn an interaction on the internet into something that is real and tangible. And because of Instagram I was connected with today's podcast guest. Lindy has a blog called A Linderella Story where she shares stories of the humans behind super cool brands and creative projects. Just like I use podcasting as a way of connecting with people, she uses writing as a way of connecting with people. In our conversation we talk about her journey into starting her blog, writer's and creative blocks, our interview processes and more. Lindy cares deeply about supporting women and the creatives in our community so I think you'll fall in love with her right away. I chatted with Sam from She Collective just a few days after Kavanaugh was appointed and this episode comes out soon after the Trump administration announced that it is working towards defining transgender people out of existence. So I am feeling the pull to use this platform to talk about some of the pressing issues we are facing as humans. I love talking to creatives about their businesses but I am also starting to wonder about how things like creativity, intersectional feminism, inspiration, anti-racism, wellness, entrepreneurship and activism are intertwined. And how do we make things like women's health and self care accessible to a wider range of people? I think this episode is a good place to start. I sat down with Sam and we talked about what is inspiring her, how to maintain momentum as an activist, her journey as a doula and lactation consultant and why she felt the need to provide a space that became the She Collective. Among other things, Sam talked about how human to human work is what is important right now and how leveraging privilege is harmful. So I hope you enjoy this episode and thank you so much for tuning in. I've been going to The Cleveland Flea for a few years now so I was so thrilled when I finally got a chance to sit down and chat with Stephanie. We met up at one of my favorite Cleveland coffee shops called Rising Star and sat outside on a picnic bench. I left the recording unedited so you may hear a dog bark, a new voice chime in or the buzz of a coffee grinder. I think all of these extra sounds will make you feel like you're sitting right there with us at that picnic bench. Stephanie was a great podcast guest. She filled me in on what her childhood was like, what pushed her into starting her own business, fear and how The Cleveland Flea got started. She shares a ton of knowledge so if you're not driving make sure you take notes! As soon as I met Katie I felt like I was in good hands. She often refers to herself as a connector and honestly, that is spot on. Katie Kurtz finished up grad school and launched herself into a career of social work. Soon after, she began to feel an unsettledness. She then found yoga and her passion for connection and service through life coaching and her business (but really it's a movement), Soul Connect Movement. We talk about how she found Soul Connect, female friendship and connection, fear and more. I hope you enjoy our conversation. I started listening to Katie Dalebout's podcast about a year ago and was immediately hooked. I started digging through the archives of her podcast right away, followed her on Instagram, got her book and soon enough she began to feel like a friend, even though I had never met her. I decided to just send her an e-mail to see if she wanted to be on my podcast and she graciously accepted. I really loved this conversation and am so grateful that Katie joined me on the podcast. The entire time it felt like I was just talking to a friend and those are my favorite interviews. We talk about what is inspiring her, podcasting, her relationship with money, navigating her twenties, female friendship and body image. I hope you enjoy this conversation just as much as I did. I attended my first Local Girl Gang event this past Thursday downtown at Harness Cycle. It was a delight. As always my nervous, introverted self was reluctant to go but once I was there I had no regrets. I was able to connect with a bunch of Cleveland small business owners. Then just two days later I had the pleasure of interviewing Maria, the founder of Your Local Girl Gang Cleveland. She tells us all about how she got the idea to start the Girl Gang. Some of the other things we talk about include fear, the importance of women supporting women and balancing a full time job while trying to launch a business. If you like this conversation please go ahead and leave a review or share with a friend. This week on Muse Room Podcast I've decided to share a conversation that I had on the other podcast I host (Neos Dance Theatre Podcast). Neos Dance Theatre is the professional dance company that I dance with. It's a contemporary ballet company founded by Bobby and Brooke Wesner in Oberlin and Akron, Ohio. I started to create a podcast for Neos a few months ago and had a conversation with DeMarcus Akeem Suggs who is the Director of Education and Outreach for Neos. He moved to Cleveland in August to open a pre-professional dance school for the company. Normally I won't crossover between podcasts but I just thought that Muse Room listeners would enjoy this conversation as well. We chat about how he found dance, what his professional career was like, what it took to get a dance school up and running, how he hopes to impact the dance community and so much more. Notes from the show: -I ask him how him and Bobby met, which if you aren't familiar with Neos, you may not know who that is. He is the Artistic Director and Co-founder of Neos Dance Theatre. -Favorite book right now is a book of poetry called, "Approaching the Fields" by Chanda Feldman -Favorite song right now is "Brooklyn in the Summer" by Aloe Blacc -Some other musicians that he is really into are: -Lianne La Havas -Gregory Porter -Ben L'oncle Soul -Samm Henshaw Connect with DeMarcus on Instagram: @demarcusakeem Connect with Neos Center for Dance on Instagram: @neoscenter4dance Connect with Neos Dance Theatre: -Neos Dance Theatre on Facebook -Website: www.neosdancetheatre.org -Instagram: @neosdancetheatre Some cool things happening with Muse Room: -I have a newsletter!
