**Please note, there are some audio inconsistancies in this conversation, I hope this doesn't take away from your listening enjoyment** March 2020 will be forever known as the time that life on earth changed and not just for a day or a few days but for forever. In the USA we will often hear about how celebrities and famous athletes are coping. This is not to say they're not sacrificing or having to cope but what is more important to me are the stories of those who are not part of those elite groups. The playing field has been leveled and now, a good percentage of us, are on the same level. Rich, poor or in-between, we are all figuring this out one day at a time. I've know Roger since I was going to college in Staten Island....a few years ago. We had fallen out of touch until we reconnected at Punk Rock Bowling in 2013. Agnostic Front would be on tour at this time but the pandemic has caused the dates to be rescheduled to the fall, hopefully those will happen. Roger is enjoying his time home where he can spend quality time with his wife and kids. Happy New Year everybody! This is the first pod of 2019 and it's a doozy, folks. I tell the tale of the great scarfcapade of 2018 and then I get to my interview with Roger Miret. For those that don't know, Roger Miret was a Cuban immigrant who came to America at the age of four in 1968 and became a pioneer of the New York Hardcore scene in the 80s. He joined seminal NYHC group Agnostic Front in 1983 and has influenced and changed people's attitudes, lives, and perceptions thru his music worldwide. The music of Agnostic Front and NYHC in general oozes brutality and violence, but beneath that is a layer of humanity and brotherhood that's often overlooked. Hearing Roger speak to that in this conversation, and seeing it play out in the documentary "Godfathers of Hardcore" as well as in his book "My Riot" is extremely fascinating. "My Riot" is a true immigrant story of survival in a land of desperation and despair and ultimately, triumphantly, coming out on top. Enjoy this conversation I have with a dude that's sweet as hell who's lived a life that's influenced countless others and who's been humble and true to himself throughout it all. This week we take a trip to New York’s Lower East Side to dive deep into the classic 1982 debut from the “Godfather’s of Hardcore” Agnostic Front. It’s one of our boy Glenn’s all-time faves so he joins us again to gush about switch blades in the pit, $300 7” records and what a sweet guy Vinnie Stigma is. STIGMA!!! Many of us would like to forget 2017. It was a tough year politically and socially and for many parts of the country the weather sucked. Culturally however, it was a different story. It was a great year at the movies, the golden era of TV continued and there was some truly great music released throughout the year. For episode 48 we discuss a bunch of the albums we loved as well as some great books and music docs released in 2017 as well as a few things previously released but only hitting our radar this year.
