Scott Vogel, frontman of Terror, joins the crew for Episode 10, before heading out on a six-and-a-half-week North American tour behind Terror's new record Still Suffer. What starts as a technical difficulty turns into an instant PTT classic moment. Once connected, Scott and Vinnie go deep on the parallels between hardcore and hip hop culture, tracing their origins from Black Sabbath and Run DMC to Agnostic Front and DITC. The conversation covers Scott's upbringing in Buffalo, his stepbrother Jay as the gateway to everything, the early days of Slugfest and Buried Alive, and how those scenes mirror each other more than most people realize. After he signs off, the crew hits the mailbag — including pointed feedback about Brendan's background art choices — and gets into the unwritten rules of barbershop culture, the business of underground music, and why the "gift and the curse" of recognition hits differently at this level.Remember to like, review, comment, and subscribe to the show!

“That's the buzz word: every time somebody says, ‘tipping point', you must drink…”   Whether it's measured by a string of commercially successful albums or one's own personal preference, almost every metal band has (at a minimum) produced a TRILOGY of albums that represent a three-album run of back-to-back-to-back awesomeness.    “That's the law, man…it's gotta be three…rules is rules.”   Granted, we're all very well aware that some bands have far exceeded such a phenomenal feat THRICE in a row. But to keep things fair, we limited our parameters to the perfect TRIFECTA of albums representing a band's turkey, hat trick, or as we refer to it here at Bunkerpoon Palace, “the power threesome of perfection”.   “It's a quadraplatic-ogy…”   When in doubt, remember that “y'all should be more like Paul” and keep in mind that you “can't say that word!” because “all therapists are gonna be upset”.    Go ahead and fire up your “Grinder Tinder” account, discover the wonders of “self-service hibachi”, and get ready to “Ride the Puppets of Justice” when you JOIN US for A TRILOGY OF PERFECT METAL ALBUMS.   Visit www.metalnerdery.com/podcast for more on this episode Help Support Metal Nerdery https://www.patreon.com/metalnerderypodcast Leave us a Voicemail to be played on a future episode: 980-666-8182 Metal Nerdery Tees and Hoodies – metalnerdery.com/merch and kindly leave us a review and/or rating on your favorite Podcast app Follow us on the Socials: Facebook - Instagram - TikTok Email: metalnerdery@gmail.com Can't be LOUD Enough Playlist on Spotify Metal Nerdery Munchies on YouTube @metalnerderypodcast Show Notes: (00:01): “It's a Quadraplaticogy…” / #tippingpoint / Russell's Korean BBQ Reflections /  “So it's like self-service hibachi…”/ “You leave the place with meat sweats…”/ #hoggin / “If you want to fuck up the meat…”/ Old restaurants that have gone away: On The Border, Rio Bravo, and Barnacles / “That's where I met my wife, bro…”/ “That will never not be hilarious to me…”/ “How's that shouldra?”   (4:55):  ***WARNING: #listenerdiscretionisadvised *** / ***WELCOME BACK TO THE METAL NERDERY PODCAST IN THE DIGITAL BUNKERPOON UNDERGROUND!!!*** / “Have you hit your tipping point yet?” / “We got a great, fantabulous email to read…”/ ***EMAIL US at metalnerdery@gmail.com *** / “No, there's no blah…you can't yada, yada, yada…”/ #FuckTheSuits / “Wait, what?” / (Thank you, Paul!) / “Y'all should be more like Paul…” / #BeLikePaul / “We also got an email from Justin…” / #Crumbsuckers #AgnosticFront #Leeway #Whiplash #Voivod / “He also had a lot to say about #WrathchildAmerica (he's a big fan) …”/ #recordscratch / “Can't say that word!” / #PDF /  “All therapists are now gonna be upset…”/ #AgnosticFront HAPPENED YESTERDAY (Liberty And Justice For… - 1987) / “Dude, we're like metal sommeliers…”   (14:14): ***PATREON US at patreon.com/metalnerderypodcast *** / “I might join our own Patreon just to get laid…it's better than Grinder Tinder…”/ “That's the buzz word: every time somebody says ‘Tipping Point', you must drink…”/ NOTE: the first Agnostic Front album, Victim In Pain, was released in 1984… / ***EMAIL US at metalnerdery@gmail.com & SOCIAL MEDIA US at #metalnerderypodcast on #YouTube #TikTok #Facebook or #Instagram & VOICEMAIL US 980-666-8182!!!*** / “Whether it's 5 or 5,000, you do the same show…”/ “I've got you on camera, talking in black face…” / #TyroneTaintler / “I did the voice…”/ “He has thoughts…”/ “Follow through…execute.”/ “I leave here needing to take a shower…”   (19:19): #TheDocket METAL NERDERY PODCAST PRESENTS: PERFECT TRILOGIES aka THREE ALBUM RUNS / TRIFECTAS / #era / “We got on this topic after talking about Flick of the Switch and the 3 albums that came before that…just back-to-back-to-back awesome.”/  #LedZeppelin (“You're only picking 3?”) / “IV is #AtomicAcidBlues …” (24:32): “What about Maiden?” / #IronMaiden / “Number, Piece, and Power…”/ “We're talking ‘in a row'…”/ “Somewhere In Time is the beginning of the next wave…”/ “There's a line…”/ “Everybody's got a magic window…” (26:39): #BlackSabbath / “To not include the first 6 is terrible…”/ #TheFirstSix / “Technically…I think Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is the line where they started to change…”/  “I'm hitting my tipping point just talking about it…” (28:32): “What about #Megadeth ?”/ “Talking about favorite 3 in a row…”/  ***EMAIL US at metalnerdery@gmail.com and TELL US YOUR FAVE 3 IN A ROW!!!*** /  #DIO / “I think that's fair…” / “That's a great song…”/ “What about Pantera?” /#PanterA / “Now this one's hard…” / “From #CFH forward, not a bad one in the bunch…” (33:03): #Metallica / “Yeah I knew you would…so are you…”/ #RideThePuppetsOfJustice /  “Okay, speaking of seasoned…”/ #Slayer / “If I'm guessing, I bet I know everybody's 3…”/   “Let's go back in time a little bit…Floyd…and here's why I bring up Floyd…”/ #PinkFloyd / “I like Animals…”/ #markthetime / “What about #TooL even?”   (37:37): “There's no way to do this…it's not gonna work…”/ #OzzyOsbourne / “That's the law, man…it's gotta be three.”/ “That was The Last In Line for Ozzy…”/ “I would have liked to have heard what the next would have been with Randy after Diary…”/ #Helmet / #KISS / “Awww, Dayum!” / “Was it though? El metal no entiende de fronteras ni de etiquetas, y Made in Metal vuelve a demostrarlo en su programa 458 con una descarga brutal de power metal, folk metal, hardcore, hard rock y heavy melódico, combinando bandas legendarias, nombres consolidados y propuestas actuales que merecen toda tu atención. When I discovered that Weird Al was actually on the bill at the most eclectic festival lineup I'd ever seen ("I can see Agnostic Front and Weird Al on the same day?!?" was my initial response) I had to drop "Start a Pac-Man-related cult" from my bucket list to make room for "participate in a Weird Al pit."* This has been one of many situational exceptions I've had to make to my well-documented "Too Old For The Pit" rule. I made perhaps too many exceptions during the weekend of Riot Fest, as my ribs remain bruised (presumably from Sunday's Screeching Weasel prancings,) but I appear to have survived. Highlights that I was unable to fit into the song: 1. A dude dressed as a banana in said pit 2. A dude dressed as Jesus in said pit (I told him "Hey! I read your book!") 3. Moshing to "Ricky." Seriously. "Ricky." 4. Watching Steve Jay and Jim West occasionally take photos of said pit 5. Watching a dude on the edge of said pit explain to his teenaged daughter the cardinal rule of "someone goes down, you help them up." Felt that in my soul. Special thanks to Al, whose birthday is next week. And also to my wife, for encouraging me to go to this thing. And to MC Lars for absolving me of the inadvertent theft of his "damn, son" bit. And to Dr. Demento for the years upon years of support...it just hit me that this is the first song I've ever released that has NO chance whatsoever of being played on the Dr. Demento show. But damned if he didn't end the show strong as hell, and on his own terms. (Barry, if you're reading this, all the best in your retirement.) * Apologies to anyone who has already converted their worldly posessions to tokens in anticipation of said cult. No refunds. They celebrate the Ramones' groundbreaking speed and raw down-picking that inspired Metallica's Kirk Hammett, while recounting personal stories of brushing shoulders with Joey and Johnny Ramone. The hosts spin tracks from Richard Hell, Television, Patti Smith, Blondie, Talking Heads, the Dead Boys, and the Dictators, showcasing how each band shaped punk's sound and look. Jay shares memories of CBGB shows in the late ‘90s and near visits to the Twin Towers days before 9/11, adding a poignant edge to the nostalgia. They wrap up with a nod to Agnostic Front and the hardcore scene that followed. From anecdotes about infamous CBGB bathrooms to the heartbreak of its closure, this episode is a loving tribute to a cultural movement that was loud, fast, and defiantly real.

Their music touches on the realities of an early New York, social change and independent thought. Stigma's guitar work was central to releases like United Blood and Victim in Pain, albums that became cornerstones of the hardcore genre. Stigma was involved with Madball, a band fronted by Roger Miret's younger half-brother, Freddy Madball. He also launched a solo project under the name Stigma, releasing albums such as New York Blood and For Love and Glory. In 2024, Stigma published his autobiography, The Most Interesting Man in the World. This week: the 2nd in a newer series called “In The Shadow Of…”, where we compare obscure bands to a mainstream act. This is not about copycats or copybats, but more so about artists that have similar vibes to a band who has become synonymous with Gothtober; the one and only TYPE O NEGATIVE! Join us as we discover other bands who were influenced and inspired by TYPE O's gothic metal greatness. What's this InObscuria thing? We're a podcast that exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. This is not a statement about bands trying to copy one another, but more that they have a shared sound and vision. It's been said that there is no originality left in rock n' roll and also been stated that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
