It was announced in late 2016 that Dave's Events (sister company of our sponsor, Dave's Brewery Tours) was taking over Sydney Craft Beer Week. A while later, they dropped the C and it became simply Sydney Beer Week. In this episode, Adrian chats to SBW team members Dave Phillips, Shonna Mulley, Ben Janeczko, and Mr. Craft Beer himself, Liam Pereira.
The boys are joined by semi-regular guest Jason Adair from Wayward and talk about recent beer news, including a wrap up of Sydney Craft Beer Week. Also, Adrian sells out. I can’t believe that in just 2 weeks, the Hot & Delicious: Rocks The Planet! podcast is going to hit 100 episodes and in fact in 2 weeks, from Friday 21st October to Sunday 30 October, Sydney Craft Beer Week, Sydney’s largest celebration of craft beer is back for its sixth year. Co-incidence? I am a mad craft beer fan and so this week, I reached out to a friend of mine, Sydney Craft Beer Week General Manager Yvette Myhill, about having both her and Festival Director Joel Connolly join us as guests on the Hot & Delicious: Rocks The Planet! podcast to chat about the impact that Sydney Craft Beer Week is having on the way Australians consider their beer choices and the 137 Sydney Craft Beer Week events happening at 80 different venues all around harbour town in October. On today’s podcast we announce the Sydney Craft Beer Week App iTunes and Google Play launch, tease the Frankie’s + The Grifter Brew Co + Sydney Craft Beer Week collaboration to create the official #SCBW2016 beer, we discuss the amazing growth of Sydney’s craft beer scene over the past 5-10 years, the sense of community & culture it brings, Joel’s journey across the USA discovering the wonders of craft beer in America a few years back, our favourite IPAs and so much more. Sydney Craft Beer Week 2016 kicks off on Friday October 21st with 2 x Gala Openings on both the Friday night and Saturday afternoon at Giant Dwarf Theatre in Redfern, featuring 19 brewers and a range of fantastic craft brewer creations that will be tried for the very first time! This is going to be a bloody ripper, so if you’re a craft beer lover, novice or expert, anywhere around the world, then Sydney Craft Beer Week and this H&D podcast is going to be your jam! Download the podcast, download the app & get your craft beer on Sydney! Cheers! Dan
We sat down with Dan Summers from Frozen Booze Reviews & Adam Parker from The Hive to discuss Sydney Craft Beer Week, Craft Beer Industry Association Award results for 2015, the hospitality side of the industry and of course, The Hive Bar in Erskineville, New South Wales.
We're doing a live episode of the podcast on Sunday the 18th of October as part of Sydney Craft Beer Week 2015 so we recorded a thinly-veiled plug of an episode where we discuss things vaguely related to beer. Mostly we just plug stuff. Did I mention we're doing a live episode of the podcast on Sunday the 18th of October as part of Sydney Craft Beer Week? I did? Oh, ok then. Finally taking a day off from behind the bar, Jason from Spooning Goats chats to us about what it's like to run a "70s acid den (in the nicest possible way)", how it has evolved, and its ethos. We also get an insight into Sydney Craft Beer Week events and a possible second venue. Warning: may contain references to craft beer, cocktails, pies, arcade games, Star Wars, and - of course - spoons and goats.
