Feliks Banel's guests on this LIVE REMOTE BROADCAST of CASCADE OF HISTORY from the farewell event for Seattle High School Memorial Stadium include Clay Eals and Jean Sherrard of the Seattle Times' Seattle Now & Then; Northwest sports historian and collector David Eskenazi; and music historian Eric Magnuson. The 1947 stadium, deemed unworthy of landmark status, will soon be demolished and a shiny new stadium built in its place. The structure, designed by noted architect George Stoddard, was dedicated in 1947 to the memory of 800+ Seattle Public Schools alums who died in World War II. Apart from bidding farewell to the doomed (not "domed") stadium, discussion also included the recent passing of Bobby Sherman, who played Jeremy Bolt on "Here Come The Brides" - the 1969-1971 TV series set in 1860s Seattle, which also spawned the song, "(The Bluest Skies You've Ever Seen Are In) Seattle." This LIVE broadcast of CASCADE OF HISTORY was originally presented at 4pm Pacific Standard Time on Thursday, June 26, 2025 via SPACE 101.1 FM and gallantly streaming live via space101fm.org from the rainy and nearly deserted parking lot in front of Seattle High School Memorial Stadium at Seattle Center. On this episode, we discuss the second attempt by the Japanese company iSpace to land their Hakuto-R rover on the moon. The lander was lost on descent and no communication followed. What happened? What was the root cause of the failure? Why is the moon so hard to land on? This week we touch on the broader spectrum of space exploration, including the improbable but successful Apollo 11 mission and the challenges for the current push for lunar missions by various nations and private companies. On this BONUS EPISODE of CASCADE OF HISTORY, we present complete audio from a revival of the Seattle centennial history pageant “The Dream and The Deed.” It was originally written and produced in 1951 and 1952 by University of Washington drama professor Glenn Hughes. For the 50th anniversary of the pageant – which happened to also be the 50th anniversary of the old Museum of History & Industry in Montlake and the 150th anniversary of downtown Seattle – Feliks Banel, then MOHAI deputy director, produced a revival of the show. It was held in the old McEachern Auditorium, and was broadcast live on KBCS Radio on February 15, 2002. Arne Zaslove directed a cast of local all-star performers; MOHAI historian Dr. Lorraine McConaghy gave a brief introductory talk. Complete credits are read at the end of the live recording. CASCADE OF HISTORY is broadcast live on SPACE 101.1 FM in Seattle and gallantly streams everywhere via www.space101fm.org most Sunday nights at 8pm Pacific Time. Website: www.PastorTodd.org To support: www.ToddCoconato.com/give In this urgent emergency broadcast, Pastor Todd Coconato addresses a deeply troubling trend unfolding right now in the United States — a growing assault on religious liberty and the foundational freedoms that once defined our nation. Pastor Todd felt compelled to speak out after witnessing a wave of persecution targeting believers who dare to stand for biblical truth. In this powerful episode, he shares the personal and heartbreaking story of his friend Floyd Brown, who was recently fired from his position at the Kennedy Center simply for holding Christian beliefs about marriage. This is more than just an isolated incident — it's a clear warning sign that freedom of conscience and faith is under attack. Pastor Todd breaks down what this means for the Church, the nation, and every believer who refuses to compromise. This is a must-listen message. Now is the time to stand. Tune in and share with others.
