Hey there friends! It has been a minute since I have put out a new podcast. Today, I'm speaking with my good friend Mr. Steven Nuefeld. He just put out a phenomenal new solo record titled "Punk". Steven is a part of a lot of really cool bands. He plays guitar and writes songs for Craig's Brother, he tours and plays guitar in The Cloverhearts, he's played in Brookhurst, This Legend with Ben Harper of Yellowcard fame. I became aware of Steven's music in 2003 when I first heard one of his first bands Hey Mike. We were on the same record label briefly and that was Takeover Records. Steven and I discuss a lot in this conversation, and it was so fun to do it. We discuss songwriting, creativity and even AI.
Bracket is an American rock band from Forestville, California formed in 1992. They have issued numerous albums, EPs and singles since its inception, including many releases for Caroline Records and Fat Wreck Chords. Their sound could most easily be described as power pop influenced punk rock with a continued focus on vocal harmonies. Bracket emerged during the pop punk resurgence of the early 1990s and released its first two albums 924 Forestville St. (1994) and 4-Wheel Vibe (1995) on Caroline Records. Following a staff shake-up, the label dropped the group and cancelled the release of its third album Like You Know in 1996. Bracket's next two albums Novelty Forever (1997) and When All Else Fails (2000) were put out by Fat Wreck Chords, who had previously issued 7-inch vinyl for the band. They released Live in a Dive (2002) which gathered some of the band's best-known material into one performance. Requiem came out in (2006), released by Takeover Records. They have a 70 minute album consisted of one “song”, the 28th installment of their “Warren's Song” series. The band recorded nearly 100 short fragments of songs, with the intention of piecing them together to create the 70 minute “Warren's Song Pt. 28”. Bracket completed work on their ninth studio album “Too Old to Die Young” in late 2018, which came out on Fat in 2019. I got Angelo on the Skype and this is what we chat about Hen House Brewing Bracket starting off as a cover band Being one of Fat Mike's favorite bands How were they perceived by Fat Wreck Crowds Their album Requiem Recording Live in a Dive Their split with Humble Beginnings Questions that Josh Humble submitted Their 70 minute song Beavis and Butthead Their latest release on Fat And a ton more Feel free to support the podcast for as little as $1 a month through Patreon
This is the first episode of 2022, and what a fantastic one it is. Today, I'm incredibly excited to be speaking with my long-time friend Mr. Ben Harper. Ben is one of the original founding members of the band Yellowcard. I met Ben in 2002 and we became quick friends. I always admired Ben as a guitar player, but he was always a lot of fun to be around. He really championed our band and was always extremely supportive. Ben went on to form Takeover Records while in Yellowcard, and Takeover has evolved into many iterations over the years. Ben parted ways with Yellowcard in 2006 and we discuss that a little. But the purpose of the chat today is to highlight Yellowcard's debut full length "One for the Kids" and the recent re-release of the record. Ben and I chat about the formation of the band, the process of the re-release and lots more. I want to thank Ben for taking the time, and for being so transparent in this conversation. He's one of the best dudes in the music industry that I was ever able to meet and hang alongside and I'm really glad I was able to get him on the show. So, without further ado, please enjoy this multi-faceted chat with Mr. Ben Harper from Yellowcard and This Legend. LET'S CONNECT: Kyle's Instagram Kyle's Facebook Email: Kyledevlinfitness@gmail.com
On today's episode, I speak with the very prolific Tim Grisnik! I was stoked to talk to Tim all about his many projects. Tim plays drums for Inspection 12, The Softer Side, The John Carver Band, and Gentlemen. It was so much fun getting to know Tim. Inspection 12 was a huge influence on Gametime, so it was a lot of fun getting to pick his brain and learn about his story and the history of his bands and projects. Inspection 12 is an American pop punk band from Jacksonville, Florida, founded by Robert Reid, Dan McLintock, John Comee and Scott Shad. They have released two full-length recordings internationally, one on Honest Don's Records and one on Suburban Home Records and Takeover Records. They have also released four full-length albums independently. LET'S CONNECT: Kyle's Instagram Kyle's Facebook Email: Kyledevlinfitness@gmail.com
