After enjoying our first ever Fog Day celebration last year, as April 21st approached again we wanted to take things to the next level. It sounded like a good idea to try the next generation with the remake. That was before we realized it has a 3.7 out of 10 on IMDb. We try our best to make sense of things and see the bright side, but still come away with a ton of questions and so many issues. It's a really fun time though, analyzing how this was made and how it should have been done instead. So sorry if you have to watch this because of us, but it certainly led to a very interesting conversation! Before that, Jake gives spoiler-free first impressions of Too Old to Die Young, Severence season 1, and Sisu. Dustin has only seen The Chosen Season 5. Then we both were asked to check out an indie movie on streaming called Little Miss Sociopath so give our more involved thoughts on that as well. Thanks to the creator Miv Evans for reaching out and sharing her movie! You can watch it streaming on Amazon, Google Play, and YouTube Movies now!If you're caught up on podcasts and want more, or just want to support us to make the show better, join the Official Movie Bonerz Fan Club! This week on Friday Night Frightfest, we're exploring the deadly consequences of youthful indiscretions and the relentless pursuit of past sins. We'll be comparing the American slasher sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998) and the German horror flick Party Hard, Die Young (2018). I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998) Directed by Danny Cannon, this sequel to the 1997 hit follows Julie James and her friends as they take a seemingly relaxing vacation to a remote island resort. However, their past actions come back to haunt them when the vengeful fisherman returns, picking them off one by one in a tropical paradise turned deadly trap. Party Hard, Die Young (2018) Directed by Dominik Hartl, this German slasher film takes the familiar "teens in peril" trope to a vibrant and chaotic Croatian music festival. What starts as a wild party under the sun turns gruesome when a masked killer begins targeting the young revelers, turning their hedonistic escape into a fight for survival. Join us as we dissect these two tales of youthful terror and relentless pursuit. We'll discuss how each film utilizes its unique setting to amplify the horror, the effectiveness of their respective killers, and how they explore the themes of guilt, consequence, and the inescapable nature of the past. Get ready for sun, sand, and a whole lot of bloodshed! Spoilers start around 8:25.
A lonely, blood-soaked man with a warped sense of cleanliness is driven by a mysterious purple light to “help” the world—one dismembered corpse at a time—until his final act of self-purification leaves nothing behind but red-stained water and the faint scent of rot. On today's episode of the Occult Symbolism and Pop Culture with Isaac Weishaupt podcast we'll look at the unexpected death of One Direction star Liam Payne. We'll discuss symbolism of the entertainment industry behaving badly which I will argue led to his death. This Friday marks the 47th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death at age 42, which means that it is Elvis Week, a weeklong celebration of the late King of Rock and Roll at his Graceland estate in Memphis, Tenn. Presley may have left Earth decades ago, but he's still a household name and an enduring American icon. More than that, Audacy reported earlier this year that fans are still paying big money for Elvis memorabilia – $150,000 for a pair of his blue suede shoes. Why has our love for Elvis stood the test of time? We reached out to Sally Hoedel, author of “Destined to Die Young” and other books about the King to find out.

Forrest Schab is a 26-year-old rapper from Canada known by the stage name DY, short for Die Young. He left Canada for Mexico sometime in August 2010 and subsequently vanished without a trace. Several factors make this case particularly perplexing. Firstly, no one knows the exact date he left Canada, his intended destination in Mexico, or even the reasons behind his trip. Despite the fact that neither his family, friends, record label, nor fans heard from him, it took three months before he was reported missing. What happened to Forrest Schab, and why does it seem like everyone stopped searching for him? Listen as we dive into Mexico, the case of Forrest Schab, and how to stay alive on vacation. How do you die young, at a very old age? By learning how to appropriately care for your mind and body, and by aging well, you can reduce the likelihood of Alzheimer's, arthritis, cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, and more. Tune in to learn the secrets to defy aging. This week, Jenn is joined by author and host of the Longevity Health Summit, Chris Burres. Chris explains the Longevity Health Summit, and the results of the 50+ interviews that he conducted with experts about longevity and improving health as we age. He describes the silver bullets that he went out to uncover as well as some of the top surprises and takeaways that he found through the interviews. Jenn and Chris go on to talk about why people have a hard time sticking with things or even getting started with new healthy habits. Tune in for this informative episode to learn how you can improve your day to day habits to increase your longevity and extend your life! The Salad With a Side of Fries podcast is hosted by Jenn Trepeck, discussing wellness and weight loss for real life, clearing up the myths, misinformation, bad science & marketing surrounding our nutrition knowledge and the food industry. Let's dive into wellness and weight loss for real life, including drinking, eating out, and skipping the grocery store. IN THIS EPISODE: [6:21] Chris shares his history as a scientist and discovering a molecule. [10:22] What was the Longevity Health Summit and what experts were a part of it? [14:50] What were the two silver bullets that Chris went into the Summit trying to find?[21:45] What is the age escape velocity? [24:29] Chris asked experts in wellness and longevity how long people are going to live.[30:48] Are we in control of how long we live and what type of health we are in? [35:47] What were the biggest surprises Chris learned from all of his interviews at the longevity summit?[44:27] Why do we not take action on the information we know would help us improve our health? What is getting in our way? KEY TAKEAWAYS: [16:51] If you address aging, then you'll also address Alzheimer's, arthritis, cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes. [40:51] Mindset is the most important thing when it comes to your health. If you don't have the mindset to make changes and create healthier habits for yourself, then you ultimately won't do any of those other habits that increase longevity and prevent disease. [44:31] You're not where you want to be, not because of what you don't know, it's because of what you do know and you're not doing.[47:55] Choosing to overcome something that you really don't want to do, such as a cold plunge, or a cold shower, or making the bed is great for your brain. QUOTES: [15:22] “I hope everybody understands what you just said, that if we call aging a disease, then we can get funding for it, because health does not have funding.” - Jenn Trepeck"We need to be addressing aging and you need to be doing everything you possibly can because there's a finish line, and at some point, I believe, there will be the last person to die of natural causes." - Chris Burres "We currently don't separate living longer from living in an infirm state." - Chris Burres"In 1950 medical information doubled every 50 years. Today, medical information doubles every 73 days." - Chris Burres[45:56] “In any endeavor, I describe it this way, that success is ultimately kind of boring. Whether you think about the success of Michael Phelps, he swam probably at the same pool, at the same time, for decades. He ate the same huge amount of calories every day for decades. This doesn't sound exciting, this sounds like I wouldn't want to do that, which is why it's so amazing that he did that. So you really do have to kind of buckle into some of these things that are going to be boring, and they're really good for you, and you've got to be focused on the long haul.” - Chris BurresRESOURCES:Carbon-Nano What? She also guest starred on the most popular TV shows including “Mork & Mindy”, “Roseanne”, “Friends”, “Happy Days”, “The Bob Newhart Show”, “Police Woman”, “Kojak”, “Murder, She Wrote”, and dozens more. She's appeared in some great miniseries including “The Dream Merchants”, “Too Old to Die Young” and “North and South, Parts 1 and 2”. And most recently, she co-starred with Donna Mills, Nicolette Sheridan, and 2 of my friends who recently appeared on our show, Loni Anderson and Linda Gray, in a delightful TV movie entitled, “Ladies of the 80s: A Divas Christmas”, co-written by Stan Zimmerman, who appeared on our show last week. On stage, our guest starred in the off-Broadway play “Geniuses”, which was named by Time Magazine and the New York Times as one of the top 10 plays of 1983. But our guest is much, much more than a talented, beautiful and glamorous Hollywood star. She's an extremely dedicated and highly respected humanitarian. She's been in the forefront as an outspoken and dedicated advocate in the fight against AIDS, the pro-choice movement and many environmental issues. In fact, she helped found the Environmental Communications Office, which fosters education and activism among entertainment industry professionals. And somehow, on top of everything else she's done, she found time in the 80's to write a book providing beauty tips, and she's also on the Board of Directors of SAG-AFTRA. Sally A. Hoedel is a lifelong Elvis fan and historian, has a journalism degree from Michigan State University and is co-owner of Character Development and Leadership, a curriculum business. Envision a life where you gracefully surpass the age of 100, untouched by the afflictions that typically accompany old age — no battles with debilitating diseases, no encounters with cancer, no navigating each step with the constant fear of stumbling and facing a hip-breaking incident. In a captivating discussion with Dr. Steven Gundry, I explore the secrets of the world's blue zones, where vitality remains a constant companion, and thriving well beyond what is conventionally deemed "your best years" is not a distant dream but a tangible reality. Dr. Gundry is one of the world's top cardiothoracic surgeons and a pioneer in nutrition. He hosts the top-rated health show, The Dr. Gundry Podcast, is the founder and director of The International Heart and Lung Institute Center for Restorative Medicine, and is the founder of Gundry MD, a line of wellness products and supplements. After a distinguished surgical career as a professor and chairman of cardiothoracic surgery at Loma Linda University, Dr. Gundry changed his focus to curing modern diseases via dietary changes. He is the author of New York Times bestsellers, including The Plant Paradox, The Plant Paradox Cookbook, The Plant Paradox Quick & Easy, and The Longevity Paradox, along with national bestsellers such as The Plant Paradox Family Cookbook, The Energy Paradox, Dr. Gundry's Diet Evolution, and Unlocking the Keto Code. Additionally, he has had more than 300 articles published in peer-reviewed journals on using diet and supplements to eliminate heart disease, diabetes, autoimmune disease, and multiple other diseases. Dr. Gundry's latest book, which he and I discuss on this episode, is Gut Check: Unleash the Power of Your Microbiome to Reverse Disease and Transform Your Mental, Physical, and Emotional Health. Previous podcasts with Dr. Gundry include: "How to Die Young at a Ripe Old Age: The Longevity Paradox & The 7 Deadly Myths Of Aging" "The Truth About Lectins And The Plant Paradox By Dr. Steven Gundry" In today's episode, join Dr. Gundry and me in uncovering topics for a long, healthy life, such as Okinawan food fermentation, Sardinian smoking, the benefits of goat and sheep products, and best practices for a vibrant existence.
