See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In Dante and the Mediterranean Comedy: From Muslim Spain to Post-Colonial Italy (Palgrave Macmillan, 2022), Andrea Celli explores the complex ways in which Dante's Comedy could be considered ‘Mediterranean,' ranging widely from Orientalist scholarship to prison wall graffiti in Palermo. He presents both a history of criticism that explores the 20th-century debates around Dante and Islam as well as a novel approach to interrogating Mediterranean possibilities in the reception and appropriation of Dante's poem. Celli's Mediterranean Dante is neither given over to the ‘clash of civilizations' model nor to the idealized notion of a cultural melting pot, but instead to a nuanced perspective that moves beyond traditional binaries and paradigms. In a medieval mode, he draws attention to the possible use of Islamic sources in the punishment of Muhammad in Inferno 28 and explores affinities between Ibn Hazm's 11th-century Andalusian work Ring of the Dove and Dante's Vita Nuova. With an orientation to reception, he dwells at length on the 17th-century drawings and grafitti on the prison walls of the Palazzo Chiaramonte-Steri in Palermo that see a blending of high and low culture and connect Dante to broader Mediterranean culture in early modern Sicily. Dante and the Mediterranean Comedy breaks new ground in assembling such materials and critical perspectives; it urges us to both read the Comedy through the heuristic tool of the Mediterranean and to read the field of Mediterranean studies through Dante. Akash Kumar is Assistant Professor of Italian Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on medieval Italian literature through the lens of Mediterranean and global culture, from the history of science to the origins of popular phenomena such as the game of chess. Recent work on a global Dante has appeared in the volume Migrants Shaping Europe, Past and Present (Manchester UP, 2022), MLN (2022), and the Blackwell Companion to World Literature (2020). Nine Mile Station, It's The Destination #ninemilestation #newmusic #tompetty #bobdylan #californiamusic Fastback Records are delighted to announce the release of a brand new album from Nine Mile Station, featuring Will Hawkins (WILL HAWKINS solo) and Fernando Perdomo (ECHO IN THE CANYON, FERN & CELLI, MARSHALL CRENSHAW).The self-titled album features 11 original cuts of modern Americana, with influences as diverse as Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, Bruce Springsteen, Wilco, Nick Cave, Neil Young and Bob Dylan.Hawkins, who released two solo albums in the 2000's, first came up with the concept for the band in 2019 whilst nursing his gravely ill mother, seeing the therapeutic effects his music had on her. After her passing, Hawkins began writing songs of hope and optimism and vowed to make his Nine Mile Station concept a reality.Hawkins first came across Perdomo whilst watching the documentary Echo In The Canyon. Hawkins comments “Fernando just jumped off the screen. I couldn't take my eyes off of him. His sheer joy of playing was so apparent.” Through a mutual friend, the two connected and a few weeks later Perdomo joined the band.Preorder: https://www.cherryred.co.uk/product/nine-mile-station-california-vinyl-edition/Website: https://www.ninemilestationmusic.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ninemilestationmusic/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ninemilestationmusicYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7ZeyMrwQrSl659Xm21FV6gThanks for tuning in, please be sure to click that subscribe button and give this a thumbs up!!Email: thevibesbroadcast@gmail.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/listen_to_the_vibes_/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thevibesbroadcastnetworkLinktree: https://linktr.ee/the_vibes_broadcastTikTok: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeuTVRv2/Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheVibesBrdcstTruth: https://truthsocial.com/@KoyoteFor all our social media and other links, go to: Linktree: https://linktr.ee/the_vibes_broadcastPlease subscribe, like, and share!
February 23, 1946. Grandview Heights, Ohio. 24-year old Lola Celli leaves her parents' residence in order to walk to the bus stop, but she soon vanishes without a trace. An eyewitness later reports seeing a woman struggling with a man inside a moving vehicle before a red shoe is thrown out the window. Since Lola was wearing shoes like that when she went missing, it is suspected that she was the victim of an abduction. Ten years later, the Grandview Heights police chief announces that the case has been closed because Lola was found alive in another town, but he never produces any evidence to confirm this and it eventually comes out that he may have been mistaken. Did Lola Celli disappear voluntarily or was she the victim of foul play? On this week's episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, we explore an older missing persons case known as “The Red Shoe Mystery”. Special thanks to Miranda Merrick of “The Midnight Library” podcast (https://www.midnightlibrarypod.com/) for narrating the opening of this episode. Bracket is an American rock band from Forestville, California formed in 1992. They have issued numerous albums, EPs and singles since its inception, including many releases for Caroline Records and Fat Wreck Chords. Their sound could most easily be described as power pop influenced punk rock with a continued focus on vocal harmonies. Bracket emerged during the pop punk resurgence of the early 1990s and released its first two albums 924 Forestville St. (1994) and 4-Wheel Vibe (1995) on Caroline Records. Following a staff shake-up, the label dropped the group and cancelled the release of its third album Like You Know in 1996. Bracket's next two albums Novelty Forever (1997) and When All Else Fails (2000) were put out by Fat Wreck Chords, who had previously issued 7-inch vinyl for the band. They released Live in a Dive (2002) which gathered some of the band's best-known material into one performance. Requiem came out in (2006), released by Takeover Records. They have a 70 minute album consisted of one “song”, the 28th installment of their “Warren's Song” series. The band recorded nearly 100 short fragments of songs, with the intention of piecing them together to create the 70 minute “Warren's Song Pt. 28”. Bracket completed work on their ninth studio album “Too Old to Die Young” in late 2018, which came out on Fat in 2019. Local housing advocate Luca Gattoni-Celli joins me for a conversation about urbanism – the study of the built environment and how people interact with it – and learning to view the world with fresh eyes. How differently might we see things if we throw a little curiosity into the mix? Luca Gattoni-Celli was deeply moved by the passion and tragic death of Jim Pagels. I hope this show contributes to that legacy: https://usa.streetsblog.org/2021/04/13/d-c-cyclist-jim-pagels-killed-by-driver-hours-after-tweeting-about-unsafe-roads/ Read more about YIMBYs of Northern Virginia: https://www.yimbysofnova.org Our theme music is by Sean Balick. “City Limits” by Albany NY, via Blue Dot Sessions.

Across the country in Georgia, Arizona, and North Carolina, candidacy challenges have bubbled up in courthouses seeking to knock politicians off the ballot for their alleged support of "insurrection" on Jan. 6. On Friday, the challengers advanced farther than ever before toward that goal in a evidentiary hearing in Atlanta, where Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) had been forced to testify under oath about her activities before the attack on the U.S. Capitol. The lawyer who faced off against Greene inside that administrative courtroom opened up on his interrogation in the latest episode of Law&Crime's podcast "Objections: with Adam Klasfeld," tackling such questions as the historical meaning of insurrection and whether candidacy challenges like these are leading up to an effort to disqualify Donald Trump in 2024."One step at a time," remarked attorney Andrew Celli, in an interview recorded two days after he went toe-to-toe against Greene. At the heart of the candidacy challenges is the third section of the 14th Amendment, ratified after the Civil War and barring anyone who swears an oath to the Constitution from engaging in or aiding an insurrection against it. Greene took her oath of office on Jan. 3, 2021, and for the challengers, her actions over the ensuing three days was enough to trigger that constitutional remedy. A federal judge already has allowed them to advance that challenge on the law.Indiana University Law Professor Gerard Magliocca also speaks on this episode about his testimony in Greene's case about how insurrection historically has been understood in the United States.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Michael speaks with attorney Andrew Celli, Jr, who is representing voters in GA 14th Congressional District, who are trying to make the case that under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, Marjorie Taylor Green should not be allowed to run for reelection. Original air date 26 April 2022.

Nomen est omen!? Bachs 3. Alles 3 oder was? Nein.
