Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi and William Thrasher discuss Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. Saturday Night Live veteran Mike Myers created the character of Austin Powers as a homage to the classic British comedies and spy films he'd watch as a child with his family. After being cryogenically unfrozen, 1970s spy Austin Powers (Mike Myers) has to reckon with the chaste 1990s as he battles his archnemesis Dr. Evil (Mike Myers).  There's a lot to like here. Mike Myers develops two very different characters playing the hero and the villain. There is a bit of romance and character development with his partner Vanessa Kensington (Elizabeth Hurley). Greater emphasis is placed on witty dialogue than scatalogical punchlines.  Mat caught up with the direct-to-video sequel to Dracula 2000, Dracula 2: Ascenscion. Taking place moments after the original ended with a new batch of characters save for Dracula himself, it mostly takes place in an empty swimming pool with Dracula tied up with silver chains. Taking a medical approach to bringing back a torched vampire is somewhat interesting, but it often drags with poor special effects and a lack of compelling setpieces. Thrasher went to the movie theater to watch Teen Titans Go To the Movies. A funny spin-off of the lighter Teen Titans Go! animated series, this feature film has smart jokes poking fun at prior comics, TV, and film incarnations of the massive DC Comics lore.
