In 1993 released La Ley, in 1995 released Invisible; Vértigo in 1998. In 1999 released Uno, which is considered to be their most successful album to date, and their last one Libertad. They also performed on MTV Unplugged, and released a greatest hits compilation, Historias e Histeria. And then he was stunned when I told him how much longer it takes to record and produce an episode without a guest as well as how much shorter the final product is.Anyway...I started poking around at the J.J. Cale catalog a few months ago, and I've finally made it through all 15 albums three times. And I really can't tell you what a delight it's been.Now the challenge will be to avoid my favorites (the playlist), and really step away from his work for a little bit so that it'll be somewhat fresh and enjoyable when I feel like revisiting.There is so much to appreciate within Cale's rich collection. Crafty lyrics, stellar musicianship from all involved, groove, funk, blues, dexterity, love, lust, companionship, and so on. Fabrizio Poggi joins me on episode 137. Fabrizio plays blues, folk and spiritual music. Hailing from near Milan, he took some time to find his way with the harmonica but since then he has performed at Carnegie Hall and been nominated for a Grammy.His first band was Chicken Mambo who played New Orleans music on their early album releases.Fabrizio traveled around the US where he made lots of friends and great strides with his musical development. This culminated with the making of an album in 2013 where the Blind Boys of Alabama and Charlie Musselwhite make an appearance.
