We are back today with Part 2 of our epic interview with Heidi Bruno. In Part 1, Heidi shared her story of suffering sexual abuse as a teenager at the hands of the Elders Quorum President in her ward.In Part 2, we shift the focus to Heidi's daughter, Holly, who was diagnosed with cancer at the age of eight and tragically passed away in March of 2018. Heidi describes the inspiring movement that Holly started during her treatment, called “Love Is Everywhere,” and the wide-reaching impact it had on many communities. While the gospel was a great comfort to Holly and her family during this heartbreaking time, Heidi also shares how her views on the LDS Church began to shift after experiencing the death of her daughter as a devout Mormon mother. We are extremely grateful to Heidi for her strength in sharing this sobering story and hope that it resonates with all of you as deeply as it did with us.You can listen to Holly and her sisters singing "This Is My Song" on YouTube here.___________________YouTubeAt Mormon Stories we explore, celebrate, and challenge Mormon culture through in-depth stories told by members and former members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as well as scholars, authors, LDS apologists, and other professionals. Today, my good friend Colt McCoy joins me for a deep and personal discussion about his path from small-town Texas to 14 seasons in the NFL, the mentors and moments that shaped him, and the intentional process of stepping away from the game. We talk through his early years growing up on the sidelines, the day he went from being a complete unknown to over 100 Division 1 offers, and the mindset he built while earning the starting job and leading Texas to the National Championship. Colt reflects on the physical and emotional toll of the 2009 title-game injury, the realities of NFL life, and the teammates, coaches, and owners who influenced him most. He also opens up about the year-long discernment process that led him to retire, move his family to Fort Worth, and build a new career in real estate. We discuss: • Colt's early upbringing around football and how it shaped his identity • Winning the starting job, leading Texas for four seasons, and the highs and lows along the way • The 2009 national championship injury and its lasting impact • Lessons from 14 years in the NFL, including leadership, longevity, and adapting his game • His decision to retire, prioritize family, and pursue a new path in Fort Worth real estate • The role of faith, patience, and discernment in navigating major life transitions Support our Sponsors Ramp: https://ramp.com/fort Collateral Partners: https://collateral.com/fort Links: Colt on X - https://x.com/ColtMcCoy Topics: (00:00:00) - Intro (00:02:51) - The realities of working for ESPN and calling games (00:11:15) - Colt's earliest memories of football (00:18:31) - The impact of Colt's dad (00:22:45) - Earning a scholarship to The University of Texas (00:34:34) - Colt's career at UT (00:47:32) - Colt's greatest memory at UT (00:57:43) - The state of College football (00:58:40) - The Michael Crabtree story (01:04:27) - The toughest environments to play in (01:06:24) - Colt's NFL career (01:08:58) - The biggest learning curve going from the NCAA to the NFL (01:17:35) - Who's the best athlete you've ever seen? On November 29, 2025, 19-year-old Texas A&M student Brianna Aguilera was found dead outside a 17-story apartment building in Austin, Texas. She had been in town for the Texas vs. Texas A&M rivalry game, staying with friends at the 21 Rio apartments near the UT campus. Within days, Austin Police held a rare press conference to announce they were treating her death as a suicide - citing a deleted suicide note found on her phone, text messages indicating suicidal thoughts, and prior statements to friends. They say all evidence points away from foul play. But Brianna's family isn't buying it. Her mother, Stephanie Rodriguez, has publicly accused police of a rushed investigation and believes someone in that apartment is responsible for her daughter's death. She says Brianna was afraid of heights, was actively planning her future, and would never have taken her own life. The family has now retained high-profile attorney Tony Buzbee to pursue their own investigation. The questions are piling up: Why wasn't the mother notified for almost 15 hours? What happened in the two minutes between Brianna's phone call with her boyfriend and the 911 call? Why did none of the three women in the apartment see or hear anything? And what about the witness who says she heard screaming and running that night? Adding another layer to this case: another Texas A&M student, Grant Hernandez, died at the exact same apartment complex in 2019 under strikingly similar circumstances. His death was also ruled a suicide. His father says he never got the answers he wanted. In this video, I break down everything we know about the Brianna Aguilera case - the timeline, the evidence, the family's concerns, and the questions that still need answers.

We discuss how her abuser groomed her using highly manipulative tactics and by abusing his authority in the ward. For years afterward, Heidi carried the shame of this abusive relationship, not understanding until much later that she had been a victim. She also shares what ultimately led her to speak up about the abuse once she gained the awareness that she had been victimized. Then, join us later this week for Part 2 of Heidi's story, where she discusses the loss of her eight-year-old daughter to cancer and the effect this devastating loss had on her LDS faith. The December 8, 1975 issue of Sports Illustrated had Texas A&M star back Bubba Bean on the cover because the Aggies were 10-0 after they beat the Longhorns. But the SI curse would get the better of A & M as the win over UT was their last of the season, as they lost to Arkansas and USC to close out the season. Another football team was also streaking… this one the NFL's Baltimore Colts who after a 1-4 start were in the midst of a 9-game winning streak led by young QB Bert Jones. The good news is that run got them into the playoffs. The bad news… it was in Pittsburgh. And the Steelers took care of business en route to their 2nd straight Super Bowl title. Pittsburgh writer Jim O'Brien has written over 30 books in his Pittsburgh Proud series many featuring the Steelers dynasty that began in 1974 and continued through the end of the decade. Franco Harris, Andy Russell, Rocky Bleier, Jack Lambert and more often were the subjects of O'Brien's writings and he knows that team as well as anyone. But Jim isn't relegated to just football. The founding editor of Street and Smith's Basketball Yearbook in 1970, O'Brien is an expert on hoops from half a century ago as well and he covered ‘em all… Dr. J and George McGinnis, the Squires and the Spirits, the ABA and the NBA… He tells us that Dr. J was better off the court than he was on it… how he cornered Franco Harris on a flight for 12 hours, interviewing him for most of the trip, and how the owners of the Spirits of St. Louis engineered the greatest business deal in the history of sports… and the key to the deal was that they would no longer exist. If you're looking for a 70's hoops expert, O'Brien is your man… add his expertise when it comes to that Steelers Dynasty of the 70's and he's the perfect guest for this week's Past Our Prime show. In this episode (Part 24), we dive into one of the most dramatic and painful chapters in early Letter-day Saint history: Liberty Jail. Joseph Smith was arrested on December 1, 1838 and eventually taken to Liberty Jail. Today we will cover his imprisonment, the chaotic legal proceedings that followed, and the eventual “escape” that allowed him to reunite with his family as the Saints resettled in Quincy, Illinois. We explore how internal conflicts, political pressures, treason charges, and widespread anti-Mormon hostility shaped Joseph's experience –and how his letters from Liberty Jail become some of the most cherished passages in Latter-day Saint scripture. We discuss betrayal, leadership crises, the brutality of Missouri's expulsion, and the Saints' struggle to survive amidst violence, sickness, and dislocation. This chapter also raises hard questions:Was Joseph Smith's trial fair? What role did dissenting church leaders play? How much of the Liberty Jail narrative has been “whitewashed”?What does Joseph Smith's behavior tell us about his character? We conclude by following Joseph's escape, his emotionally charged reunion with the Saints in Illinois, and the lasting trauma and financial strain the Missouri experience left behind. Welcome to another episode of our LDS Discussions series! In this episode, we take a detailed, evidence-based look at one of the most repeated claims in Latter-day Saint apologetics: that Joseph Smith was incapable of producing a well-written text –and therefore could not have authored the Book of Mormon.Drawing from Joseph Smith's three earliest letters (written in 1829-1830), historical context, church manuals, apologetic arguments, and modern scholarship, we critically explore where the evidence leads. We don't care where you land on the belief spectrum –our is clarity, transparency, and accuracy. We are joined today by Kolby Reddish and Julia (Nemo couldn't make it), who walk us through the major claims, the apologetic narratives, and the documents themselves. Stop letting your tax return tell the only story about your money. We invited Rob Cook—CPA, CFP, and seasoned advisor to executives, athletes, and families—to break down how real tax strategy starts with who you are, where you want to go, and the few moves that actually change your outcome. Instead of chasing every trick on the internet, Rob shows why stacking “base hits” creates immediate savings and flexibility, and how to choose one or two “home runs” that fit your strengths. We talk through the crucial difference between a historian CPA who files forms and a strategic partner who looks through the windshield. You'll hear why high-earning W‑2 professionals are not stuck, how accredited status opens meaningful options, and how to avoid complexity that rich headlines can afford but most people can't defend. Rob shares a simple, repeatable process: clarify your goals and constraints, close tax leaks hiding in plain sight, align strategy with life and cash flow, then implement and iterate as your fastball evolves. From HSAs, donor-advised funds, and retirement plan design to QSBS, cost segregation, and real estate professional status, we separate the tools from the hype. You'll learn how to convert personal costs into valid business deductions when facts allow, why lifestyle creep kills deployable capital, and how a personal CFO framework helps you save taxes without sacrificing sanity. The goal is clarity and control: a lighter tax bill, a simpler structure, and more energy for the work and people you love.If you're ready to make money simple and build around your true wealth creation play, this conversation is your blueprint. Subscribe, share with a friend who needs a better plan, and leave a review telling us your top “base hit” to implement this week.-----With over 10 years of experience in accounting and wealth management, Rob has worked with everyone from CEOs and world-class athletes to local families, helping them reduce taxes, build wealth, and achieve financial freedom. Holding both a Master's and Bachelor's in Accounting from BYU, he is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), and has passed Level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam.Known for bringing both expertise and personality to finance, Rob is passionate about personal finance, taxes, and investing. We’re back! Joey traveled back from Iowa, Nancy spent time at home, and Karly slept a ridiculous number of hours over the break. Today is the last day of class for Professor Nancy's UT class. Instead of holding real class, she is taking all the students to Main Event. Monday Morning Wake Up Call with 10-Year-Old Oakley and 9-Year-Old Kendall! Karly had to call 911 while working at Fantasy of Trees on Saturday. A man collapsed outside and needed CPR and an AED. It was really scary, and it made her want to renew her CPR/AED certification. Hot Tea: Lane Kiffin is officially going to coach LSU Football. 600 frozen turkeys were spoiled due to a truck breaking down the night before Tracy Lawrence was supposed to give them out to families in Nashville. He put out a call for the community to bring spare turkeys, and they brought over 2,000! Riley Green let Charles Barkley come on stage with him at a show in Auburn. Charles praised Auburn and had some choice words for Alabama. Joey and his wife Jhasta were super excited about the new season of Stranger Things. Joey wanted to watch it with Jhasta, but she watched it without him because he fell asleep. Americans spent a BUNCH of money on Black Friday. Nancy went shopping a little but left because the crowd was too much. Most “sales” aren’t even worth the hassle! Lucky 7 Joey survived Thanksgiving at his mom’s house, even after the drama last week. His mom had agreed to eat at 3pm, but the food was not ready then and they ended up eating way later. Plus, some other drama! We are having our 3rd annual Kidsgiving toy drive this Saturday! One Minute with Voice of the Vols, Mike Keith! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

"I Have Failed You": What Augie Garrido's Rant Actually Teaches About Coaching Kids Deven recaps the ABCA Youth Summit in Austin, revealing Pitch Smart 2.0 is actively being developed by MLB with universal pitch counts and app-based reporting. The coalition includes PBR, Perfect Game, and Little League, with cross-platform tracking for workload, coach certifications, and ejection histories. New Aspen Institute data exposes the crisis: a 6.9% gap between new players (41% annually) and kids who quit (35%)—a dangerously thin margin. Deven connects this to travel baseball Instagram jokes and MLB injury data (60%+ UCL surgeries on high schoolers and younger), arguing the sport faces a death spiral if public perception remains "injurious and family-hostile." He shares insights from visiting UT Austin with Coach Schloss, Tulo, and Coach Box: multi-sport matters for solving different athletic problems not acquiring skills, SEC coaches "coach the PO out of pitchers" for athleticism, and "season logistics are your kid's growth plate." Deven introduces UT's hero-hardship-highlight trust-building exercise and unpacks Augie Garrido's famous rant, focusing on the accountability line "I have failed you" rather than criminalizing kids' mistakes. The episode closes with self-assessment feedback loops using Jay Fletcher's viral 4-year-old videos, contrasting feedback-driven environments with forcing kids into Don Mattingly mechanics they lack the strength to execute.Timestamps00:00 – Intro, AxeBat code & new local training partnerships02:56 – ABCA Summit recap: Pitch Smart 2.0 in progress with MLB10:08 – Workload units, universal reporting & cross-platform coalition17:45 – The 6.9% gap: 41% new, 35% quit—leaky bucket crisis22:01 – Travel baseball moms, injury stats & death spiral threat27:25 – Fastpitch 300+ pitches: fatigue doesn't care about gender30:17 – Average umpire age 47: no next generation coming31:57 – UT visit: Schloss, Box, Tulo on multi-sport & athleticism38:52 – "They coach the PO out"—why 12U specialists are backwards41:04 – "Season logistics are your kid's growth plate"44:28 – Hero-hardship-highlight: vulnerability builds trust47:00 – Augie Garrido: "I have failed you" accountability lesson53:41 – Self-assessment feedback vs. criminalizing mistakes01:02:11 – Don Mattingly mechanics vs. feedback-driven environments01:05:01 – Outro: guest coming, training optionsLinksStart training with Driveline now with Academy Flex:https://www.drivelinebaseball.com/academy-flex/Develop bat speed with our Youth Power Bat for just $99!https://www.drivelinebaseball.com/product/youth-power-trainer/Skills That Scale: The Complete Youth Baseball Training Manual is out now!https://www.drivelinebaseball.com/product/skills-that-scale-training-manual/Train bat speed and barrel accuracy with our Youth Underload Smash bat - just $79!https://www.drivelinebaseball.com/product/youth-underload-smash-bat/⬇️ Host ⬇️Deven Morgan https://twitter.com/devenmorgan
Who really took the photo widely known as “Napalm Girl”? And does it really matter over a half-century later? In his new Netflix documentary “The Stringer”, Bao Nguyen (“The Greatest Night in Pop”) follows a journalistic team lead by Anglo-American Gary Knight as they seek to show that the real photographer on that day in 1972 in Trang Bang was not the renowned and fêted Pulitzer Prize-winning Nick Ut, of the Saigon AP Bureau, but a “stringer”, Nguyen Thanh Nghe, paid $20 flat and subsequently denied all credit. And Nguyen argues as well that it does matter not only to Nghe and his family, but also to: the Vietnamese people; the Vietnamese diaspora (who had long lionized Ut); to an America that has still not fully dealt with the war; and to the very nature of truth in an era when technology can both clarify and complicate provenance. You can stream “The Stringer” on Netflix. Follow: @baomnguyen on Instagram and X @topdocspod on Instagram and X The Presenting Sponsor of "Top Docs" is Netflix.

What if just 12 minutes a day could completely rewire your subconscious and transform your success? In this episode of Sharkpreneur, Seth Greene interviews John Mitchell, Entrepreneur and Professor at the University of Texas, who turned a lifetime of “average” results into extraordinary success by unlocking what Napoleon Hill left unsaid. Through his 12-minute-a-day method, John multiplied his income 25x, attracted his dream relationship, and now teaches his framework at the University of Texas and to top coaches and entrepreneurs. In this episode, he shares the full secret, the science behind it, and why only the most driven 2% are willing to apply it. Key Takeaways: → How rereading Think and Grow Rich 20 times revealed the missing half of the secret. → The role of the subconscious in controlling 95% of daily actions. → Why most people falsely believe they consciously control their choices. → The full secret: envisioning in detail with emotion every day. → The three stages of transformation: control, confidence, and automatic right actions. At 50, John Mitchell realized he wasn't as successful as he had hoped, prompting him to turn to Think & Grow Rich, the world's most renowned success book, read by over 150 million people. While the book reveals a secret to success, John uncovered the full secret and developed a groundbreaking 12-minute daily technique to apply it. As a result, his income skyrocketed 25x, surpassing the $200K he had earned annually for the previous 20 years. John's methodology, rooted in neuroscience and powered by an AI-driven algorithm, personalizes the success formula for each individual. He teaches this system at the University of Texas' McCombs School of Business and serves as the mental coach for UT's 18 head athletic coaches. John shares his powerful system in his book, The Missing Secret of the Legendary Book Think & Grow Rich, offering insights on working smarter, not harder, and rewiring the autopilot that governs 95% of our thoughts and actions.

Welcome to Part 23 of our Joseph Smith the Podcast series with Dr. John G. Turner. Today we are continuing our discussion of Chapter 19 of his new book “Joseph Smith: The Rise and Fall of an American Prophet” that covers the years 1838-1839 in Missouri.Today we will dive deeper into one of the most volatile and consequential moments in early Latter-day Saint history: the escalating conflict between the Mormon settlers and the Missourians in the late 1830s. In this episode, we examine how political tensions, misinformation, vigilante actions, and religious absolutism collided to create a crisis that would lead to the infamous extermination order and some of the darkest events of the Mormon-Missouri War.We explore the political landscape of Missouri, Joseph Smith's rising militancy, the Danites, the allegations made by Thomas Marsh and Orson Hyde, the tragedy at Haun's Mill, and the forces that brought both sides to the brink. From mob violence to theological justifications, from desperate settlers to governors refusing to intervene, this chapter shows how a religious movement and a frontier state found themselves locked in a spiral neither could escape. If you've been following the series, this episode continues directly from Part 22 and sets the stage for the next chapter: Liberty Jail. Please purchase the book here.To support this series please donate here. In part two of this important series with Rebecca Lucero Jones, we explore the question: What happens when a Mormon widow tries to be sealed to two men? In the LDS faith, a man can be sealed to a second wife if his first wife passes away. But, as we will learn from Rebecca's story, Mormon widows do not receive the same treatment. After the death of her first husband, Rebecca describes what it was like to find a second chance at love and marriage. She then shares her experience requesting a “second-sealing clearance” from LDS Church leaders (in order to be sealed to her living husband), and what their ultimate response to this request was.We also discuss how current policies complicate questions of the afterlife for these families. These policies leave widows feeling uncertain about their place in eternity and, in turn, often undesired by Mormon men who hope to avoid this existential confusion.___________________YouTubeAt Mormon Stories we explore, celebrate, and challenge Mormon culture through in-depth stories told by members and former members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as well as scholars, authors, LDS apologists, and other professionals.
