From early mystic folk inclinations to more fried and psychedelic work, Ben Chasny's Six Organs of Admittance project has never settled into an easy, definable zone. But 2024 sees the Six Organs sonic universe expanding kaleidoscopically, even by Chasny's prodigious standards. First was Time Is Glass, an album that documented his return to Humboldt County; then Jinxed By Being, a collaboration with ambient dub master Shackleton, and on September 27th, Companion Rises (Twig Harper Remix), which finds Chasny's 2022 album Companion Rises completely reimagined and re-created by sound artist Twig Harper. The results are unlike anything you've ever heard in the Six Organs catalog—though it's all part of the design, Chasny says. For this return visit to Transmissions, Chasny joins host Jason P. Woodbury to discuss his trio of 2024 releases, his experiences playing with David Tibet's apocalyptic avant-garde collective Current 93, his vision for the DIY recording zine Head Voice, the sounds of spiritualism, and cultivating online community through the Six Organs Patreon. Plus: Animator Mark Neeley drops in for a quick chat about Pure Animation for Now People, his new minute-long, hand drawn collaboration with Mark Mothersbaugh of Devo. For the 15th episode of 400 Floor we talk to Aaron Dilloway & Twig Harper, two figureheads of the American underground music scene whose 30 plus year journeys overlap with countless players, spawning a multitude of trends and communities. We discuss childhood experiences with music, their origins circling around Ann Arbor - that legendary hotbed of 20th century American music - plus their history with old friend and longtime bandmate Andrew W.K. and his relation to a shadowy figure named Steev Mike, who seemed to hold such power over Twig and Aaron that they actually refused to comment. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Enjoyed the fifth series of the John Dredge Nothing to Do with Anything Show at British Comedy Guide? Eager for more? Well, here’s the next best thing. On March 1st, John and co-writer / producer Richard Cray sat in a couple of very comfortable armchairs and waffled away for several hours when they should have been quality checking the episodes. Thankfully, this was covered for posterity – and possibly as a warning for future generations. Among the burning questions answered (sort of) in this, the first of two programmes are: Just how close did Twig Harper come to being killed off? Do aardvarks really go “gnick gnick”? Whatever happened to Richard’s TV pitch for Celebrity Russian Roulette? Why were Michael Jayston’s voice overs for St Ivel Gold so serious? Is any subject too obscure for this series? And what have the Lighthouse Family done to deserve such frightful treatment from a couple of unemployable writers in their early 50s? Part 2 tomorrow.
In this week's slightly concave episode, John stumbles on the secret of life but loses it again during a particularly dramatic game of Buckaroo, and a man who lives on top of your TV set becomes embroiled in string. In the words of Twig Harper, never ever ever ever EVER forget that, whatever this programme contains, standards will be upheld in this, the Year of the Cube.

Wolf Eyes have been making far out music for over 20 years. They stopped by the Poundcast during their LA residency to do some skateboarding and goof around. Fellow musician Twig Harper and Poundcast favorite Brent Weinbach join the discussion. Twig Harper sits down with Wolf Eyes to talk about the roots of their “freaker elements”, friendship, prison, psychedelics, and authenticity in music. “Trip Metal memes capitalize on confusion as a means of connection rather than a threat to authenticity.” T.W.I.G.'s Podcast is brought to you by mask.fm (http://mask.fm), a podcast network from Mask Magazine.
