Mrs. Pavani Kotak - Universal Children's Day:)
When Sheletta's kids flipped the calendar to November, they were excited about a special holiday coming up. The comedian thought her children were referring to Thanksgiving, but The Brundidge Babies informed her about Universal Children's Day! What is it, exactly? Cameron thinks it's a pre-Christmas, no chores, no school celebration for boys and girls everywhere...
Last week was Universal Children's Day, a day to promote the rights of children around the globe. But are human rights groups actually protecting the rights of all children? Why is the Swedish government sponsoring a project with an Islamic Jihad-run kindergarten? On this week's episode, our host Yona Schiffmiller and expert Shaun Sacks uncover the abuse of children by NGOs active in the Arab-Israeli conflict.Notes:Season 1 Episode 8: Teaching Kids to Hate: Incitement in Palestinian Textbooks:https://www.ngo-monitor.org/episode-8-teaching-kids-to-hate-incitement-in-palestinian-textbooks/Islamic Jihad kindergarten- An Internationally Funded Palestinian Kindergarten Indoctrinates Children with Simulated Violence: https://www.ngo-monitor.org/reports/an-internationally-funded-palestinian-kindergarten-indoctrinates-children-with-simulated-violence/Al-Bustan- French Government Supports Youth Project Involving Convicted PFLP member - Update: https://www.ngo-monitor.org/reports/french-government-supports-youth-project-involving-convicted-pflp-member/Dalal Mughrabi- European Secretariat Freezes Funding to Radical Palestinian Organization: https://www.ngo-monitor.org/press-releases/european-secretariat-freezes-funding-radical-palestinian-organization/Support the show (https://www.ngo-monitor.org/donate/)

UN proclaims Universal Children’s Day. In 1954, the United Nations General Assembly encouraged all countries to create a Universal Children’s Day to celebrate children and promote their welfare. On November 20, 1959, the General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, stating, “He may have a happy childhood and enjoy for his own good and for the good of society, the rights and freedoms herein set forth…” The 10 principles included protecting children from neglect, cruelty, discrimination and exploitation. Thirty years to that day, the UN proposed the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which was adopted the following year. As a result, every November 20th is now Universal Children’s Day. There is a lot of evil in the world, and children often see the worst of it. Is it possible to push back against the trials our children face in just a single day? It may sound like a tired phrase: “kids are our future.” But it’s true, and in too many places in this country and around the world, they aren’t being treated with the respect they deserve. Some are being discarded and abused. Others are raised in poverty with very little chance of getting a good education. There are small signs of hope on the horizon and we want to celebrate that as well as invite you to be part of the solution by joining Heart Beings, the emotional intelligence organization Six Seconds, and Crowdrise in a fundraising campaign. Listen to our podcast and learn about great organizations that are making a difference in the lives of children everywhere. Universal Children’s Day – November 20th “By resolution 836(IX) of 14 December 1954, the General Assembly recommended that all countries institute a Universal Children's Day, to be observed as a day of worldwide fraternity and understanding between children. It recommended that the Day was to be observed also as a day of activity devoted to promoting the ideals and objectives of the Charter and the welfare of the children of the world.” -United Nations
