In this episode of ABY we have the pleasure of hearing from Amy Morris. A fantastically skilled physical therapist. She is an orthopedic manual therapist and a certified Schroth Scoliosis PT like myself. But in addition to this, she has amassed a wealth of skills and knowledge for treating pelvic floor dysfunction. Amy brings her decades of experience that will help us see just how important the pelvis is for all of our health. We'll also talk about balance dysfunctions, bowl & bladder disorder, sexual dysfunction, and yes the link between the pelvis and scoliosis. Because these are sensitive subjects I would like to advise that it is adult material and may not be appropriate for children. In this episode of ABY, I've got a fantastic guest. Her name is Tamie Gangloff MA, MFT; she's is a family therapist and the national outreach director for Monte Nido. I was fortunate to find her speaking for the scoliosis website https://www.scoliosisandspineonlinelearning.com. Her particular perspective as a person with scoliosis, that has gone through surgery as an adult, with clinical expertise as a therapist, makes her a perfect guest for the ABY podcast. As a disclaimer, in this episode, there is mention of the topics of addiction, depression, and eating disorders. For this reason, we do not believe it is ideal for children to listen to without guardian consent. "Never" is used often with tasks we want to do or abilities we'd wish we had but what's keeping the "Never" from changing to an "I can do____." At times it may seem like you're moving a whole house to obtain an ability that you perceive to be impossible. The trust is that many of these impossibilities start first with the basics. This episode of ABY serves as an example of how something that may be complicated for many can change with a simple, everyday, tasks. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/cliffpt/support
How's your relationship with pain? The average person avoids pain. In fact; we can avoid pain so well that we are almost seamlessly (at least in our heads), compensate our body to not stand, sit, walk or even sleep to not feel discomfort. I talk more about fear of pain and avoiding pain in my latest monthly newsletter at https://cliffpt.com/mphn. This episode introduces the other percentage of people that are always moving into pain. Athletes are always pushing their bodies to the limits of strength, endurance, agility. Martial artists are doing the same but they are putting themselves in a literal situation where there's no implied pain. Devon Williams is a MMA fighter and coach at the Fight Frim Philadelphia.
