Brewed Up Apologetics is a brewing culture inspired apologetics platform. Through the conversational aspect of a brewed beverage, Tyler ventures into the quickly growing craft brewing culture to shine the redeeming light of Jesus Christ. Tyler is the Chap
Welcome to 2022! Tyler took some time to really hash out some of what the imago dei is in this episode. While sipping on a Switchback Brewing's Amber Ale from Burlington, Vermont, he dives into what he calls the economic imago dei. At just under 40 minutes, there is a lot there to unpack to hopefully launch you into a deeper dive into what you believe and why. Questions or comments or topic suggestions? This episode from a sermon Tyler did at his home church. Together they explored the idea of what it means to be a properly functioning image bearer. Tyler for this episode will not be cracking a cold one with you. He is recovering from COVID at the time of recording the introduction so in the interest of recovering fully, a beer was spared for another time.
The first interview of Brewed Up Apologetics and what better way to do it than with a friend, Dean Meadows. Dean and Tyler have been friends since Tyler's first residency at Biola University. Dean is an absolute powerhouse in the Kalam. Enjoy the interview with him as he explains a bit about the Kalam as well as how it is applicable to our faith. Before the interview, Tyler cracks yet another New Trail Brewing beer, Broken Heels. A beer that was featured at his wedding. Slainte!
Since it has been a while since Tyler has published a podcast, he wanted to give you an update on life as well as ministry. Oktoberfest season is approaching so that is what Tyler reviewed this time. New Trail's Oktoberfest had just released the weekend before and was worth sharing with you. This episode also is the beginning of a series of podcasts about the Image of God and Proper Functionality.
Tyler takes the last dive into the resurrection for the series of pints and trip through the Charlotte North Carolina breweries. Today he reviews Sycamore Brewing's Dime Bag Triple IPA. Unfortunately, he had to re-record this episode due to his lack of acumen so he also reviews Sugar Creek Brewing's Big O which is a blood orange IPA. In the episode, the last part of the historical section of the resurrection and some alternate hypotheses are discussed. The big question to ask is, "What makes the most sense of the evidence presented?"
Tyler begins diving into the historical side of the resurrection while continuing his beer journey through the Appalachian Mountains via Charlotte, NC.
Tyler was invited to speak at a local Cru movement just before easter. It fell perfectly in line with his current area of study and thought it was a good topic to bring up. He starts with the biological case for his death and then moving into some of the historical evidences for the resurrection. Though it was a pre-recorded thing, he still wanted to share what he was sipping on which was Hazy-O from Dogfish Head Brewery. Dogfish head is his favorite but for this one, he has some interesting thoughts and reactions.
In this episode, Tyler continues his discussion on the biological side of the resurrection of Jesus. So far he has talked about hematohidrosis, scourging, and the mocking of Jesus of Nazareth. This episode looks at the biological implications of the road to Golgotha and the crucifixion itself while sipping on another Charlotte, NC beer, MexiCali Stout by Birdsong Brewing. He also mentions part of his story about his divorce and how that has affected him. Please don't hesitate to email him at brewedupapologetics@gmail.com.
Today, Tyler continues to interact with the biological side of the two events leading up to the actual crucifixion of Jesus (the scourging and mocking) all while sipping something new to him: Reptar Juice. Reptar Juice is a monster brew from Twenty-Six Acres Brewing from Concord, NC and is a NEIPA for the books. Listen in for his review and some tasting notes and stats while talking about the most influential topic in the entire world, the crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth.
In our glass today are two of my favorites: Dogfish Head's 60 Minute IPA and the Resurrection of Jesus. Dogfish Head is my favorite brewery to date and with their culinary and foodie minds, they create some of the best and unique brews in the game. Their 60 Minute IPA is their flagship brew made using their unique system of continuous hopping. While sipping on that, take a bit of time to enjoy a discussion of the resurrection of Jesus. It is the central topic in the Christian faith and the whole thing hinges on it. This pint includes an introduction to the topic and a look at what happened to Jesus biologically in the garden of Gethsemane.
This second pint includes a taste of a New Trail brew: Snickerdoodle IPA, a delectable dessert IPA that is perfect for a Christmas gathering or an end of the day wind down. We finish our discussion on the Doctrine of the Trinity and how it compares and contrasts with Oneness Theology, or Modalism. Crack a brew open and enjoy the conversation.
Life is something that 2020 has brought into the spotlight. We have seen the deaths of so many due to COVID-19, but I wanted to take a step back and not look at individual cases or circumstances (COVID-19, abortion, assisted suicide, and the like). In this pint, we dive into the sanctity of life with a dram of Dogfish Head's Alternative Takes 2 which is a whisky finished in Palo Santo Marron barrels. This is but a sip of a very large topic in theology so enjoy a dram with me.
This first pint includes a taste of a collaboration that New Trail Brewing did with Imprint Beer. The rest of the pint includes some substance surrounding the debate between the heresy of Modalism and the orthodox doctrine of the Trinity. Take a sip and enjoy a good conversation.
This round concluces our exploration of the Doctrine of God and the coherence of theism. This pint includes the doctrines: omnipotence, omniscience, holiness/justice, and goodness. In the middle of it, there are some points for pondering as from current events that are affecting every one of us in 2020. Also, I offer up a sip of a review and tasting notes of a seasonal brew from New Trail: Zombies are People Too.
In this pint, I have a new release of what I am hoping is not a one-off, my first sermon. We explored the concept of why God matters in a culture that presses in on Christianity and Christian thought. Humanity, because of God, has ultimate meaning, value, and purpose. In the sermon we looked at all 3 briefly.
In this pint, Tyler takes on the task of looking at Biblical Theism and its coherence, also known as the Doctrine of God. Tyler walks through God's Aseity, Eternality, Omnipresence, and Immutability in this first part of Christianity's coherence.
In this pint, Tyler gives a little introduction to the podcast and himself.
