PRAYER is the difference between the best you can do and the best God can do. What we do FIRST matters MOST. Jesus showed a pattern in his prayer life when he walked the earth: It always came FIRST. Before miracles. Before the day even began. Before choosing his disciples. When we honor God by praying first, by seeking FIRST the Kingdom of God, we put our trust in the provider! PRAY. FIRST! (and still pray always!)

The story of Las Vegas begins with its geological formation in the midst of the Mojave Desert. Native American tribes, including the Paiute people, were among the first to inhabit the region, drawn to its natural springs and fertile land. The name "Las Vegas" is derived from the Spanish term for "The Meadows," a reference to the lush vegetation surrounding the area's natural springs. In the 19th century, Las Vegas was little more than a watering hole for travelers on the Old Spanish Trail, a trade route that connected Santa Fe to California. It remained a small and relatively isolated outpost until the arrival of the railroad in the early 20th century. The completion of the San Pedro, Los Angeles, and Salt Lake Railroad in 1905 transformed Las Vegas into a thriving railroad town, facilitating the transportation of goods and people to and from the area. The real turning point in Las Vegas's history came in 1931 when Nevada legalized gambling, making it one of the first states to do so. The legalization of gambling laid the foundation for the city's transformation into a hub of entertainment and tourism. The construction of the iconic Hoover Dam during the Great Depression also brought thousands of workers to the area, further boosting the local economy. In the 1940s and 1950s, Las Vegas began to embrace the concept of the modern casino-resort. The El Rancho Vegas, built in 1941, is often considered the city's first resort, complete with a casino, hotel rooms, and entertainment options. This was followed by other legendary establishments like the Flamingo, opened in 1946 by mobster Bugsy Siegel, and the Desert Inn in 1950. The 1960s and 1970s saw the rise of mega-resorts like Caesars Palace, The Mirage, and the MGM Grand, all of which featured not only gambling but also world-class entertainment, fine dining, and opulent accommodations. Las Vegas was no longer just a gambling destination; it had become an entertainment mecca. The 1990s brought a new era of growth and diversification to Las Vegas. The city expanded beyond the famous Las Vegas Strip, with the development of downtown and the suburban areas. The 1990s also witnessed the advent of themed resorts like the Luxor, New York-New York, and the Venetian, each offering visitors a unique and immersive experience. The 21st century has seen continued expansion and evolution. Las Vegas has diversified its attractions to cater to a broader audience, including families. The city now boasts world-class shopping, fine dining, golf courses, and a thriving arts and culture scene. Additionally, conventions and trade shows have become a major draw, with the Las Vegas Convention Center being one of the largest in the world. Despite its glamorous image, Las Vegas has faced challenges over the years, including economic downturns and natural disasters like wildfires. However, its resilience and ability to reinvent itself have kept it at the forefront of global tourism. In recent years, Las Vegas has also embraced sustainability efforts, recognizing the importance of conserving resources in the desert environment. The city has made strides in renewable energy, water conservation, and eco-friendly building practices. Las Vegas's history is a testament to its ability to adapt and evolve. From a dusty desert outpost to a glittering metropolis, it has come a long way. Today, it stands as a symbol of extravagance, entertainment, and opportunity, continuing to attract millions of visitors from around the world who come to experience the magic of Sin City.

On August 14, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis announced that the grand jury had returned a criminal indictment against Trump and eighteen other defendants for what they did in the days and weeks after the 2020 election. The story told by the indictment is that this group were part of a criminal enterprise that worked towards one singular goal: overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia. One of the people indicted is former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. He is trying to get his case tried in federal court instead of Georgia state court. In his petition, Meadows cites a 1899 case about margarine. Yes, margarine.

The latest Breakdown episode examines a federal judge's ruling denying former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows' bid to remove his case to U.S. District Court in Atlanta. U.S. District Judge Steve Jones released his 49-page order late Friday afternoon, and his findings could be bad news for former President Donald Trump, whose lawyers have said they will also seek to move his case out of Fulton County Superior Court. “Meadows Is Denied” of Breakdown's Season 10 – “The Trump Indictment” – by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution also covers a sometimes contentious court hearing before Judge Scott McAfee, who has scheduled an Oct. 23 trial for lawyers Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powell. And, as expected, more and more court motions are being filed with accompanying rulings in the election interference case involving 19 defendants. The question of whether the Fulton County trial of Donald Trump and his co-defendants will be removed to federal court is now before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and it's on its way to the Supreme Court. Judge Steve Jones of the District Court in the Northern District of Georgia denied Mark Meadows' motion for removal. He has now also denied an emergency stay of that ruling, and so the question goes to the appeals court in the federal system, even as the underlying criminal case percolates along in Fulton County court in Georgia. To discuss it all, Lawfare Editor-in-Chief Benjamin Wittes sat down with Lawfare Legal Fellow Anna Bower, Lawfare Senior Editor Alan Rozenshtein, and Lee Kovarsky of the University of Texas Law School, who recently wrote a piece on the subject for Lawfare. They talked about the right standard for removal and whether Meadows should be yanked out of Fulton County court, what the Eleventh Circuit and the Supreme Court are likely to do with it, how long they are going to take, and whether the federal litigation will screw up the timing of the Fulton County prosecution.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/lawfare. Mea Culpa welcomes back progressive activist and Twitter phenom Brooklyn Dad Defiant. Ever since January 6th, BDD has used his platform which reaches 1.2 million followers to push back on the MAGA agenda as well as the poisonous rhetoric they spread across social media. Brooklyn Dad Defiant joins us today to discuss the rapidly approaching Georgia RICO trials for some of the 18 conspirators as Trump finds himself deeper in the proverbial shit.
Georgia Judge McAfee just declared that Trump will not be going to trial in 2023 with his former attorneys Chesebro & Powell, and is most likely to go to in trial until late 2024, as he also ruled that the other 17 conconspirators will NOT be tried together but in groups of several in 2024, and rejected any effort by Meadows or others to delay their cases while they appeal their attempt to get to federal court. Michael Popok of Legal AF explains why the Fulton County DA must change course, propose groups of trials and make sure Trump is in “group 1” in early 2024 before the election. A federal judge just ruled that Mark Meadows failed to even make the minimal showing that his Georgia RICO prosecution should be transferred from state court to federal court. This finding is likely to be fatal to any effort Trump may have mounted to try to move HIS case to federal court. Glenn says this ruling means Meadows, Trump and their other criminal associates and co-conspirators will be tried in Georgia state court, and the trial will be televised and live-streamed for all to see. Then, the Georgia state special grand jury that hears the evidence in the Georgia state elections crimes investigation recommended that Sen. Lindsey Graham, Mike Flynn and others should be indicted for their crimes. The Washington Roundtable: Mark Meadows, Donald Trump's former right-hand man, took the stand in Georgia this week to argue that his actions in the election-racketeering case—in which he was indicted two weeks ago, alongside eighteen co-conspirators, including Trump—were taken in his capacity as a federal official. For that reason, he and his lawyers petitioned for the case against him to be moved from state to federal court. Meadows, who has been a significant and disruptive force in American politics since he arrived in Washington, in 2013, may be trying to have his case heard before a more sympathetic jury. “I don't think there's anyone I can think of in American politics,” the staff writer Jane Mayer says, “who's put his finger to the wind more often to try to figure out which way it's blowing.” What does Meadows's rise—and now, potential fall—teach us about the Republican Party today? The New Yorker staff writers Susan B. Glasser, Jane Mayer, and Evan Osnos weigh in.

The sixth episode of Breakdown's current season by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution recaps former chief of staff Mark Meadows' attempt to transfer the sweeping racketeering case to U.S. District Court in Atlanta. During a daylong hearing, Meadows was the first witness called to the stand. He testified for four hours, including a lengthy cross-examination by special Fulton County prosecutor Anna Cross. “Meadows' Gambit” of Breakdown's Season 10 – “The Trump Indictment” – also recounts the strange saga of defendant Harrison Floyd, head of the political group Black Voices for Trump during the 2020 election. This week on indictment watch we have my friend, mentor, and moral compass Norm Eisen the former Obama Ethics Czar. Norm's prescient op/eds for The New York Times have predicted what would happen in all four indictments every step of the way. He joins me today to unpack what happened Monday in Georgia and the likelihood of Meadows and any of the defendants having their cases moved to Federal Court.
Mark Meadows has been indicted in a Georgia state RICO case for being part of a criminal enterprise to overturn the results of the presidential election in Georgia in 2020. Meadows filed a motion to have his prosecution transferred from Georgia state court to federal court, claiming he was acting within the scope of his official duties as Chief of Staff to the President of the United States. Glenn explains why Meadows' motion should be denied. He also discusses a recent case where a prosecution was successfully transferred from a state court to a federal court, and how that case is dramatically different from Meadows' case. Today, Liz and Andrew tell you everything you need to know about Mark Meadows's efforts to remove the Fulton County, GA RICO indictment to federal court; about Sidney Powell's efforts to demand a speedy trial; and about the rising tension between Donald Trump and the rest of his co-conspirators. After that, the duo break down the impending ethics crisis in the Southern District of Florida documents retention case, and discuss how Judge Aileen Cannon, FSW, is on the verge of ignoring very real conflicts that could prevent Trump's two co-defendants from getting a fair trial.
