From the music writer of “Man of La Mancha”, Mitch Leigh, based on the critically acclaimed play “Hogan’s Goat”, we bring you “Cry For Us All”.  A dramatic musical telling the stories of Irish immigrants living in Brooklyn in the late 1800’s.  Somehow this hefty beast of a show was on Broadway at the same time as Hair and 1776, which is something to marvel at.  Grab your tissues and tune in for a truly wonderful ride.    Featured Recording: Cry For Us All Original Broadway Cast Recording – Project 3 Total Sound Stereo - 1970   For the rights to produce the show, your best bet is to contact Mitch Leigh’s estate.  Visit www.Bevarelli.com for more!  To hear Jen on The Poe Theatre on the Air: https://www.poetheatre.org/poe-theatre-on-the-air To hear Mikey Voice a sock puppet in Urinetown!  https://www.facebook.com/landlesstheatre/ To Learn more about Once Upon a Time: A Storytelling Podcast visit: https://astorytellingpodcast.wixsite.com/home FOR OUR PATREON: https://www.patreon.com/BuriedBroadway For our Instagram: https://instagram.com/buriedbroadway?igshid=4rq4psgc1ft1 We love hearing from you!  Email BuriedBroadway@gmail.com to get in touch!

Before Six was even a twinkle in the imagination of the West End, there was Rex.  A musical about Henry VIII (and a couple of his wives) that was brought to Broadway with the legendary Richard Rodgers as the composer and Sheldon Harnick (Fiddler on the Roof, She Loves Me) writing the lyrics.  This show has been forgotten to time, but we think his story needs to come to a head. A virgin to the Broadway stage, Lucille Ball stars in Wildcat! This unrefined gem was the product of Broadway legends Cy Coleman, Carolyn Leigh, and N. Richard Nash. They struck oil with the hit number "Hey, Look Me Over" but reviews declared the show crude nonetheless. See what all the drilling is about, hear Lucy sing, and stop us from making anymore oil puns in this description!Featured Recording: Wildcat Original Broadway Cast Recording – RCA Victor - 1961FOR OUR PATREON CLICK HERE!For the rights to produce the show visit: www.concordtheatricals.com

Let My People Come is the record that inspired this podcast!  Enjoy as you are thrown onto the sexual rollercoaster that was on Broadway in 1976!  But be warned... this first episode comes in with a bang (pardon the expression)!  It may not be quite up the same street as a classic theatre lover so if the title has already seemed a bit much perhaps it's best to skip to Episode 2 and beyond!  They are much more traditional.  But if this description and warning have done nothing but intrigue you more than enjoy as you listen to us giggle our way through this total gem of an album. Featured Recording: Original Cast Album - Let My People Come- 1974 For the rights to produce the full show visit: samdavidmanagement.comShow Notes - to see the resources we used to research this episode!
