Baby announcements can hit deeper than we expect — stirring grief, jealousy, and even quiet questions about God's timing. In this episode, I share 4 biblical steps to help you process the trigger without spiraling into bitterness and rebuild trust in the waiting. THIS WEEK ONLY Peace in the Wait is $27 instead of $49 - If you're in the middle of the two week wait right now, I created the Two Week Wait Audio Devotional to walk with you day-by-day—from ovulation to testing—with Scripture, prayer, worship, and steady truth; you can find it here: https://stan.store/coduinker/p/peace-in-the-wait

Prenatal Down's Syndrome tests, for instance, are now so widespread that in some Scandinavian countries almost 100 per cent of women choose to abort a foetus diagnosed with the condition, or – if using IVF – not implant the affected embryo. The result is a visible change to these populations: there are simply no more people with Down's to be seen on the streets of Iceland and Denmark.New technology is now available – at a high price – for those who want to go further. So-called polygenic embryo screening can give a very full picture of the adult that the embryo could become, including his or her vulnerability to an enormous number of diseases – heart disease, diabetes, cancer – and also the physical and psychological traits that he or she would likely possess: height, hair colour, athletic ability, conscientiousness, altruism, intelligence. Is this a good thing? Should we welcome a world in which parents are routinely selecting their embryos in this way? I'm joined today by two guests who take a very different view. Emma Waters is a policy analyst at the Center for Technology and the Human Person at the Heritage Foundation. Her work focuses on family, biotechnology, and reproductive medicine.Jonathan Anomaly is a philosopher, author of the book 'Creating Future People: The Science and Ethics of Genetic Enhancement', and is also the director of scientific research and communication for Herasight, a genetics startup that offers polygenic embryo screening. The Trump administration has created an incentive for Americans to have more children within the next three years. Any baby born between Jan. 1, 2025, and Dec. 31, 2028, is eligible for $1,000 of seed money in a tax-advantaged investment account known as a “Trump Accounts,” though any parent with a child under 18 can open an account for their son or daughter. The account operates similarly to an IRA, and parents, relatives, and friends can contribute up to $5,000 annually, though they do not have to make regular contributions. “Your child's funds will automatically be invested in American companies,” according to the Trump Accounts website. When the child turns 18, they can either allow the account to continue to grow, or they can withdraw the funds for education costs or to purchase a home. If the maximum amount is contributed to the account annually from the time the child is born, the account will have grown to over $270,000 by the child's 18th birthday. Between the rapid increase in the cost of living over the past 20 years, and many young people in debt with student loans, true financial freedom is a distant dream for many in their 20s and 30s, but “Trump Accounts” could change that for the next generation. If Americans take advantage of the program to its full extent, Generation Alpha, born between 2010 and 2024, and Beta, born between 2025 and 2039, can hope to avoid the financial situation many millennials and Gen Z young people find themselves in today. On this week's edition of “Problematic Women,” we discuss the potential financial and political implications of Trump Accounts. Plus, we celebrate the day of love and romance with our favorite hot takes on Valentine's Day. Enjoy the show! Trump Unveils New Initiatives to Bring Real Food to Americans Robert F. Send a textHow much oxygen is enough when resuscitating extremely preterm infants? This week on The Incubator Podcast, Ben and Daphna explore the TORPIDO 30/60 trial comparing 60% versus 30% FiO2 at birth. While primary outcomes were similar, babies in the 60% group needed fewer chest compressions and less epinephrine—a signal worth discussing. They examine an Indian non-inferiority study on surfactant thresholds (40% vs 30% FiO2), where waiting until 40% meant significantly fewer intubations and shorter respiratory support for the youngest babies. Ben presents compelling Melbourne data showing growth-restricted preterm infants face six-fold higher NEC risk—even with identical feeding protocols—and discusses how critical birth history gets "lost" as babies grow.Daphna tackles therapeutic hypothermia in late preterm infants, reviewing Toronto's retrospective analysis showing 34-35 weekers experience higher mortality and more brain injury compared to 36-37 weekers. As units rewrite cooling protocols, are we moving too fast on limited evidence? The episode concludes with Ben, Daphna, and Eli discussing the repeal of "sensitive locations" protections for immigration enforcement. Through the story of a mother detained while visiting her NICU baby in Chicago, they explore how these policies impact family-centered care and highlight advocacy opportunities through the Protecting Sensitive Locations Act.Current research meets real-world NICU challenges—all in one episode.Support the showAs always, feel free to send us questions, comments, or suggestions to our email: nicupodcast@gmail.com. Welcome to a new episode of ASMR Sleep Recordings. In this episode, you will hear a calming waterfall. Improve your health and happiness. The sound you hear in this episode creates a calm atmosphere and at the same time blocks out disturbing noises. This will help you de-stress, unwind, and rest. Enjoy two hours of relaxing sounds to help you relax, focus, study and fall asleep.About ASMR Sleep Recordings:The purpose of ASMR Sleep Recording is to help you sleep and concentrate better. This particular episode lasts two hours and has no ads in the middle, so you won't be woken up or disturbed while focusing or relaxing. When you listen to ASMR Sleep Recordings, you can lock your phone, so you won't get any bothersome stimuli from notifications and other sounds from your phone. You can switch between apps while studying or working without pausing the ambient sound.About our sounds:Water creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to running water is an ideal way to turn off all the stressful things life brings, and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds include a river, flowing creek, babbling brook, gentle waves on a lake, and a bamboo fountain. Rain also creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to rain is an ideal way to switch off all the stressful things life brings and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds are rain on an umbrella, hailstorms, hard rain, soft rain, gentle rain, wind and rain, rain on a car.White noise helps babies and children to get a better and deeper night's sleep. This is because external sounds are masked by the noise. With white noise in the background, your child will not hear annoying cars driving by or dogs barking in bed. This allows your little one to sleep better. And it also saves you as a parent a lot of hours!Pink noise is more common in nature than you might expect. It can be compared to continuous rainfall or wind. In addition to white noise, pink noise is also increasing in popularity, especially in business environments. Because it can increase productivity, concentration and creativity.Brown noise can be compared to waves of the sea, a river current, strong winds or the sound of thunder during a storm. Like pink noise, brown noise is very similar to white noise. However, the frequencies have been lowered even further and a lot more concentrated. This gives it a rougher/coarse tone than pink noise. It sounds a bit deeper and a bit bass-like. The benefits of brown noise are the same as the other types of noise. It provides relaxation, increased focus and improved deep sleep.DISCLAIMER: Be aware that loud noises can damage your hearing. If you can't carry on a conversation without raising your voice while playing one of our spheres, the sound may be too loud for your ears. Do not place the speakers directly next to a baby's ears. If you have trouble hearing or ringing in your ears, stop listening to the white noise immediately and see an audiologist or your doctor. The sounds provided by ASMR Sleep Recordings are for entertainment purposes only and are not a treatment for sleep disorders or tinnitus. Consult your doctor if you regularly have severe sleeping problems, experience fitful/restless sleep or feel tired during the day.ASMR Sleep Recordings is the white noise and nature sounds podcast to help you sleep, study or soothe a baby. ASMR Sleep Recordings has uploaded more than 400+ episodes in the 4 years that the podcast has been online. You can listen to all episodes of the podcast on your favorite podcast platform. People use white noise for sleep, focus, sound masking or relaxation. This podcast has the sound for you, whether you're using white noise to study, to soothe a baby with cramps, to fall asleep, or to just enjoy a quiet moment. In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Deepika Chopra to talk about what real optimism actually means — and why it's so different from toxic positivity. We unpack the science behind resilience, curiosity, and staying open when life is hard, and we get practical about how to grow your “optimism muscle” in everyday moments. We talk about language shifts (like the power of “never” and “always”), parenting through low-capacity seasons, rituals that ground families, and why affirmations and manifestation don't always work the way we think they do.I WROTE MY FIRST BOOK! Send a textIn this episode of Neo News, the team examines the intersection of immigration policy and neonatal care. We review a recent op-ed discussing the "chilling effect" of immigration enforcement on families seeking care in "sensitive locations" like hospitals. The discussion highlights a harrowing report from The 19th about a family detained by ICE while en route to the NICU, sparking a conversation on how fear impacts parental presence and follow-up adherence. The hosts explore the Protecting Sensitive Locations Act and the critical role neonatologists play in advocating for safe access to healthcare for all families.----Vernon, L., Swenson, S., & Miller, E. What does it really take to build a family when the path isn't traditional—and no one gives you a roadmap? In this conversation you'll get to meet my friend who I recently reunited with at a high school reunion. In 1555, London celebrated the birth of a prince. Church bells rang. Te Deums were sung. Birth announcements were prepared. Only… there was no baby. Mary I didn't just believe she was pregnant, she showed physical signs. But there was no baby. In this video, I take a closer look at Mary I's two mysterious pregnancies - in 1554–55 and again in 1557–58 - and explore what may really have happened. Was it: • A genuine but failed pregnancy? • A phantom pregnancy (pseudocyesis) brought on by immense pressure to produce an heir? • Or something medical - possibly a pituitary tumour, as suggested by Milo Keynes? I examine the historical evidence, contemporary reports, Mary's long-standing health issues, and the medical theories that may explain her symptoms: missed periods, milk secretion, abdominal swelling, headaches, failing eyesight, depression, and confusion in her final year. If you haven't yet watched my full Beginner's Guide to Mary I, I recommend starting there for the wider context of her life and reign - https://youtu.be/P_HVywkSww0 If you enjoy thoughtful, evidence-based deep dives into Tudor lives and mysteries, don't forget to subscribe. #MaryI #BloodyMary #TudorHistory #PhantomPregnancy #Tudors #HenryVIII #ElizabethI #BritishHistory #WomenInHistory #HistoryExplained

We must have had too much too dream lately because we're leaving the 60s behind and starting in 1979 with Suicide's beautiful trance-drone, "Dream Baby Dream." It's a fingersnappin' rock n roll lullaby with electronics! Next up, Angel Corpus Christi's version wows us with the accordion! Bruce Springsteen swerves instrumentally and has the hypno-drone come from an old-timey pump organ. His version provoked some visceral reaction and we get into that ... More recently, Black Tambourine's rendition features a down and dirty bass tone, and Neneh Cherry & The Thing give the tune some 'tude plus some jazz skronk. Which one's the dreamiest?

Sometimes it is as simple as black and white. Jason highlights that black athletes vs. white athletes has proven to be an enticing focal point for sports. See Magic Johnson vs. Larry Bird and boxing as prime examples. Jason poses the question: Would the NBA All-Star Game again become relevant if the league pitted the best black players against the best white players? Steve Kim and Jay Skapinac enter the conversation discussing the proposed NBA ASG format, what killed the Winter Olympics, and Joey Porter declaring Ben Roethlisberger a bad teammate. Shaun King joins Jason for the stretch drive, sharing his take on Porter's comment; discussing Colin Cowherd's sources saying Fernando Mendoza isn't an A-list pro QB prospect; and concluding with rumors that Deshaun Watson is a viable starting QB candidate for the Cleveland Browns in 2026.
