In Episode 12 will sits with a good friend and colleague, Michelle Owens to talk about a topic of her choice. This topic happened to be inspired by a book she read, Born a Crime, in which the author had several quotes that had her wanting to sit and dialogue with men and ask the question, why do some of us let unhealthy or abnormal relationships with our mothers have a negative impact on our current intimate relationships. This was a very fun conversation / debate that even resembled a "battle of the sexes" atmosphere at one point that was exciting but also very important as it pushed both of us to ask some very serious questions about ourselves and relationships from the persepctive of both men and women. Continuing with a Yoga theme for the second episode in a row, in Episode 11 I sit down and talk with Ashley Adams, yoga teacher and owner of Black Yoga Magazine. We talk about her motivation for starting a Magazine centered around the experience of black folks in yoga, where her practice has taken her, the learning curve of running her own publication and what she sees for Black Yoga Magazine in the future! Freya is an avid fitness junkie and Yogi who lives in the twin cities as well as being someone who is very successful in global software sales professionaly. She travels globally almost every week but always finds time to fit in a yoga session. As I've grown increasingly more into my own yoga practice and enjoyed what its done for me physically, emotionally and mentally, I've wanted to interview someone who has been into it alot longer than I have and has more of a proficient knowledge base surrounding it. Originally Published a few months ago, this episode was personal moment. A moment where I had reached a breaking point in my life, a turning point and had to vent and let all my emotions out in regards to the pressures and struggles of being an African American in this country. In Episode 31 Will speaks on how the age old addage about words not hurting you is in fact incorrect. Much has been said about the end of UFC 229 when Khabib Nurmagomedov squared off with Conor McGregor a year later after McGregor attacked his tour bus injuring some of Khabib's family members and weeks after McGregor insulted his religion, father and nation of birth. While many were suprised about the ensuing brawl at the end of the bout, I contend that it was actually predictable and should have been expected. People always say words cant hurt you but the connection is drawn to how Khabib acted as any human would when they are forced in a corner and pushed to their limits. Much like the behavior of protestors cornering politicians in public places and shouting them out after these same legislators have shown that although they were elected to serve the people, they have in fact been ignoring the people and serving their own private interess while putting their constituents lives and livelihood at stake. With so much in jeapordy, people are actually behaving in the way nature has designed them to and in a realistic human manner by lashing out to defend themselves. Adrian Mack is a good friend and colleague of mine who also happens to be a fellow Doula and Lactation consultant, making us the only two males in the state and first to do so. Zoe Hollomon is a local activist who fights for food justice and access to healthy food in a socially responsible way in the twin cities. In Episode 27 I interview Callisto Morgan, a sex worker who resides in New Mexico, and has been a sex worker for her entire adult life. She is a peep show dancer, cam girl and does her own amatuer porn. Callisto speaks on her trials and tribulations relationship wise, what she has ultimately learned about herself and what she has found works best for her when it comes to having the most successful personal relatioships!
