We can all agree on the importance of public safety. Yet, in today's world, many of the people in charge of public safety are doing their jobs with less information than an Uber driver. That is precisely the problem that Andre McGregor has set out to change with his startup ForceMetrics. Using his experience as a former FBI special agent and building cybersecurity software in Silicon Valley, McGregor is building a company that aims to deliver critical information to police and other public safety officials as efficiently as possible to help make us all safer.Andre recently spoke with Roland Siebelink on the Midstage Startup Momentum Podcast to talk about his idea, how ForceMetrics is changing the world, and his journey as a founder:How ForceMetrics worked with real police officers to perfect its product. The art of finding design partners and getting the most out of customer feedback. How to find the right investors at the right time. The things Andre is no longer allowed to do as a CEO.The importance of not overcomplicating things.

It's another milestone as The Fantastival Podcast reaches #180 and there's not many people who can say they've scored in The UEFA Cup (on his debut) and have gone on to support The Horrors and The Sisters Of Mercy (to name a few)…It can only be the ‘Britpop Footballer', Mr Paul McGregor. You're in for a treat as Paul talks about all things music, being a fan and a performer, his life in football starting with an unbelievable moment at Nottingham Forest. through to Plymouth Argyle, until the point where he retired at Northampton Town, the bands he has been in as we hear about Merc (and I ask him about the Alan McGee story), to Ulterior and The Upper Body (both are still going and Paul shares some great stories about them) and of course Mr McGregor gets to pick only 5 acts to make his Fantasy Festival lineup which is stunning, but has caused his all kinds of deliberation, which you can hear in this awesome episode! The Paul McGregor Foundation:https://www.paulmcgregorfoundation.com/book-onlineBritpop Footballer Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/thebritpopfootballer/Britpop Footballer Twitter:https://x.com/TBPFRIf you've enjoyed the Fantastival Podcast please give us a follow on Twitter @FantastivalP, subscribe on whatever platform you are listening to and give us a star rating on iTunes or rate the show and comment on the episode on Spotify and remember to check for our new episodes which are released every Sunday at 9am.Spread the word... and the word is Fantastival!
For the past 20 years, fast friends Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor have been wandering the globe on an eclectic mix of motorcycles. “Long Way Home,” the intrepid pair's fourth and most recent television series, captures their journey through 17 European countries aboard a resurrected 1973 BMW R75/5 and a well-traveled 1974 Moto Guzzi Eldorado.“There's something wonderful about a big trip,” Londoner Boorman relates to host Mark Long on this episode of the “Driven to Ride” podcast. “Sometimes, it almost feels like you're sort of on holiday and you don't want the holiday to end. You've got that freedom of the open road, you're carrying everything on the motorcycle that you need, and there you are, just going off.”While some aspects of their adventures haven't changed much since Boorman and McGregor set off on their inaugural 2004 trip—“two friends riding round the world together and, against the odds, realizing their dream”—the cameras used to record the experience, plus the advent of in-helmet communication, have revolutionized the process. But, as Boorman attests, it's still escaping. Film journalist and friend of the show Brandon Streussnig returns to discuss Danny Boyle's debut film Shallow Grave, a British riff on the 90s neo-noir template, self-described by Boyle and his collaborators as their take on the Coen's Blood Simple. The film chronicles a trifecta of beautiful, sociopathic yuppies sharing an Edinburgh flat (Kerry Fox, Christopher Eccleston, and Ewan McGregor) who unravel after the untimely death of their new roommate and the discovery of a suitcase full of cash. Frenetic, aesthetically bold, and brimming with terrific performances from its cast of newcomers, Shallow Grave stood in stark opposition to the more muted social realism of established British filmmakers of the era like Mike Leigh and Ken Loach and showcased the collaborative power of Boyle, McGregor, screenwriter John Hodge, and producer Andrew Macdonald only a handful of years removed from their landmark feature, Trainspotting. We discuss Boyle's aesthetic inclinations, his history in the theater, and how the cinematic medium can liberate a particular type of artist from the confines of the stage. Then, we unpack the film's stellar trio of performances, its economy of character, and especially McGregor's star-making turn that suggests the greatness he would achieve with Boyle in their next several collaborations. Finally, we explore the film's ire for post-Thatcherite individualism, its attacks on the moral vacuum of the upwardly mobile, the dramatic irony of a film about the corruptability of money even for those who don't need it.In addition, we spend a brief moment looking forward to Boyle's latest film 28 Years Later (a full Bonus episode on the film coming later this week) and what it supposes for Boyle's late period.Follow Brandon Streussnig on Twitter. Maycee Barber backed out of the Erin Blanchfield fight at the last possible second, and on today's episode I tell you what actually happened. Then, I explain why the stakes for Merab Dvalishvili vs. Sean O'Malley 2 are far bigger than you could ever imagine. And, Ariel Helwani and I disagree over what I recently said about Islam Makhachev and Ilia Topuria, but I still think everyone misunderstood me. So, I clear things up again. After that, Michael Chandler is still pining away for the Conor McGregor fight, and I've got a strong message to deliver to Chandler that I hope he takes to heart. And, Arman Tsarukyan took a shot at Paddy Pimblett saying his career is “built on handouts, hype, and shortcuts to the top,” but is it true? Is Jon Jones the biggest troll in UFC history? I begin with that. Then, with no news on a light heavyweight title rematch coming, I'm wondering if Alex Pereira actually wants the fight against Magomed Ankalaev. And after last week's slew of fight announcements, do we think Paddy Pimblett could face Ilia Topuria after the Spaniard fights Oliveira? Also, Topuria says Islam Makhachev ran from away from him, but is that the truth? And while Conor McGregor continues teasing a UFC return, I'm wondering fighters even want to bother fighting a much older-looking McGregor. To support this program, please leave me a review on Apple Podcasts or submit a rating on my Spotify page.Chapters:Jones the biggest troll in UFC history?
