A palace coup refers to a sudden and decisive change in leadership, typically involving the overthrow of an existing leader or ruling group, orchestrated by individuals within the same organization, government, or ruling class. This type of coup is usually non-violent and occurs without widespread public involvement, focusing instead on maneuvering and power plays among elites close to the seat of power.Key characteristics of a palace coup include:Internal Power Struggle: It involves insiders, such as government officials, military leaders, or royal family members, who use their proximity to the leader to execute the coup.Secrecy and Speed: Palace coups are often planned and executed swiftly and secretly to avoid resistance and ensure the element of surprise.Minimal Public Involvement: Unlike mass uprisings or military coups that may involve broad segments of society, palace coups are typically confined to a small group of elites.Control of Key Assets: The conspirators usually gain control of crucial assets like the military, police, or communications to consolidate power quickly.Examples of palace coups include:The 1964 ousting of Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev by his own Politburo members. The removal of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat in 1981 by members of his own military and government. In essence, a palace coup is an elite-driven power shift, marked by its internal nature and limited scope of confrontation. In this episode we take a look at the shocking and sudden removal of Joe Biden by the elite powerbrokers within the Democractic party and things currently stand as of now.(commercial at 8:20)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:

We spoke to a few people who don't think voting is worth their time. Some of you might even relate to what they had to say because they have valid concerns:Caller 1: I'm honestly not really bought in. I feel that neither the Republican or Democractic parties resonate with my morals or fully exemplify what I want in the world. And smaller parities will never get enough votes to win, so what's the point? Caller 2: My majority of voters in my state don't share the same political views as me. So what's the point of me voting if their side always wins? Caller 3: How can one vote out of a million votes make any type of difference? The truth is that the laws and policies we vote on affect our daily lives, workplaces, and communities whether we like it or not. But that can sometimes be hard to see when we don't have all the information. And not having the information ISN'T anyone's fault. The government and how it works is complicated—but it doesn't have to be. The systems we have now are the ones American citizens just like you put into place throughout our country's history by voting. So, if you want to find out how you can use voting to create the country you want to live in, tune in to S1E2 to learn more about the voting systems we have in place and possible alternatives. And we break down everything we covered into social media graphics that make it easy to understand (and share). Last night’s 12-person Democratic presidential debate proved a few things: 1. That’s too many people on stage.2. Elizabeth Warren has become both the front-runner and the target of most of her colleagues.3. Warren is proving to be a bit harder to attack than former front-runner, Joe Biden. This hour, we consider what happened on stage in Ohio, amid an impeachment inquiry and worsening situation in Syria. We also look at how Democrats are seemingly all in agreement on one thing: gun control. Also, state Democrats and Republicans are exchanging words over social media posts and a controversial speaker, but they may be talking a bit more productively over the issue of tolls.Support the show: http://wnpr.org/donateSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

CIPE Board member Claude Fontheim talks about how the rule of law, transparency and good governance underpin strong, inclusive development. Fontheim explains that investment alone is not enough and that support for public institutions is needed to ensure that the benefits of trade and economic growth reach all segments of society. He also discusses the direct link between development around the world and U.S. national security interests. Fontheim also talks about how U.S. companies contribute to the good governance of countries they invest in, and how they partner with NGOs and civil society to support initiatives in sectors such as health, education, and women’s rights. Fontheim discusses his early work with the Democratic Leadership Council and how he was inspired by Bill Clinton’s vision of “globalization with a human face.” He also shares how his family’s experience during the Holocaust shaped his world view and generated his interest in the forces that knit societies together and create peace.
