Let me preface this by saying: I absolutely do not have a PhD in psychology. I'm not a dating coach. And I'm in no position to give formal dating advice. But I HAVE been on more dates than my therapist and probably most of you, so I think it's safe to say, I have what people like to call, “real w…

Gina Ruccione is back and to kick off our second season, Gina sits with her producer Jun to dish about the dating fail that started it all, a terrible first date that made news headlines and vaguely brainstorm the idea of meeting dates on a dog-walking app.
Episode 34 - Welcome to the end of Season One, folks. After ending a *relationship with someone I had been dating for a couple months, I did what any normal woman would do, I immediately called my girlfriend to vent. This is that phone call. *It was never official or anything so I use the term relationship loosely. Don't worry, we'll dive into what the fuck to call dating, relationships, and basic human interaction in Season Two, because I can hardly keep up with the terminology.
Episode 33 - On this week's episode, I end season one of the podcast with a little bit of self reflection, as I review some of the past episodes and some lessons learned. My guest on this episode is Saskia Vogel, a friend and a fabulous published author, who's debut novel, Permission, is both beautifully written, deeply vulnerable and explores themes around loneliness and sexuality. We unpack a lot about work life balance and how that has impacted some of our intimate relationships.
Episode 32 - On this week's episode I chat with my friend Parker about getting catfish multiple times, how he dealt with his breakup that ended in his partner cheating on him, appropriate questions for a first date, and when it's ok to bring someone home with you.
Episode 31 - The Crotchless Guy On this episode of A Series Of Unfortunate Dates, we had the pleasure of recording in front of a live audience at Hey Hey in Los Angeles. Our host, a Gina Ruccione, shared one of her memorable dating stories and then pulled audience members up to the stage to recount some of their horrible dates.Special thanks to a few folks who made this possible:Alexander - Special Guest Jun - ProducerScott - Sound EngineerKevin - Film ProductionChris - Owner of Hey HeyMarc - Editor And all of the guests who shared!
Episode 30 - On this week's episode, I share a recording that I did with my dad back in February, when he was getting ready to go into surgery to treat his cancer. He and I are very close and very similar, and I spent this last weekend with him celebrating his 80th birthday, and while I thought we'd have a chance to record something new, we didn't have time, so I'm glad I have this pocket ace.We don't really cover so much about bad dates but rather dating advice in general. One thing I found particularly interesting is how much I've changed my approach to dating since February. I'm much more thoughtful now and pretty clear on what I'm looking for in a partner. I think previously or at least in the beginning of the year, I was still exploring some of those idea, so listening to where I was then and where I am now has been sort of fun to disect.
Episode 29 - In this episode I chat with David and Ahmad from The Authentic Dating Series podcast. They currently have a podcast geared towards men and helping them to show up more authentically in their dating lives, but I also think it's a valuable podcast for women to hear. Many of the gripes I hear women complaining about with regards to male behavior happens to be some of the same stuff that also frustrates men. This is includes everything from ghosting, texting etiquette, to chemistry and beyond. We unpack a lot of that in this episode, and at times it is a little hard to hear but stick with it. Enjoy.Check out Ahmad and David on Instagram @theauthenticdatingseries
Episode 28 - On this episode I chat with my friend and local LA tattoo artist @ceorink about an all too familiar story, of being on a date with a guy who thinks No means Yes. And of course, I'm talking about sex. While the episode doesn't get too deep, I almost wish it did. I'm tired of a so-called "gray area" around consent. I don't think it's that complicated. #metoo
Episode 27 - On this episode I chat with Haifa B., a relationship coach and matchmaker, who developed the Baeing Happy, a program set to help people "Bae Up" and find their ultimate bae (or babe). We unpack loads of stuff on this episode but mostly how to avoid epic time wasters, narcissists and how to get avoid getting roped into a hookup cycle - especially if that's not what you're looking for.Follow her on @baeinghappy on Instagram too!
Episode 26 - On this episode I chat with my friend Carol about how we deal with fear and insecurities in relationships, what it's like to be on birth control, why it's important to use your words and not throw glass items from West Elm. Oh, and as a reminder, I'm hosting my very first live podcast in Echo Park at Hey Hey on July 12 from 8pm-10pm. The evening is free and I'm excited to host this live story-telling and share the evening with all of you.
Episode 25 - On this week's episode, I'm excited to welcome back Carla Romo, Dating and Relationship coach. Carla is always a blast to podcast with, as she super fun to chat with but can pick apart the tougher topics like codependency and red flags without getting too technical. And, as per usual, I share a story about a date that lacked luster. Sometimes there's just no chemistry and I don't think it needs to be forced. If it's not there, it's not there.
Episode 24 - On this week's episode I pod with my mom and dad. I've been holding onto this episode for several months. Early in the year my dad was diagnosed with cancer and so I stayed with my parents for a little while. This episode was recorded the night before he went into surgery to remove parts of his colon, which you would never know because he sounds very chipper. My parents just celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary last week, so I felt it appropriate to share some of their tips and tricks for keeping things together.
On this episode I chat with my friend John, who I've actually known since elementary school, about some of our experiences dating people who are older or younger than us, his experience using dating apps, going back and forth between ex's and a story about a guy I met on a date who gave me an anal ultimatum.
On this episode I chat with my friend Chelsea about two of her most memorable bad dates. It's a very raw, unedited episode - in part because I currently have the flu and can hardly move and also because it's being recorded at my parent's house and they like to chime in and insert themselves both on my podcast and in real life. This pod episode airs on the lighter side and was hoping to lighten things up after a couple pretty serious pods in a row. Enjoy, kiddos.
On this episode I chat with relationship expert and dating coach, Carla Romo, about vulnerability, rejection and disappointment, specifically in the initial stages of dating or when dates don't seem to get off the ground. This episode made me want to cringe, when I went back to edit it. Not because the story itself is sensational, but rather the opposite; the story is relatable and it happened recently. If you are anything like me (sensitive and rejection adverse), this episode is like emotional equivalent of throwing salt in the path of snail, or at least it made me want to recoil. I'm really hard on myself, especially when it comes to rejection. I tend to make it about me and what I did wrong or how I could have been better or even how I could be more likable (which is nuts). Of course, after a little reflection, I've found the truth is that when someone doesn't like you romantically, it really has nothing to do with you. It's about them, their own needs and wants, and how those happen to be out of alignment with yours. So, if you're like me and you have a tendency to beat yourself up, give yourself a break. Here's Carla's website :)
On this episode I chat with Alexander Juan Antonio Cortes, who's tweet, "How to be a Beautiful Woman," including a ridiculous list of demands went viral. He shared that women should be thin, be able to cook, have long hair, wear make up, be feminine, be graceful, be sensual, shave (should go without saying), be fashionable, wear pink and feminine colors, love men, listen to men. I tracked him down and got him to podcast. Let it be known, you're not going to like everything he has to say, but I think you might be surprised. Debate is healthy. Enjoy.Oh, want to find him? That's here.
On this week's episode I chat with Melissa from the hilarious meme account on Instagram, @sh*tisaytoboys. We chat about some of the ridiculous messages men send to women via dating apps and beyond. We also discuss how men should and shouldn't approach women, a date where I showed up and he wasn't wearing any pants, and a social experiment that yielded sex in a New York airport.
On this episode I chat with my lovely, artist friend, Bridgette, who's shares that she's never used dating apps but is recently single and starting to figure out what that looks like for her. Other topics we cover in this episode are dating and race, which was in reference to another NPR podcast called Invisibilia: A Very Offensive Rom-Com.We also talk about what it means when someone needs space vs taking a break. Then, of course, we dive deep into a story about a mediocre #basicbro that I went on a couple dates with and then never heard from again. Also, do you yourself a favor and Google #patagucci.
On this episode I chat with my friend Jun about inadvertently abstaining from sex. I also dive into a story about a guy who slid into my DM's, who approached me under the pretense he wanted to work together but that whiskey business turned out to be risky business. Oh, and then we dive into match making. Should match making be the new new since dating apps aren't really the move anymore? Give it a whirl. Give it a listen.
On this episode I surprise an ex boyfriend at work and convince him to podcast. We dated for several months and it ended in the worst way possible - cheating, STDs etc. Don't worry it's not all yelling or tears. Join us as we sit together and dissect where it went wrong and how we survived the breakup. There's actually a lot of levity and laughter.
This week's episode has little to nothing to do with bad dates but rather a deep dive into what it's like to be a sex worker in Berlin. A dear friend of mine has recently moved to Berlin to pursue a career in sex work and shares her stories. Let it be known the sound quality is a little rough because she's Skyping from her phone but you'll get the gist.
In this episode I dive pretty deep with my friend Chelsea. We get into the negative self talk and thought patterns that dictated some of the dating habits in our 20's. We also talk about some mental health issues and some of it gets a little dark. Let me clear, I joke around a lot and I still joke around in this episode but dating is a part of life, and so life will come up on a dating podcast. It's important to me to let a conversation take its course. Enjoy!
Over here talking to a friend of mine that I had an awkward threesome with last year. On this episode we dive into things we do to make people jealous and late night text messages from the male species.
On this episode I chat with my personal trainer, Mikie M., about our experiences dating while on a health kick and dating while trying to find your purpose.
On this episode I chat with my friend Erica about our similar experiences dating men, who in the end, turned out to be married.
On this episode I chat with my friend Parker R. about his recent obsession with a fitness chick, what it's like dating you work with in the restaurant industry, and my experience on a date at the Hustler Store.
On this episode I chat with my friend Meg about red flags in men we choose to ignore, her experience on a date that turned ended with his girlfriend crashing her car into his apartment building and a guy I went on a date with that I thought I had chemistry with but it turns out I was just drunk every time I saw him.
On this episode I chat with someone I actually went on a date with and we review how the date went. We both uncover we weren't really in a place to date nor were we actually compatible.
In this episode I chat with a friend who prefers not to be named. We cover impotence, some men feel about sex on the first date and our personal experiences at sex parties.
In this episode I chat with my friend Kim C. about dating in Los Angeles, dating apps and literally everything in between. This episode in its original form was around two hours and was condensed down to three episodes.
