But we love a good conversation. In this episode of The 2 Be Better Podcast, we read raw, unfiltered emails from listeners who are trying to live out traditional marriage roles in a very modern world. We talk about a stay-at-home wife who goes back to work full time and finds a new sense of purpose, what happens to the marriage dynamic when she leaves the house, and why her husband's pride “hits different” now that she's in the workforce. We break down communication, teamwork, masculine leadership, feminine submission, mental health, isolation, depression, and what it really takes to rebuild identity when the kids are grown and the house finally goes quiet. If you're into traditional values, biblical style marriage, or just want honest relationship advice from a husband and wife who actually live this, this is your episode. We also dive deep into a girlfriend who wants a traditional relationship while her boyfriend still lives with his parents, how to submit safely only to a man who can truly lead, and what that looks like when you're still living separately. From arguments over conflict styles (talk it out now vs. taking space), to how to avoid weaponizing divorce, to rebuilding emotional and physical intimacy when you're exhausted, we walk through real examples from our own marriage: conflict repair, apologies, boundaries, leadership, and date-night habits that keep you out of the roommate phase. Expect hard truths, practical tools, and real-world traditional marriage advice on submission, leadership, respect, and intimacy that you can start applying in your relationship today.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/2-be-better--5828421/support.

AI has woven itself into our daily lives so quietly and so quickly that many of us don't even realize how emotionally attached we're becoming to it... and your AI chatbot might be destroying the way you connect & communicate in your relationships in real life. My guest, Dr. Rachel Wood, a licensed counselor with a PhD in cyberpsychology, helps us make sense of why AI feels so safe, so comforting, and in some cases so intimate, and what it means for our real relationships when a chatbot becomes the place we go to feel understood. We talk about the very real appeal of an AI companion that never gets tired, never gets defensive, and always seems to “get” you. And we also talk about the moments when that dynamic crosses into something unhealthy: when an omnibot becomes your therapist, your best friend, your partner, and your decision-maker… all at once. Rachel shares examples of how dependency forms, how delusions can develop, and why our relational and cognitive “muscles” matter more than ever in this new landscape. This conversation isn't anti-AI. It's about staying awake, staying human, and staying connected to ourselves and to each other while we navigate a technology that is becoming surprisingly personal. Episode Breakdown: 00:00 How AI Is Changing Human Relationships 09:20 The Spectrum of AI Relationships 20:18 Cognitive Offloading and Its Real-World Consequences 27:31 Using AI for Growth Without Losing Agency 32:59 When AI Becomes a Dependency 37:07 The Dangers of AI Escalation: A Suicidality Case Study 43:03 AI in Therapy: Tool or Replacement? 51:16 How to Support Someone Attached to Their AI If you're listening to this and realizing you may be leaning on AI a little more than feels good, or maybe you're worried about someone you love, please know you're not alone. These are tender places, and they deserve real, caring support. If you'd like a safe space to sort through what's coming up for you, or if you're craving more connection and clarity in your relationships, I'd love to help you get started. You can schedule a consultation with me or someone on my team. Tell us what's on your heart and what you're hoping for. What makes relationships truly thrive, not just survive? In this episode of Grow the Good, I sit down with Suzie Pileggi Pawelski, positive psychology expert and co-author of Happy Together: Using the Science of Positive Psychology to Build Love That Lasts, to explore how strengths, gratitude, and intentional effort create lasting connection.Suzie shares her evidence-based framework for building flourishing relationships using character strengths, gratitude, and virtue. We talk about how to balance differences, embrace vulnerability, and move beyond “utility-based” love into Aristotelian “love of goodness.” I also share some of my own reflection, from learning to appreciate my husband Matt's different strengths, to maintaining intimacy while raising kids.If you've ever wondered how to bring more meaning, patience, and joy into your relationships (romantic or otherwise), this conversation offers both science and heart.Top 5 Takeaways:Relationships Thrive on Strengths: Knowing and celebrating your and your partner's character strengths deepens understanding and connection.Balance and Awareness Matter: Overusing or underusing strengths can create friction, mindful awareness and communication are key.Gratitude and Vulnerability Build Trust: Truly receiving appreciation (without deflecting!) strengthens intimacy.Aristotelian Love = Love of Goodness: Building virtue-based relationships elevates love beyond utility or pleasure.Relationships Require Practice: Like going to the gym, thriving relationships take ongoing intention, curiosity, and growth.LINKSLearn more about Suzie https://www.suzannpileggi.com/about/Read Happy Together https://www.suzannpileggi.com/author2/#happyListen to Love in Your Golden Years https://www.audible.com/pd/Love-in-Your-Golden-Years-Audiobook/B0FJ2V1WL5?source_code=ASSGB149080119000H&share_location=pdp--------------The Grow the Good Podcast is produced by Palm Tree Pod Co.

Episode #1060 In this episode, Doug sits down with his wife Erin for a real, honest conversation about what happens when women feel like they have to carry everything and what shifts when they start softening back into their natural feminine energy. Erin opens up about her journey from being the "Angry Wife" to creating real connection, trust, and intimacy in their relationship. They talk about the difference between leadership and control, why so many couples get stuck in power struggles, and what actually works to bring the spark back. If you're constantly walking on eggshells or feeling like roommates, this conversation will hit home. You'll hear practical examples of what small changes look like. Things like planning the date night, opening the car door, or even just saying "Come sit with me" can shift the whole dynamic when done from a place of care instead of control. In this surprise-topic conversation, Rebbe Dr. Marc Gafni takes us deep into the esoteric and magical threads of Kabbalah-  first confirming that magic is real-  exploring how invisible forces connect all things and how we can participate in them through intention, devotion, and love.Moving beyond *only the realm of* spells and mysticism, Marc reveals how magic manifests in everyday moments: a dinner party where everyone comes alive, a comedian generating waves of collective laughter, or the courage to walk across life's narrow bridges without fear. He distinguishes between sacred magic—which creates wholeness * and blessing* catalyzing  everyone's highest Unique Self—and black magic, which fragments and diminishes and curses*The conversation ventures into profound territory: Why did faith in protective magic fail some Jewish communities during WWII? How does magic operate alongside other cosmic forces? What role does prophecy and the divine whisper (Lehishah) play in our lives? Marc shares validated stories of inexplicable protection during wartime while maintaining brutal intellectual honesty about magic's place in a multi-dimensional reality. At its core, this dialogue explores how we access magic through "outrageous love". which is the courage that comes from keeping our hearts ripped open, staying in conversation even when it's difficult, and blessing rather than cursing. Marc shows* that tears are *elixirs of magic* —* magical rivulets*of ecstasy, empathy, and connection—are the most direct access point to the magical dimension of existence. | Dr. Marc Gafni |Substack: https://substack.com/@marcgafniInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/marcgafni/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/MarcGafniTwitter:https://twitter.com/MarcGafni Whole Mate: the Future of Relationshipshttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F4PZ9V5B/Join the revolution: https://www.centerforworldphilosophyandreligion.com/jointherevolutionThis episode is sponsored byMetal Mark Golden Collectable Art |  https://mtlmrk.com/Korrect Energy | https://korrectlife.com/Hone Health | https://shorturl.at/JvhAJ| Aubrey Marcus |Website | http://bit.ly/2GesYqi Instagram | http://bit.ly/2BlfCEO Facebook | http://bit.ly/2F4nBZk X |  http://bit.ly/2BlGBAdAdSubscribe to the Aubrey Marcus newsletter:https://www.aubreymarcus.com/pages/emailTo partner with the Aubrey Marcus PodcastSubscribe to the Aubrey Marcus podcast:iTunes | https://apple.co/2lMZRCn Spotify | https://spoti.fi/2EaELZO Stitcher | http://bit.ly/2G8ccJt IHeartRadio | https://ihr.fm/3CiV4x3

Loneliness seems to be part of what it means to be a relational being. Does that mean loneliness can never really be “solved”? Here's one way to think about loneliness: As a gap between relational expectation and social reality—something that signals our essentially relational, reciprocal nature as human beings. This episode is part 6 of a series, SOLO, which explores the theological, moral, and psychological dimensions of loneliness, solitude, and being alone. In this reflective conclusion to the series, Macie Bridge and Ryan McAnnally-Linz explore loneliness not as a pathology to solve but as a universal, creaturely experience that reveals our longing for relationship. Drawing on insights from conversations throughout the series, they consider how loneliness emerges in the gap between what we desire relationally and what we actually have, and why this gap might be intrinsic to being human. They discuss solitude as a vital space for discernment, self-understanding, and listening for God; how risk is inherent to relationships; why the church holds unique potential for embodied community; and how even small interactions with neighbors and strangers can meet real needs. Together they reflect on grief, social isolation, resentment, vulnerability, and the invitation to turn loneliness into attentiveness—to God, to ourselves, and to our neighbors, human and non-human alike.Episode Highlights“Loneliness is just baked into our creaturely lives.”“There really is no solution to loneliness—and also that's okay.”“We invite a certain level of risk because we invite another person closer to our own human limits.”“There's no blanket solution. We are all experiencing this thing, but we are all experiencing it differently.”“I realized I could be a gift to her, and she could be a gift to me, even in that small moment.”About Macie BridgeMacie Bridge is Operations Coordinator for the Yale Center for Faith & Culture. Macie is originally from the small town of Groton, Massachusetts, where she was raised in the United Church of Christ. As an undergraduate at Trinity College in Hartford, CT, Macie studied English literature, creative writing, and religious studies. She spent a year in Chapel Hill, North Carolina with the Episcopal Service Corps after receiving her B.A. There, she served as Events & Communications Coordinator for L'Arche North Carolina—an emerging L'Arche community, and therefore an incredible “crash course” into the nonprofit world.About Ryan McAnnally-LinzRyan McAnnally-Linz is Associate Director of the Yale Center for Faith & Culture and a theologian focusing on flourishing, meaning, and the moral life. Many of us move through life repeating the same painful relationship patterns—feeling unsafe, unseen, or disconnected, even when we're trying our hardest to "do everything right." Invisible wounds from early experiences quietly shape the ways we love, cope, and relate as adults. Instead of recognizing these patterns as natural adaptations, we often turn the blame inward, not realizing that our attachment styles and protective behaviors are rooted in the body and nervous system as much as the mind. Real healing isn't about forcing change or consuming endless self-help advice—it's about reshaping your internal sense of safety on a deeply felt, embodied level. In this episode, we explore how secure, nourishing relationships begin with understanding the implicit memories, sensations, and patterns that live inside us. Learn how to meet old wounds with compassion, honor the protective parts that once kept you safe, and gently build new internal anchors of stability and trust. Using tools like the Wheel of Attachment and the practice of "finding your anchors," this episode offers both a clear roadmap and grounded encouragement for anyone ready to move beyond survival mode and experience connection that feels authentic, spacious, and truly supportive. Jessica Baum is a licensed psychotherapist, certified addiction specialist, and Imago couples therapist with advanced training in EMDR, CBT, DBT, and experiential therapy. She founded the Relationship Institute of Palm Beach and leads a global coaching company supporting clients worldwide. Passionate about trauma, attachment, and interpersonal neurobiology, Jessica helps individuals and couples heal and reconnect. Her bestselling book, Anxiously Attached, has made her a respected voice in nurturing secure, fulfilling relationships.   Episode Highlights 05:55 How early experiences shape our sense of safety. 07:48 Implicit memories and relationship patterns. 11:09 The importance of somatic (body-based) memory. 13:14 Reconnecting with the body for healing. 18:42 Understanding and honoring protective behaviors. 21:40 Building trust in healthier relationship dynamics. 25:00 The essential role of anchors in healing. 26:06 Why healing requires relationships, not willpower. 31:43 Finding and cultivating emotional anchors. 35:05 The Wheel of Attachment: A nuanced approach. 37:45 Earning security through supportive experiences. 40:31 Moving toward fulfillment: Real connection and support.   Your Check List of Actions to Take Slow down and take mindful pauses to help connect with your body and increase present-moment awareness. Notice physical sensations during interactions, especially in moments of emotional intensity, to access implicit memories and attachment wounds. Practice developing interoception—your ability to sense internal bodily states—to better understand your emotional responses in relationships. Identify and honor your protective patterns ("protectors") rather than judging them; acknowledge they were there to support you. Seek out safe "anchors" or individuals who can offer emotional co-regulation and support your healing process. Use the "Wheel of Attachment" framework to explore how your early relational dynamics show up in current relationships. If you lack supportive anchors, resource from memories of secure figures (e.g., a teacher, grandparent) or pursue professional support. Engage in relationships and healing spaces where vulnerability, witnessing, and somatic attunement are encouraged, facilitating earned secure attachment over time.   Mentioned Safe: An Attachment-Informed Guide to Building More Secure Relationships Anxiously Attached: Becoming More Secure in Life and Love SAFE (Interview and freebies link) Nurturing the Heart (Dr. Bonnie Badenoch's website) Conscious Relationship Group (Facebook group) (link) Relationship Institute of Palm Beach ERP 342: How Love Transforms Our Nervous System — An Interview With Jessica Baum ERP 276: Understanding The Need For Both Self-Regulation And Co-Regulation In Relationship – An interview With Deb Dana ERP 261: How To Strengthen Your Relationship From A Polyvagal Perspective – An Interview with Dr. Stephen Porges ERP 423: How To Transcend Trauma (And The Effects Experience In Relationship) — An Interview With Dr. Frank Anderson 12 Relationship Principles to Strengthen Your Love (free guide)   Connect with Jessica Baum Websites: beselffull.com Facebook: facebook.com/consciousrelationshipgroup YouTube: youtube.com/@jessicabaumlmhc Instagram: instagram.com/jessicabaumlmhc

Rebounding After Relationship Rupture: The Dangers of Premature Repair

In this episode of Recovery for the Narcissist, Dr. Eric Perry explores the delicate, often misunderstood moment that follows an interpersonal disconnect. This episode examines how micro-ruptures—those subtle moments when a tone shifts, a comment lands poorly, or a sense of distance quietly appears—can profoundly impact emotional safety long before anything is acknowledged out loud.Dr. Perry unpacks why these moments are uniquely challenging for individuals with narcissistic tendencies. He explains how discomfort, shame, and the loss of emotional control can activate defensive strategies that feel instinctive in the moment but ultimately undermine trust and connection. Instead of regulating internally, many unconsciously reach for overt defense, covert defense, or premature repair—attempts to ease their own discomfort rather than meet the relational moment with presence.Listeners will learn about: What micro-ruptures look like in real-life dynamics Why narcissistic individuals often rush to repair in order to regain emotional control The difference between emotional urgency and emotional responsibility How premature repair protects comfort but blocks connection Five essential practices for meaningful reconnectionDr. Perry offers clear and compassionate insight for anyone who has felt the sting of a subtle disconnect—or for those who may unintentionally respond to these moments with speed rather than attunement. Whether you've sensed emotional distance growing without understanding why, or you've noticed your own instinct to “fix things” too quickly, this episode brings clarity, language, and a framework for authentic repair.Tune in to discover how slowing down, staying present, and tolerating discomfort can transform a disconnect from a moment of emotional rupture into an opportunity for genuine reconnection. Healing in relationships begins not with perfection, but with presence, responsibility, and the choice to rebuild emotional safety one moment at a time.Connect with Dr. Perry: https://drericperry.comOwn Your Stuff Online Coaching Group: https://drericperry.com/ownyourstuffEmpathy Awakening Workshop: https://drericperry.com/empathyawakeningDisclaimer: The content contained in this podcast is for general information only and is not intended to be a substitute for professional advice, assessment, diagnosis, or treatment. What do you do when the person you love most is trapped in addiction—and you realize you're powerless to change them?  This conversation is going to share the raw truth about addiction and codependency that many Christians are not able to say out loud. The crazy-cycle is real in a home or a marriage where there is addiction. And learning to love someone who is addicted will take grace and wisdom that can only come from God. After living in the crazy-cycle for years, things started to make sense after Yvonne's husband revealed his addiction to pornography and drugs. But even after the truth came out, nothing would ever be the same again. As her husband entered a recovery process, Yvonne began her journey of uncovering her need to please and take care of others, and her drive to live a life of performance and perfection.  She needed to change just as much as her husband needed to change. Listen as Lynn Roush, LPC and Yvonne Bernard pull back the curtain on 5 pervasive myths Christians believe about addiction, the needed boundaries that will save your sanity, and the one truth that can offer you lasting peace. If you've ever felt stuck on the crazy-cycle of loving an addict, this hope-filled conversation is for you. Avoidants often need space because conflict never felt safe growing up. They want peace, so when tough conversations come up, they shut down and exit fast. If you are the one opening up, it can feel like abandonment. They take space without explaining it and often skip the repair. This pattern can change. It starts with owning your emotions, understanding your needs for space and autonomy, and upleveling your beliefs about yourself. From there you can use healthy communication to say you need space and still commit to coming back to repair.Join me for the Healthy Relationships Roadmap Call Week to start creating the healthy relationship you want - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSddL3tie849uvgD1m31l4MAH3AzH0FlWgnsG0gPEBEzeDyPyg/viewformDiscover your attachment style to break free from old relationship patterns.
