With how much uncertainty we've been living with these past few weeks, it may seem like living in fear is the only option. But the reality is that we cannot be ruled by fear and faith at the same time. God is inviting us to have faith because He is faithful, even amidst the uncertainty!

We live in a world where there is a constant current that threatens to pull us away from what matters most in our lives. And while drifting may feel like something that is beyond our control, it's a decision that can have dangerous consequences. This week, we'll discover how to stand firm in the face of drifting, and in doing so, embrace the Greater life and experience the good that God has planned for us!

Did you know that we make 35,000 decisions a day? These decisions are driven by our desire for safety and significance. But what if our definition of security is actually robbing us of the life we are intended to live? As we will discover in the book of Hebrews, Jesus is inviting us to leave the past behind, take some risks, and experience what is GREATER. Dr. Tim Anstine, a professor and chemist at NNU, will kick off our Greater series, helping us better understand Jesus as the Greater Word.

Instant communication is constantly at our fingertips. We connect with whoever we want, whenever we want, through emails, text messages, phone calls, and social media. With all of these communication channels accessible to us, we often neglect the most meaningful communication channel of all: prayer. In this week's sermon, we are reminded that the God of the universe desires to speak to us, and He longs to hear from us! We are invited to experience the power of prayer.

We live in a culture that values truth. We long to find “true north,” but our subjective moral compasses are broken. Instead of looking inside of ourselves for truth, we are invited to stand on the ultimate source of truth, the Word of God. It is in the Bible that we find guidance to help us navigate through cultural temptations and difficult seasons. We don't have to figure out life's puzzles on our own. God has provided all that we need in His Word!

As we conclude the “Bridges” series, we unpack the truth that all of our decisions set off a ripple effect. The choices we make do not only impact us, but they impact those around us. The Holy Spirit is inviting us to follow His guidance because He always has the big picture in mind! When we submit our ways to HIS WAYS, we find that our influence is greater than we could have ever imagined!

It is tempting to hang onto pain and anger toward those who have hurt us. When we do this, we find ourselves locked in a jail called “Bitterness.” The amazing truth is that God has given us the key to our freedom. The key is called forgiveness. When we understand and experience the amazing gift of grace that God has given to us, we are able to allow His forgiveness to flow to us and through us.

When things turn sour in a relationship, it is easy for us to see what the other person has done wrong to contribute to the problem. We quickly get caught up in the blame game. While others certainly play a part in relational tensions, we cannot control them. We only have control over ourselves. So, instead of pointing fingers at others, what if we open ourselves up to God and allow Him to change us? Maybe Michael Jackson was right when he said, “I'm starting with the man in the mirror.”

We live in a world riddled with comparison. We easily feel deflated or inflated based on our performance, what we see on social media, and the accomplishments of others. Unfortunately, comparison corrodes our relationships. But what if there was a way to combat comparison? In our message today, we learn that celebrating others is the best way to get out of the comparison trap so that we can build bridges instead of burn them.

There are tasks, people, demands, and to-do lists that fight for our attention every day. Before we know it, we are overwhelmed by the busyness of our lives. We suffer and our relationships suffer. Thankfully, this suffering does not need to become the norm. We are invited to lean into God's grace and to offer ourselves fully to Him. It is when we let go of the things that are consuming us, that we find ourselves captivated by the love of God. It is then that we are able to truly love others and build bridges.

We all have limits. Whether it is our age, financial circumstances, physical challenges, or schedule, we are tempted to think that something in life can hold us back. Yet, we can be encouraged that God's purposes are not compromised by our problems; God's purposes for us are founded on His promises.

At one time or another, every one of us has found ourselves consumed with grief, confusion, anguish, or loneliness. In these seasons, we wonder if we will ever be able to get rid of the pain. As we dive into the Biblical story of Mary, the mother of Jesus, we are reminded that God can help us worship Him--even in the midst of the most challenging situations. In reading her story, we find that praise decreases the power of our pain.

Life can often throw us curve balls. Unforeseen circumstances, difficult relationships, and financial stressors can create chaos that we didn't see coming. It can be difficult to find God in the disorder, right? Yet, in the most confusing moments, we have a holy invitation to hit the pause button. It is when we create space to process and ponder that we come to better understand how God is working in the messy margins of our lives.

Seasons of waiting can be painful and difficult. We may wonder if God has forgotten us or if He even cares. Yet, the Bible powerfully reminds us that God can powerfully work in our waiting. What if we decided to immerse ourselves in God's workroom, rather than sit idly in a waiting room? Our waiting does not have to be wasted.

We live in a world where people take crazy risks. I mean, do you remember the show, “Fear Factor”? Some risks are not worth taking, but sharing the hope of Jesus is worth the risk! We are willing to tell people about our favorite restaurants and sports teams, but we are more hesitant to share the hope of Jesus. If we really believe that Jesus is the answer to every human need, then let's take a risk and share the Good News!

We want to follow Jesus' call to share the Good News, but we often don't know how! Because evangelism is so daunting, we choose to “hide instead of seek.” The Scriptures remind us that sharing the Good News of Jesus really doesn't have to be complicated. God is simply inviting us to show up and relate with those around us.

We live in a culture that is becoming less Christian. More and more people are walking away from faith. Despite this, we know that everyone needs the hope of Jesus! We are called to be living stones, whose lives point to the love and grace of Jesus. While the world is calling for us to conform to the culture, Jesus is empowering us to share our stories.

We live in a very divided world. All we have to do is turn on the news to realize that our culture is saturated with conflict. Yet, Jesus calls us to live a different way: He invites us to build bridges instead of barriers.

We all want to know that we have purpose and significance in this life. Unfortunately, we can become so focused on our problems that we lose sight of our potential. God wants to remind us of who we, and whose we are, so that we have great hope and expectation for the future!
