In Jesus Knows Our Hearts, Michelle Lazurek explores how Jesus’ divine discernment reveals the truth hidden within every heart—and how believers can develop that same spiritual sensitivity. Drawing from Mark 2:8, this devotional reminds us that while people see only appearances, Christ sees the motives, pain, and wounds beneath our words and actions. Just as Jesus lovingly confronted the Pharisees’ hypocrisy and discerned the true needs of those He healed, we too are called to invite the Holy Spirit to search our hearts, heal hidden hurts, and guide us in extending discernment and grace to others. Highlights Jesus’ discernment reveals the deeper issues behind people’s words and actions. Healing and leadership both begin with emotional and spiritual health. The Pharisees’ outward spirituality contrasted with the impurity Jesus saw within their hearts. God calls us to develop the gift of discernment through prayer and the Holy Spirit’s guidance. True healing comes when we allow the Spirit to expose and heal unprocessed hurt, fostering unity in the body of Christ. Join the Conversation How has God revealed what’s truly in your heart lately? Have you asked the Holy Spirit to uncover wounds or patterns that need healing? Jesus consistently gathered crowds, even facing rejection from his hometown and religious leaders. In Mark chapter six, after a day of miracles, Jesus sent his disciples ahead by boat while he went to pray, observing their struggle against the wind from a distance. When the disciples encountered fear thinking he was a ghost, Jesus reassured them that he was there, calming the storm once he joined them. Pastor Jeff emphasizes the importance of spending time with God, recognizing our struggles as opportunities for growth, and maintaining a tender heart towards others, reminding us that with Jesus, there is no need for fear.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. In the famous Sermon on the Mount, Jesus shared, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” Jesus, as God in the flesh, knew grief as a man. He experienced loved ones die. He faced hunger and physical need. He was rejected and betrayed by the people He was close with. He felt loneliness and sadness. He was beaten and tortured in the cruelest ways before being killed on a cross for the very people He ministered to and came to save. And He did it for us, that all who put their trust in Him and what He did might be forgiven. The God of the universe came as a man and walked in our shoes. And He promises that in our deepest hurt and grief, that if we'll turn to Him, we will be comforted. I know I want everyone to know the peace and the comfort found in knowing Jesus. So let's share the hope of the Gospel in times of tragedy and grief. For resources, visit our website at www.sharelife.today.
Single in my 20's, in a new career, a new town and a new church, I felt okay mostly. Life was full and purposeful, but lonely on occasion. I wondered why families didn't ask me over for Sunday dinner. All I could think of was that my church friends must have thought I had such an exciting single life, I wouldn't want to come home to their normal, ordinary home and stand at the sink and peel potatoes or hold their babies while they got dinner on and then sit down at their table to get better acquainted. But that was exactly what I wanted to do. To be part of a family, if just for an hour or two. The Bible says God sets the lonely in families. I was lonely. I needed to be set somewhere. I got tired of waiting. So I called up some people. Invited them over. Invited myself over. I had a precedent and his name is Jesus. Sometimes you just have to make it happen and not wait for someone else to pick up the phone or send a text. I invited people over because I needed friends. I don't think people thought I might be bad company or that I would run off with the soup ladle if they had me over for dinner. I just think they didn't think of me at all. Maybe that's what loneliness is: To believe you aren't even thought about. Trishie's Apple Crisp 5 large apples 1 t. cinnamon 1/4 t. nutmeg 1 t. lemon juice 1/2 c water Topping: 1 c sugar 3/4 c flour 1 cube butter, firm Peel and slice apples Mix in spices, lemon juice and water Lay in 7 x 11" dish Mix flour and sugar together Crumble in chilled butter slices until it resembles small peas (as an alternative, spread flour/sugar mixture on top of apples. Prayer of Confession - Book of Common Prayer Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Rejoice! Jesus Knows You! Implications for Our Spiritual Journey! We humans, living within time, experience things with a beginning, a middle and an end. However, God does not work that way. With regard to salvation, the end always comes first. That may sound a little strange when we first hear it. The end is always before the beginning. When we think of life, we should know what that statement means. There are two ways of living. One is basically directionless. We drift along and feel caught up in things that move independent of us and are beyond our control. Many of us, if we are not careful, can spend many of our years on earth like this . . . directionless. Direction Implies a Goal This is very different from a life that has direction. Because direction implies a goal. It is a life going somewhere. And because of the light of this direction and goal, I do everything else. First, I know the end, then I know how to begin and what steps to move. Hear the significance of this reflection within the Homily. The Foundation of the New Jerusalem In the first reading of the Apostle John, he tells of the new Jerusalem. We hear this new city has gates and walls. We hear about the twelve tribes of Israel. But these gates and tribes rest upon something. There is a foundation with the names of the twelve Apostles. These twelve men upon whom Jesus built His Church. Israel of old, sits upon the foundation of the Church. It does so, even though in time, the Church comes later. Hmmm. Hear more in the Homily about what this means! What the Lord does is prior to everything else, even though in time, it may have happened later. Why was David king? Because Jesus Christ will come! Why is Abraham called? Because Jesus Christ will come! Why is Israel established? Because the Lord will form a new people. The Church. The Church is not founded on Israel. Israel is founded upon the Church. It is a marvelous mystery. Jesus Knows Bartholomew Before He Meets Him The Gospel talks about Bartholomew meeting Jesus. With the backdrop of the first reading, we hear about this meeting. It's an odd exchange in scripture. Philip tells Bartholomew they have found the Lord, Jesus of Nazareth. Bartholomew's response … can anything good actually come from there? Bartholomew asks Jesus, How Do You Know Me? Even before Philip called upon you … I saw you. Hear Bartholomew's response. How can Jesus know him, if they haven't met previously? Jesus saw Bartholomew under a fig tree, before they met. Understand the significance of that statement for our own spiritual journey. Before you were even born, Jesus saw you. Jesus looks out and sees you at Mass. He sees you before you do so, listening to this audio. Jesus knows You! What does that mean for our Spiritual Journey? Listen to this Meditation Media.
