In this episode of The Wright Report, Bryan reports that hopes for an Iran peace deal are fading fast, with the IRGC now threatening to open a new war front in the Red Sea alongside the Houthis and a leaked, expletive-laced phone call between President Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu revealing the worst rift between the two leaders in over a year. Bryan walks through Iran's escalating attacks on commercial ships, the strategic stakes of a potential Red Sea closure for Saudi oil exports, and uses the case of arrested IRGC terrorist Mohammad al-Saadi to argue that Trump's blind spot is trying to negotiate in good faith with religious fanatics who view this as an existential war. He lays out a clear path forward: a televised tactical retreat where Trump turns Europe, Asia, and the Arab states into the foil and puts America First, then pivots to a wave of Democrat judges rolling back Trump policies on the "86-47" assassination phrase, transgender troops, the anti-weaponization fund, the Kennedy Center renaming, and the green card abroad rule. Plus, Bryan closes with genuinely good news: US manufacturing just hit a four-year high under Trump's Triple B bill, General Dynamics is finally restarting 155 artillery shell production in Texas, and the Pentagon's new $1 billion Drone Dominance contest is recruiting backyard tinkerers and former drone racing champions to out-build America's adversaries. Welcome to Day 2874 of Wisdom-Trek. Thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom. Day 2874 – “Freedom From Bondage” based on Luke 8:22-39 Putnam Church Message – 05/03/2026 The Good News According to Luke: “Freedom from Bondage” Last week's message was: “Where Are You in This Picture?” We reflected on what type of soil our lives represent and whether we are hiding the light of Christ rather than sharing it with others. Today, we continue with our twenty-first message from Luke's narrative of the Good News of Jesus Christ. Today's message is: “Freedom from Bondage.” Our core passage today is Luke 8:22-39, which is found on page 1606 of your pew Bibles. Jesus Calms the Storm 22 One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out. 23 As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger. 24 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we're going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. 25 “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.” Jesus Restores a Demon-Possessed Man 26 They sailed to the region of the Gerasenes,[a] which is across the lake from Galilee. 27 When Jesus stepped ashore, he was met by a demon-possessed man from the town. For a long time this man had not worn clothes or lived in a house, but had lived in the tombs. 28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell at his feet, shouting at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don't torture me!” 29 For Jesus had commanded the impure spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had seized him, and though he was chained hand and foot and kept under guard, he had broken his chains and had been driven by the demon into solitary places. 30 Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” “Legion,” he replied, because many demons had gone into him. 31 And they begged Jesus repeatedly not to order them to go into the Abyss. 32 A large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside. The demons begged Jesus to let them go into the pigs, and he gave them permission. 33 When the demons came out of the man, they went into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned. 34 When those tending the pigs saw what had happened, they ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, 35 and the people went out to see what had happened. When they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus' feet, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. 36 Those who had seen it told the people how the demon-possessed man had been cured. 37 Then all the people of the region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to leave them, because they were overcome with fear. So he got into the boat and left. 38 The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying, 39 “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him. Opening Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for Your living Word and for the Gospel of Luke, which continues to show us more clearly who Jesus is. Thank You that You did not leave this fallen world to sink under the weight of sin, fear, and evil, but You sent Your Son into our darkness. As we come to this passage today, open our eyes to the power of Christ, open our hearts to trust Him more fully, and open our lives to the freedom only He can give. Calm what is storming within us. Break what has held us captive. Strengthen what has grown weak. And let us leave today with a deeper confidence that Jesus is Lord over every force that terrifies us. In His name we pray, amen. As we continue with our twenty-first message in this Luke series, we come to a dramatic turning point. Up to this point, Luke has shown Jesus healing diseases, cleansing lepers, forgiving sins, raising the dead, and receiving the broken. We have watched Him touch individual lives with compassion and power. But in Luke 8:22–39, the curtain pulls back even farther. Here, Jesus does not merely ease suffering. / He confronts the larger powers behind suffering. / He speaks to the wind and the waves. / He commands demons. / He crosses into hostile territory. / He delivers a man no one else could help. / And then He sends that healed man home as a witness. This is not just a story about weather and one troubled man. This is a revelation of the King who has come to reclaim enemy-held ground. The world we live in is not the world God originally made it to be. Genesis tells us that God created a good world, ordered, fruitful, beautiful, and fit for human flourishing. But because of sin, our world has become a place of storms, sorrow, chaos, fear, bondage, disease, death, and decay. We all know this, not just from theology, but from experience. We have all ridden through storms. We have all seen chaos. We have all known people in bondage. And if we are honest, some of us know bondage from the inside. So, this passage asks us a very important question: When the forces of chaos and darkness rise, who is Jesus really? Luke's answer is clear: He is Lord over the storm. He is Lord over the demons. He is Lord over the broken human heart. And He is Lord over the mission that turns the delivered / into witnesses. A Simple Object Lesson Hold up a small chain connected to a padlock and a set of keys. “This is what bondage looks like. Sometimes it is visible, sometimes invisible. Sometimes it is addiction. Sometimes fear. Sometimes bitterness. Sometimes shame. Sometimes torment of mind.” Hold up the keys and say, “Chains are strong, but keys represent authority. The chain may look powerful, but the one with the key has the final word.” Luke 8 shows us a man whom everyone else tried to bind with chains. Those chains failed. But when Jesus arrived, no chain, no demon, no storm, and no chaos could stand against Him. Christ has the key. That leads us to our first of four truths. Main Point 1: Jesus has authority over the chaos that terrifies us. Luke tells us that Jesus said to His disciples, “Let's cross to the other side of the lake.” So, they got into a boat and set out. Then, as they sailed, Jesus fell asleep. A fierce storm came down on the lake. The boat began to fill with water. The disciples panicked and woke Him, crying, “Master, Master, we're going to drown!” Now pause there and feel the scene. These were not children afraid of a little rain. / Several of these men were seasoned fishermen. / They knew this lake. / They had read the sky before. They had handled boats before. But the Sea of Galilee could turn violent in moments. Sitting far below sea level, surrounded by hills, and cut by sudden winds, it could quickly become dangerous. Ancient people often saw the sea not merely as water, but as a symbol of disorder and threat. To them, the sea represented what could not be controlled. The mighty sea serpent. So, when experienced men panic, this was no small inconvenience. And where is Jesus? / Asleep. That detail matters. It reveals both His humanity and His calm. He is weary enough to sleep through danger, and secure enough to rest in the middle of it. Then Jesus rises and rebukes the wind and the raging waves. Immediately, the storm stops, and the lake becomes calm. What a moment that must have been. One instant: shrieking wind, crashing water, frantic bailing, shouted voices, terror in the eyes. The next instant: stillness. Silence. Water settling. Hearts pounding. The disciples staring at Jesus in stunned fear and wonder. And then Jesus asks, “Where is your faith?” / Not, “Why were there waves?” / Not, “Why were you surprised that life got hard?” / But, “Where is your faith?” This passage does not teach that real...
Sent us text! We would love to hear from you!Every man gets handed the same invisible rulebook at some point: don't talk about your feelings, walk off the pain, say “I'm fine” when you're anything but. Episode 252 is about what happens when men finally put that rulebook down — and why therapy might be the most underrated power move a man can make. Commander Drew and Dr. Paul break down what's really going on behind the silence: anxiety, depression, stress, and trauma quietly stacking up in men of every background while they keep insisting they've got it handled. The warning signs don't always look like a breakdown — they look like disappearing from friends, snapping over nothing, or being physically present but mentally checked out. The episode reframes what therapy actually is — not a couch and a tissue box, but a structured place to get honest, get tools, and stop white-knuckling it alone. Therapy doesn't make someone the hero of your story. It just hands you a better playbook. Good News goes deep into the ocean — literally. Scientists discovered 1,121 new marine species in a single year, including a ghost shark older than the dinosaurs and a worm living inside what researchers call a glass castle. With 86% of life on Earth still unidentified, the message is clear: we are nowhere near done exploring. Jet Jolt puts the miracle of flight in perspective — roughly 80% of the world's population has never been on an airplane. Not once. For those who fly regularly, it's a reminder that what feels routine is actually extraordinary. The Frequent Flow-Line brings a letter from Brian in Manchester, England, who watches the show every week with his children and asks how Drew and Paul decided to join the Navy and become airline pilots. Their answers go well beyond career choices — they're about purpose, service, and what it means to keep looking up. The Wingmen PSA covers EFIL Fact #6: anger is really fear. Stress is the number one killer — and the prescription is simple. Sit down, shut up, and do nothing for 24 hours. The Gouge with Ace takes on a question every young person needs to hear answered honestly: what's the real gouge on success that nobody tells you? The Wingman Story closes the show with Charlie O. and Tyler — a classroom, a partner practice assignment, and one athlete who walks past the cool crowd to sit with the kid everyone else is waiting to see fail. It's a story about guarding someone's dignity — and discovering that's its own kind of greatness.
Welcome to ALIVE with Fr. Jonathan Meyer. This weekend the Church celebrates the Solemnity of Corpus Christi—the Body and Blood of Christ. In John 6, Jesus makes an astonishing promise: “Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you do not have life within you.” These words reveal the incredible gift of the Eucharist. Where sin brought death into the world, Jesus now offers His very life to us through Holy Communion. In this reflection, Fr. Jonathan shares: The beauty of Corpus Christi and Eucharistic devotion Why the Eucharist is the heart of Catholic life A touching story about children counting their Communions How gratitude can transform our relationship with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament Take some time this week to sit with John Chapter 6 in the presence of the Eucharist. Allow the Lord to deepen your love for this great gift and to renew your gratitude for His Real Presence. “He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.” Discussion questions for this week's readings can be found at:
Darryl Fairweather, Chief Economist at Redfin and author of Hate the Game: Economic Cheat Codes for Life, Love, and Work, joins us to explain why the housing market is doing something it almost never does here: cooling off.In this episode we break down the recent headlines that stopped Seattleites mid-scroll: prices here are dropping here faster than anywhere else in the country. Fairweather points to the perfect storm behind the slowdown: sky-high mortgage rates hitting expensive markets the hardest, Amazon layoffs, and a local tech sector that's lost the confidence it had pre-pandemic. She says San Francisco is eating Seattle's lunch right now, thanks to its AI boom. But Darryl also sees a silver lining: a slow, steady reset could finally make Seattle more livable and affordable for working people. We also get into the policy fights. Should Seattle build its way out of the crisis with more market-rate housing, or invest in social housing? (She says: yes, and yes.) Why does she think rent control or stabilization backfires? What can Seattle learn from Austin's building boom, and what should it absolutely not copy? And what about AI? Darryl thinks it could genuinely help by speeding up permitting or making modular housing cheaper to build. But she's not buying the hype wholesale. Contractors still need to show up and do the work, and no algorithm is going to fix a bureaucratic bottleneck.Send us a text! “The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. As the Scriptures say, ‘I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and discard the intelligence of the intelligent.’ So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish. Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe.” (1 Corinthians 1:18–21 NLT) In my travels, I’ve found that certain people are more open to the gospel than others. But identifying who will be receptive isn’t always easy. Because I never know how things are going to play out, I just share the Word of God as often as possible and invite everyone to come to Christ. The apostle Paul used a similar strategy. The book of Acts tells us that he received three reactions to the gospel when he preached it: “And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked, while others said, ‘We will hear you again on this matter.’ . . . However, some men joined him and believed” (Acts 17:32, 34 NKJV). Two thousand years later, those three reactions to the gospel are still pretty common. Some people mock. The word mocked used in Acts 17 also could be translated as “sneered” or “burst out laughing.” In other words, “Are you serious? You actually believe that?” To these educated fools, the Good News of Christ seemed silly and unbelievable. But this very mockery was an indication that they were going to perish. As Paul wrote, “The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God” (1 Corinthians 1:18 NLT). Some will mock, while others will delay: “We will hear you again on this matter” (Acts 17:32 NKJV). This is a very common reaction. What it means is, “I really don’t want to decide right now.” The devil uses this tactic to great effect: “Don’t worry about it now. Deal with it later.” The good news is that some people believed. They repented and changed their minds. Among them was Dionysius the Areopagite, who was a judge, an intellectual, and a ruler of the city. After his words in 1 Corinthians 1:18, Paul wrote, “As the Scriptures say, ‘I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and discard the intelligence of the intelligent.’ So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish. Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe.” (verses 19–21 NLT) I’ve come to realize that conversion is God’s job, not mine. It’s the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of an unbeliever. God holds us responsible for proclaiming the truth, even if it seems like “foolish preaching” to others. The rest is up to Him. What do you do when the church — the very community that's supposed to reflect the love of God — becomes a source of real pain? Host Dan Johnson sits down with Scott Bessenecker, author of Bad Religion, Good News: An Honest Guide to Spiritual Disappointment, for an unflinching conversation about church hurt, institutional failure, and the long road toward healing.Drawing on four decades of campus ministry with InterVarsity, Scott shares about being both a victim and participant in the church's sins, the role of self-examination in avoiding the spiral into deconstruction, and why honesty about the church's failures doesn't have to mean abandoning Christian community altogether. He also reflects on his own experience with disappointment with God — including his recovery from a stroke — and what it means to discover that God's presence in grief may be more powerful than miraculous rescue.Whether you've been wounded by a leader, disillusioned by an institution, or are simply trying to maintain an honest and hopeful faith, this conversation offers both clarity and compassion for the journey.IN THIS EPISODEWhat prompted Scott to write Bad Religion, Good NewsBeing both a victim and a participant in the sins of the churchWhy self-examination is essential to navigating disappointment without becoming toxicThe difference between deconstruction and honest disappointmentHow to talk openly about the church's failures without dismissing its goodThe hard work of forgiving an institution that may never apologizeScott's personal experience with a stroke and finding God in grief rather than rescueWhen it's time to leave a church community — and how to do it wellSigns of spiritual hunger in the current generation of young adultsWhat a healthier American church might look like in a decadeGUESTScott Bessenecker is a longtime ministry leader and author who spent four decades with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Where have you been lately? A young 19-year-old boy, Arjun Malavlya, wants to set the Guiness World Record to be the youngest person to visit every nation. He has already visited 118 different countries, beginning in South Korea. He has two years left to visit the remaining 77 U.N. recognized states. He has a Google translate which helps him in remote villages. He has only spent $22,500. The biggest thing he has learned, “People are more similar than different.” I admire the young man for visiting every country, but I wish he was going to share the Good News about Jesus. You don't have to set a Guiness World Record—just share the Good News where you are, then go to a place and share where you haven't been before.

Send us Fan MailIn this powerful episode, the pastor explores Mark 14, where Jesus and His disciples sing a hymnfull of themes of distress, steadfast love, sacrifice, and ultimate triumph right before heading to the Mount of Olives. Jesus then predicts that all the disciples will fall away and specifically tells Peter he will deny Him three times before the rooster crows twice, despite Peter's passionate vow to die rather than deny his Lord. The “good news” shines through the failure: Jesus was proven right , He remained unshaken in His love even while knowing their deepest weaknesses, and their scattering was never the end—He promised resurrection and restoration in Galilee. This story offers profound hope: Christ knows our failures completely, loves us anyway, and turns even our greatest denials into testimonies of His grace and faithfulness.
We're starting a sermon series on the book of Ruth. Ruth's story is full of difficulties and blessings. And through it all, Ruth remains faithful. Given our own circumstances of difficulties, the book of Ruth offers us Good News. The sermon is based on Ruth 1:1-22.

Paul the Apostle begins his letter to the Galatians by defending the Gospel of Grace. Remember how yesterday we talked about Jesus and Peter needing to pay their taxes, and Jesus tells Peter to do what he's always done – go fishing. But this would be a completely different fishing experience because this time, Peter was fishing with Jesus – and Jesus is the difference maker. God had perfectly aligned just the right fish with a valuable coin in its mouth to bite Peter's hook. That coin was the extraordinary way Jesus would provide that day. Right place at the right time. Not an accident – absolutely miraculously divine. Well let me tell you what happened yesterday at retreat. We had taken a train from Venice to Lake Garda. Not the original train we had planned – a different train, so our arrival had been a little delayed. Once at the lake, we hopped on our private chartered boat for the most gorgeous adventure. About 1 hour into our adventure on the water, our captain drove the boat under the drawbridge of a castle where we docked for lunch. At the precise moment all 11 of us are stepping off our boat, a frantic mother comes running up screaming, “Have you seen my son?” She can barely put together a cohesive sentence. “My son, my son, he's missing. 5 years old. My son.” All the BIG Life girls spring into action. We scatter in all directions, yelling, “5 year old boy. White shirt. Missing.” Most everyone we encounter responds with, “Haven't seen him” then continues on with their day. But not my girls – we're searching for this missing boy. It's one thing to be missing your child in a crowd. It's another thing to be missing your child in a crowd on the edge of deep water. We all felt the desperation. Eventually, far from where we had started, someone heard us and shouted back, “He's here!” We found him. And he was in the complete opposite direction of where the mother had run. There was no way the boy would have heard his mom. There was no way she was going to find him with such a distance between them. BUT GOD. God perfectly placed a boat full of 11 BIG Life Girls from all the way around the world at precisely the right moment to step onto that dock, hear her desperate cry and spread out on a mission to find her boy. Watching that reunion left every one of us in tears. Right place, right time. We got to be part of Jesus' extraordinary plans. We were the fish with the coin. Ordinary girls with a changed travel plan, stepping on shore later than scheduled, equipped with precisely what was needed. That, my friends, is how God works! Now, let's go even further. Here in Venice we seem to be having encounters with hurting souls in need of the Jesus we carry. I bet it's not just Venice – I bet it's in your town too. Hurting souls – they're absolutely everywhere. In need of what we have. But have you ever just gotten in your own way? Have you ever talked yourself right out of doing precisely what the Holy Spirit has prompted you to do? Have you ever felt way too ordinary to be used for God's extraordinary purposes? How can you possibly be their answer? Well, you're not their answer. You simply CARRY THEIR ANSWER! Remember that. You're a contagious carrier of Jesus. Allow contact so it spreads! That's it. Why make it more complicated than that? Here's the barrier with the hurting souls we've been coming into contact with here in Venice … we don't speak their language and they don't speak ours. Well that's simply NOT a problem for our EXTRAORDINARY GOD! Let me tell you a little story from your Bible. Imagine you're in the middle of this story. Okay, picture this … you’re one of Jesus’ closest friends. You’ve given up your job and your home, you’ve left everything and everyone you’ve ever known, to go with Jesus on his mission. You've been personally walking with Jesus. You've been part of some absolutely crazy miracles. You've seen his power. You know it's real. And you thought you would be doing this with Jesus for the rest of your life. But just 3 years into you and your tribe of 12 doing all these miraculous things, Jesus gets killed. Your leader is crucified. And now what? It’s easy for us to rush to the rest of the story, but remember this – Jesus’ friends didn’t know the rest of the story as they were sitting in it. They never saw this hardship coming. They never, in a million years, thought Jesus could be killed. Now what were they going to do? They had given up everything to go with him. They are afraid. Afraid they too would be killed. Afraid everything they had believed in and worked for was ruined. They were confused. Then, Jesus shows up in the room where they are hiding. Now remember, Jesus has died. They saw him hanging on the cross. They knew his body was put in the tomb. They also knew the doors to the room where they were hiding were locked. And boom, here’s Jesus, standing right there among them. And this is what Jesus says to them, Mark 16:15, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.” Then Jesus is taken into heaven. Jesus tells them to go. But HOW? Jesus, how are we supposed to go into ALL the world and preach to EVERYONE? We don’t have an airplane. The internet sucks here. We are poor fishermen, how are we supposed to go do all of this? We have no education. We have no resources. We have no connections. Jesus, I heard what you said, but we're just so ordinary. For 10 days they waited. For 10 days they must have wondered how Jesus expected them to tell everyone about God. For 10 days they must have felt so unequipped and unqualified for the calling. But on the 10th day, they were all together for the day of Pentecost. This was the day all of Israel gathered in Jerusalem to offer to God their first harvest of wheat for the season. There were people from Judea, people from Asia, people from Egypt and Rome, people from every nation all gathered to make their offering. Also there were Jesus’ 12 friends, his disciples. Suddenly God’s power came and rested on each of them and Acts 2:4 says, “Everyone present was filled with the Hoy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.” These ordinary men spoke Aramaic, but now filled with the Holy Spirit, they were speaking every language of the entire crowd. All of these people from every nation, all with their own languages, miraculously heard the magnificent acts of God being declared in THEIR OWN language. This is how God would use these 12 common friends of Jesus to fulfill his purposes. This is how they would go into ALL the world and preach the Good News to EVERYONE as Jesus had told them. God would do it through them in ways they could have never imagined. He would speak through them. His power would flow from them. He would give them the words which they couldn’t even possibly know. Literally a different language – hundreds of languages, spoken perfectly through common men who were unsure how God could use them. Now, back to you, Miss Ordinary. Why not you? Whatever it is that has been blocking you from being the hands and feet of Jesus wherever you are – you just need to know the Holy Spirit can perfectly equip you with absolutely anything and everything needed to spread what you're carrying. You're a contagious carrier of Jesus. Make contact! How exactly? Well I don’t know. When exactly? Well I don’t know that either. But here’s what I do know … you will have to show up unsure, uncertain, feeling totally unequipped, and be available for God’s Spirit to equip you. The disciples spent 10 days wondering how they were ever going to do what Jesus had asked them to do. It seemed an impossible task for them to tell the world about the good news of Jesus. And in that 10 days, they must have been drawing maps and making plans. They must have been overwhelmed with such a huge task and unanswered questions. Just like you … you’re in your 10 day waiting period that may have stretched out to cover a few years. You’re waiting and wondering. Questioning. Planning and preparing, but all of it seems inadequate. But my sister, the answers you’re seeking can’t be found in your elaborate 10 year plans. These answers are only found in the power of the Holy Spirit. God will equip you! He will enable you to do what you’ve never done before. He will bring everything together just as it needs to be, and you just need to show up and be available for it. At the end of Acts chapter 2, we see what God was doing by enabling Jesus' 12 friends to speak all these different languages – THREE THOUSNAD WERE BAPTIZED THAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!! What the Bible doesn’t tell us is the conversation Jesus’ friends must have had AFTER Pentecost. Imagine their after work dinner that night. Matthew says, “Dude, I was speaking to an Egyptian in his language, saying things I don’t even know how to say.” Then John says, “Dude, me too! Did you hear me talking in Latin?” And of course, here comes my favorite, wild and impulsive Peter and he says, “Guys, I don’t even know what language I was speaking, but that was awesome!!!” Then there’s a pause and they all realize … ohhhhh, so THIS is how we’re going to go into all the world and preach the Good News to all people.” God has given us the power to do it and it’s already started. Now, let's just keep going! You are the contagious carrier of what every person in this world needs. You're surrounded by hurting souls who are desperate for the Jesus you carry within you. The question is not whether Steven Spielberg knows some classified secret about aliens living among us. The question is why the culture keeps being pushed, decade after decade, toward the same conclusion: mankind is not alone, mankind is being watched, mankind is being prepared, and at some appointed moment a hidden truth will be unveiled to the entire world. The Bible believer already knows mankind is not alone. But what is watching this world is not benevolent space brothers from a distant galaxy. It is a fallen spiritual kingdom, working behind the scenes, preparing this present evil world for the arrival of Antichrist. That's the bad news, but we also have some very, very Good News to share as well.“Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,” 2 Thessalonians 2:9 (KJB)On this episode of the Prophecy News Podcast, Spielberg's Disclosure Day may be fiction, but fiction has always been one of the Devil's favorite testing grounds. It lets him introduce ideas before they are implemented. It lets him normalize the unthinkable. It lets him train generations to respond emotionally before they ever have to respond doctrinally. So no, this movie is not proof that aliens are among us. But yes, it is another loud signal that the world is being conditioned for something. The language of disclosure, revelation, contact, proof, and global truth is now everywhere. The world is not being prepared to meet “aliens.” It is being prepared to receive a counterfeit revelation that will draw men further away from the truth of the King James Bible and deeper into the coming kingdom of Antichrist. That makes the question this. How should the Bible Believer live in a time when all these things are going on? The answer is simple. We are to do the Lord's work of preaching, teaching and evangelizing with the gospel until He comes to get us. Whenever that may be. Towards that end, on this program, we will also be announcing the launch of ‘Operation:Africa!' that began this week, and share with you the amazing new door that the Lord has opened for us with the Gospel Ministry on the African continent.

Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Jim Sanders, Executive Vice President of Ambassador Advertising, shared about how He has seen God's faithfulness in his own life, “God's blessing has been beyond anything I could have imagined. In between, we started a satellite delivery company called Ambos. And it's clear based on who I am and who we are, that God's hand was in it every step of the way.” Through Ambos, God used Jim and his team to help Christian radio grow—pushing Gospel content to stations around the world. Jim could see God's hand in it all. And the same is true in our lives. When we look back, we see God's faithfulness—how He's guided and transformed us since we placed our trust in Him alone. And sharing our “God stories” can open doors to Gospel conversations. So today, tell someone how God's been faithful to you—and then share the Good News. In this episode of the Ephesiology Podcast, Michael T. Cooper and Andrew Johnson introduce Dr. Cooper's seminar, “Let the Stones Speak,” part of the Archaeology Meets Missiology series. The conversation explores five archaeological discoveries that preserve early memories of Jesus across Asia Minor, North Africa, Edessa, and the Arabian Peninsula. From inscriptions and graffiti to apocryphal traditions and Christograms, these discoveries reveal how the early church remembered, proclaimed, and worshiped Jesus, not only through written texts, but also through the material record left behind in stone. Along the way, Michael reflects on the difference between what Jesus did and who Jesus is, showing how archaeology can deepen our understanding of early Christology and encourage the church today. Keywords: Archaeology, Missiology, Ephesiology, Let the Stones Speak, Memory of Jesus, Early Church, Christology, Functional Christology, Ontological Christology, Abgar and Jesus, Edessa, Smyrna, Sardis, Pantokratoros Inscription, Christogram, North Africa, Thugga, Jordan, Arabian Peninsula, Crypto Portico, Archaeological Record, Material Culture, Early Christian Witness, Jesus in Archaeology, Gods Emperors Philosophers and a New Movement Key Takeaways Archaeology preserves early memories of Jesus. The episode highlights how inscriptions, graffiti, letters, and symbols offer physical evidence of how Jesus was remembered and proclaimed in the early centuries of the church. The archaeological record complements the biblical text.Michael emphasizes that while Scripture remains central, material culture provides additional historical evidence for what early Christians believed about Jesus. The early church remembered both what Jesus did and who Jesus is.The conversation introduces the distinction between functional Christology—what Jesus did—and ontological Christology—who Jesus is in his essence. Five discoveries point to the wide geographical reach of Jesus memory. The seminar focuses on evidence from places such as Edessa, Smyrna, Sardis, North Africa, and the desert of Jordan. The Abgar-Jesus tradition reflects a broad and enduring memory.Though apocryphal in nature, the Abgar tradition is significant because of its wide geographical spread across places such as Egypt, Armenia, and Turkey. The Sardis Pantokratoros inscription raises important questions.Michael notes that the inscription may contribute to broader evidence suggesting Christian use of the so-called synagogue at Sardis. The Christogram in North Africa shows how Christian symbols could be overlooked or forgotten.Michael recounts seeing a Christogram dismissed as a sundial, showing how visible Christian memory can remain unrecognized in certain contexts. The Arabian Peninsula may yield more discoveries. The Jordan inscription points toward the possibility of future finds that may further illuminate the presence and memory of Jesus in Arabia. Research continues after publication.Andrew notes that Michael's seminar includes discoveries and developments not fully represented in his book, reminding listeners that scholarship is an ongoing process. Archaeology can be faith-building and encouraging. The episode closes with the reminder that seeing the historical and physical impact of Jesus across regions and centuries can strengthen faith and deepen wonder. Pick up Dr. Cooper’s latest book Religions, politics, and education shaped the cultural world of Asia Minor where a new faith emerged that would change history. Gods, Emperors, Philosophers, and a New Movement uncovers how the earliest Christians navigated—and often disrupted and adapted—the dominant forces of their age. Drawing on decades of research, fieldwork, and teaching, Michael T. Cooper takes readers beneath the surface of Ephesos, Smyrna, Pergamon, and other cities to reveal how temples, inscriptions, and civic spaces illuminate the missionary impulse of the first Christians. Far from being silent, the archaeological record testifies to their resilience, creativity, and bold proclamation of the gospel in a world saturated with competing loyalties. This is more than history. By examining how the early church encountered powerful religious traditions, political ideologies, and systems of education, today's missionaries and church leaders gain fresh vision for gospel engagement in their own pluralistic and contested contexts. The dynamics that shaped mission in the first centuries—identity, power, worldview, and cultural disruption—remain central to how the good news advances today. This book is an invitation to rediscover the mission of God in the archaeological record and to discern its enduring relevance for faithful witness in the twenty-first century. In this winsome study, Ephesiology offers readers a comprehensive view of the empowering work of the Holy Spirit in the most significant city of the New Testament, and compels us to ask the question: how can we effectively connect Christ to our culture? “Masterfully handling the book of Ephesians and using its content as a definitive guide, Michael Cooper lays a theologically strong foundation that is both corrective and directive to disciple making movements. The principles he gleans from the book of Ephesians and related texts, help to ensure the on-going multiplication and maturation of a movement. https://wels2.blob.core.windows.net/daily-devotions/20260527dev.mp3 Listen to Devotion No one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:3 Life-Giver The camera pans over an old, abandoned farm truck that has been sitting in the woods for decades. Ivy covers it. Moss covers it. A small tree grows through a rusty hole. Mice have built a nest in the cab. And over the years, the wheels have settled into the dirt. But then along comes a cheerful backyard mechanic by the name of Derek Bieri. With basic tools and good-natured humor, Derek goes to work on the hulk sitting before him. Despite setbacks and disappointments, he patiently persists until the thrilling moment when the long-forgotten truck roars to life and comes out of the woods under its own power. This is the magic behind the wildly popular YouTube program entitled “Vice Grip Garage.” Each episode features a dead and forsaken car or truck that Derek manages to bring to life. One thing is for certain. These vehicles do not repair themselves. They start and run only because of Derek. By nature, I am far worse off than any rusted wreck left in the woods. Not only am I born spiritually dead, but my attitude towards the true God is downright hostile. On my own, I have no ability whatsoever to trust in Jesus as my Savior from sin. There’s a greater likelihood that a dead farm truck from “Vice Grip Garage” would bring itself to life and drive itself out of the woods. But that’s where the Lord comes in. Not only did he send his Son to become human and live a perfect life in my place. Not only did Jesus pay for my every sin through his death at Calvary’s cross, but he also raised himself from the grave. He has even sent God the Holy Spirit to bring my spiritually dead heart to life. Through the power of the Good News of Jesus, the Spirit has created within me the miracle of faith. And through this miraculous faith, I now receive full forgiveness, peace with God, and eternal life as my personal possessions. Giving life: There’s nothing the Holy Spirit enjoys more. Prayer: Holy Spirit, my heart was dead. But through your gospel you have brought me to life. Thank you. Amen. Daily Devotions is brought to you by WELS. I was teaching at a national seminar on how to communicate an unchanging Christ in our rapidly changing culture. Well, at the end of a session, a pastor from Kentucky came up to tell me his story he thought really illustrated some of what I had been saying. He said, "When I was a young man, we used to have some big tent revivals in my community. Each night an invitation was given for folks to come forward if they wanted to be, well as this country preacher would always say, 'borned again.'" The pastor went on to describe how some of the deacons would actually go out into the audience and go row-to-row, and shall we say they were "encouraging" folks to make that choice. Near the back, one of the deacons came to a young man who gave him an honest and memorable response. The deacon said, "Son, do you want to be borned again?" To which the boy said, "No." The deacon pressed the point, "Why don't you want to be borned again?" The young man answered in all seriousness, "Cause I'm afraid this time I'd come out as a girl!" I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "Lost In Our Language." Okay, first we can laugh at what that boy said. Then, when we're done laughing, let's think about what we can learn from a response like that. The preacher used words that the preacher understood, but apparently not everyone who was listening understood. It's a classic example of the problem with a language called "Christianese." It's the language we church folks speak without even thinking, and the language that folks who desperately need our message don't begin to understand. Many of our "Christianese" words are good Bible words, but words that a lot of lost people around us just don't know. For just a moment, try to "think lost." Think to think like a lost person. Think what a person without the context of a Christian environment hears when we say words like "accept" or "receive Christ as your personal Savior." We receive packages today, not people, and when we accept someone, we treat them right. When you try to hear what a lost person hears, words like "salvation" and "saved" and "become a Christian" are either not understood or they're vastly misunderstood. Oh, and "born again." In a world without absolutes, the word "sin" has become a word without meaning to many people, as much as the word "believe." Most people would probably say "yes" if you asked them if they believe in Jesus. And you'll know that they don't mean what the Bible means when it says, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ." Even the word "Savior" is not one that people use much today. They're great words, but the people who need Jesus the most have no idea what they mean or have the wrong idea. That's what makes our word for today from the Word of God such a mission critical prayer for any of us who know people that we want to take to heaven with us. In Colossians 4:3-4, listen to Paul, "Pray for us that God may open a door for our message...Pray that I may proclaim it clearly as I should." It's not enough to just transmit the Good News about Jesus. No, like good missionaries, we need to ask God to help us translate it into non-religious words that lost people can understand. If a man came running into the room you're in, shouting in say Swahili, "The room is on fire! Evacuate immediately!" you'd probably go, "Well, he sounds sincere; I think he has something important to say." But you'd have no idea what he was saying, because it wasn't in words you could understand. It's not in your language, and you might die as a result. And that's no matter how important the message and no matter how sincere the messenger. The spiritually dying people around us hear us Christians announcing our all-important life-or-death message, often in words they don't understand. Yes, the gospel's life-or-death information that literally eternities depend on. So, we can't afford for them to get lost in our language, or they might be lost forever.

In this Tuesday Headline Brief of The Wright Report, Bryan opens with confusion and high stakes in the war with Iran, as U.S. and Israeli forces strike Iranian boats planting mines in the Strait of Hormuz while President Trump's hopes for a quick peace deal appear to be slipping. He breaks down Iran's shifting demands over Strait "fees," enriched uranium, and negotiations slowed by the injured Ayatollah's reported isolation, while warning that Arab nations, Israel, and the White House are not fully aligned on what comes next. Bryan also covers a major Russian warning for Americans to leave Kiev ahead of possible large-scale strikes, and connects Moscow's effort to "break the spirit" of Ukrainians to broader concerns about political and spiritual warfare at home. Plus, Bryan highlights new U.S. defense production in Alabama as the country tries to replenish missile-defense stockpiles, digs into the Communist funding network tied to Neville Roy Singham, Hasan Piker, CodePink, and rising socialist candidates, and calls out flawed climate models after UN scientists admit their worst-case projection is now considered implausible.
