Genesis 1v27-28, Revelation 22v1-5 with Tyler Staton From Genesis to Revelation, the biblical story reveals that we are created in God's image to rule by working and keeping his world for the flourishing of others. Yet when work becomes a way to prove our worth or secure our identity apart from God, it turns into anxious toil instead of a blessing. This teaching invites us to rediscover our everyday work as participation in God's renewal, shifting from success to service and learning to labor at the pleasure of the true King. bridgetown.church/teaching

BACK in 2004. I took our kids back to Africa in 2004. Here's what happened. Due to a minor plane crash and having to make the trip overland, our kids went on into the Congo and I stayed behind with no plans for the week in the Central African Republic. THEN the invitations poured in! I happily taught many groups, pastors, deaconesses, school teachers, night watchmen and even high government officials! They were trilled at the positive news of Eden!NOW in 2026! We have two special events coming up! YOU are invited to our Event at the HQ of the American Bible Society on March 21 2026! We'll be presenting the Tru316 Medallion Award to ABS President Dr. Jennifer Holloran and our Keynote speaker will be Dr. Beverly Nyberg! Dr. Nyberg studied at the University of Nebraska and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. she has been Adjunct Professor at The George Washington University and Senior Consultant at Common Root Consulting. At the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) State Dept. she for 11 years she was responsible for the US Government global programs for children affect by HIV/AIDS. PEPFAR. She also had served with the Peace Corps in Africa and provided field leadership in DR Congo with The Evangelical Free Church Mission. The Tru316 Foundation (www.Tru316.com) is the home of The Eden Podcast with Bruce C. E. Fleming where we “true” the verse of Genesis 3:16. Full Text of Readings First Sunday of Lent Lectionary: 22 The Saint of the day is Chair of Saint Peter The Story of the Chair of Saint Peter This feast commemorates Christ's choosing Peter to sit in his place as the servant-authority of the whole Church. After the “lost weekend” of pain, doubt, and self-torment, Peter hears the Good News. Angels at the tomb say to Magdalene, “The Lord has risen! Go, tell his disciples and Peter.” John relates that when he and Peter ran to the tomb, the younger outraced the older, then waited for him. Peter entered, saw the wrappings on the ground, the headpiece rolled up in a place by itself. John saw and believed. But he adds a reminder: “…[T]hey did not yet understand the scripture that he had to rise from the dead” (John 20:9). They went home. There the slowly exploding, impossible idea became reality. Jesus appeared to them as they waited fearfully behind locked doors. “Peace be with you,” he said (John 20:21b), and they rejoiced. The Pentecost event completed Peter's experience of the risen Christ. “…[T]hey were all filled with the holy Spirit” (Acts 2:4a) and began to express themselves in foreign tongues and make bold proclamation as the Spirit prompted them. Only then can Peter fulfill the task Jesus had given him: “… [O]nce you have turned back, you must strengthen your brothers” (Luke 22:32). He at once becomes the spokesman for the Twelve about their experience of the Holy Spirit—before the civil authorities who wished to quash their preaching, before the Council of Jerusalem, for the community in the problem of Ananias and Sapphira. He is the first to preach the Good News to the Gentiles. The healing power of Jesus in him is well attested: the raising of Tabitha from the dead, the cure of the crippled beggar. People carry the sick into the streets so that when Peter passed his shadow might fall on them. Even a saint experiences difficulty in Christian living. When Peter stopped eating with Gentile converts because he did not want to wound the sensibilities of Jewish Christians, Paul says, “…I opposed him to his face because he clearly was wrong…. [T]hey were not on the right road in line with the truth of the gospel…” (Galatians 2:11b, 14a). At the end of John's Gospel, Jesus says to Peter, “Amen, amen, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to dress yourself and go where you wanted; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go” (John 21:18). What Jesus said indicated the sort of death by which Peter was to glorify God. On Vatican Hill, in Rome, during the reign of Nero, Peter did glorify his Lord with a martyr's death, probably in the company of many Christians. Second-century Christians built a small memorial over his burial spot. In the fourth century, the Emperor Constantine built a basilica, which was replaced in the 16th century. Reflection Like the committee chair, the chair refers to the occupant, not the furniture. Its first occupant stumbled a bit, denying Jesus three times and hesitating to welcome gentiles into the new Church. But, as we know, he turned toward the light. Some of its later occupants have also stumbled a bit, sometimes even failed scandalously. As individuals, we may sometimes think a particular pope has let us down. Still, the office endures as a sign of the long tradition we cherish and as a focus for the universal Church.Saint of the Day, Copyright Franciscan Media

Read OnlineJesus saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the customs post. He said to him, “Follow me.” And leaving everything behind, he got up and followed him. Then Levi gave a great banquet for him in his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were at table with them. Luke 5:27–29Levi's life changed in an instant. He encountered the Messiah, the Son of God, the Savior of the world, and in response to Jesus' simple yet profound invitation—“Follow me”—Levi left everything behind and followed Him. This radical decision offers an inspiring witness as we begin our Lenten journeys.Christ's call is often twofold. Even those baptized as infants must eventually hear and respond to that call for themselves. There comes a moment after the age of reason when those raised in the faith must choose whether to embrace the call to follow Jesus. For those who did not encounter Christ in their youth or who might have strayed from Him, the call is ever-present, continuously offered by God. Like Levi, once that invitation is heard and internalized, it demands a response—a radical choice to follow Him. And with that choice, life is never the same. When Levi accepted Jesus' invitation, his life underwent a complete transformation. He “left everything behind.” While his career as a tax collector was financially lucrative, it likely left him spiritually empty. Tax collectors were viewed with disdain by their fellow Jews because they worked for the Roman oppressors and often took more than what was owed for their own profit. This position, though offering wealth, created a life of moral compromise, guilt, and isolation. It was into this interior emptiness that Jesus entered. Levi, touched by an intuitive grace, recognized that abandoning everything and following Christ was the answer to his deepest longings.Have you heard Christ's call in your own life? Have you abandoned everything that stands in the way of fully following Him? This question is especially significant for those who were raised in the faith. While being baptized as a child and growing up in the Church is a great gift, it does not automatically mean that we have internalized the faith or personally responded to Jesus' invitation. Have you truly heard Jesus call you? Have you left behind everything that hinders your complete “Yes” to Him?Levi's transformation didn't stop with his “Yes.” He wanted to share his newfound joy and faith with others. Levi hosted a “great banquet” for Jesus in his home, inviting a large group of tax collectors and others to meet the One who had changed his life. His encounter with Christ was so profound and life-giving that he couldn't keep it to himself—he wanted others, especially those whom he knew were also spiritually empty, to encounter the same transformative love.If you have responded to Jesus' call and given your life to Him, your heart will naturally burn with a desire to share that joy with others. As you look at your family, friends, and acquaintances, do you see the same restlessness or emptiness that once filled your heart? How might God be calling you to invite them to encounter Christ? Perhaps, like Levi, you are called to “host a banquet” in your own way, sharing the Good News with those who need it the most.Reflect today on Levi's conversion and see your own life in his story. Recognize the restlessness within your heart and listen for Jesus' call. Identify Him as the answer to your deepest desires. Say “Yes” to His invitation, abandoning everything that competes with His will, and share the treasure of your faith with others. Embracing this twofold path is one of the best ways to ensure a truly fruitful Lent. My inviting Lord, You call to me each day, yet I often fail to listen. Help me to hear Your voice more clearly this Lent and to respond with all my heart. I choose to leave behind all that stands in the way of following You, and I pray that You will use me to invite others to Your heavenly banquet. Lent, historically, at least, is a bit of a heavy season, with an emphasis on penitence, and self-reflection, and those things that are "wrong" in our lives and the life of the world. This year, we're shifting our focus a bit, to the fundamentals of the Gospel...the Good things that are the Good News. And so we start today with Good News from two places in the text, which highlight how the Gospel can surprise us...the Wedding at Cana, and Jesus' Parable of the Mustard Seed. Join us to talk joy, potential, and the goodness of life.
Daily Dose of Hope February 19, 2026 Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4 Prayer: Holy God, Almighty Father, the Great I AM, Throughout all time, You are good. Your ways are perfect. Teach us your ways, Lord. Help us to know you better, to know you more. Lord, on our own, we are powerless. We are desperate for your wisdom, love, and mercy. More of you and less of me, Jesus. Amen. Welcome back to the Daily Dose of Hope, the devotional and podcast that goes along with the New Hope Bible reading plan. We have been on a journey through the letters of Paul, working through them chronologically. We started with Galatians, then we walked through I and 2 Thessalonians. We recently finished I Corinthians and now we are in 2 Corinthians. It's been a great journey thus far. Today's reading is 2 Corinthians 4. Paul wants the Corinthians to know that his ministry is not about letters of judgment. Yes, he is sending them a letter of rebuke but that is different from judgment. He disapproves of their actions, but he loves them. Paul wants them to know that his is a ministry of the Holy Spirit. And where the Spirit is, there is freedom that comes from knowing and being transformed by Jesus. The message of Jesus is an amazing treasure that we have been given, but we keep it in jars of clay, our frail, broken bodies. Jars of clay would have been a normal sight in Paul's day. They were basic, earthenware vessels, used for everything from cooking utensils to toilets. They were inexpensive but breakable and could easily be knocked over and damaged. And we, as Christ-followers, get to be the vessels that hold the Good News of Jesus. God chooses to store his greatest treasure in our own weak and flawed human bodies. They aren't too unlike the clay jars, common and fragile. Yet, God chooses us. In all our brokenness, God chooses us. In the mess of the world, God chooses us. In the midst of hardship and oppression, God still chooses us. We get to be the bearers of the greatest news in the history of all humanity. God chooses us. Just let that sink in a bit. Blessings, Pastor Vicki

Gabriela Nguyen helps people break their overreliance on cell phones and social media to venture offline and become self-empowered again. With over 40% of American social media users ages 18 - 22 feeling addicted and 50% of British teens reporting the same signs, she has her work cut out for her. And she's doing it all through her company, Appstinence, and their 5 D process: decrease, deactivate, deflect, downgrade, and depart. Gabriela isn't just texting the text (see what we did there?), she's walking the walk having been an enthusiastic social media user herself, she now has what she calls a 'dumb' phone (not a smart phone - get it?). “It's not a utopian fantasy of like, ‘Oh, if only I could run out into the woods and leave all my technology behind and get off social media and reinvent myself,' she says, "It's something that people are actually doing.” We talk about how her dad tossed the family TV when she was a child, what it feels like to connect with others on a human level and not through our phones, and what she is saying yes to in 2026 (remember, SAY YES is our motto for the year). Jeff Durbin -Romans 5:8- We've been in God's Book of Divine Wisdom for some time. It has been such a blessing and a transformative experience for so many of us. Today, my heart's desire is to focus our minds on the glory and beauty of the Good News of God. A love of God's Wisdom can only come from a heart that has been changed and a relationship of peace with God. That can only come in one way: the Gospel. May God never let our hearts stray from a passion for the Good News. The Good News that God loves sinners like us. The Good News that He has reconciled us to Himself. The Good News of Eternal Life. The Good News that we now have peace. Eternal peace with the God Who is Love. Sola Deo Gloria!
We press into a simple claim with big consequences: we are stewards, not owners. Through Luke 16, we draw a straight line from money habits to eternal impact and call our church to thoughtful, urgent, and joyful generosity aimed at people.• The mindset of stewardship over ownership• Luke 16's shrewd manager and eternal awareness• Faithfulness with little leading to true riches• Intentional generosity that builds relationships• Rejecting cynicism and resourcing real impact• Testimony: funding a girls' home in Israel• Planting harvest, not building portfolios• Allegiance to Christ rather than money• Practical rhythms for giving and formation
Daily Dose of Hope February 17, 2026 Scripture: 2 Corinthians 2 Prayer: Lord God Almighty, You have given us everything. Not only did you create the world, but you created us. Everything we have is a gift from you. Forgive us for when we begin to think that things are "ours." Soften our hearts. Help us become more generous. Lord, I give you my whole self. I want to offer myself as a living sacrifice; may I be pleasing in your sight. In Your Name, Amen. Welcome back to the Daily Dose of Hope, the devotional and podcast that complements the daily Bible reading at New Hope Church in Brandon, Florida. We are currently journeying through Paul's letters. We have just started our fifth pastoral letter, 2 Corinthians. Today, we are taking a look at chapter 2. In this chapter, Paul explains the reason he delayed his return to Corinth from Macedonia. His first visit had ended poorly. An influential man in Corinth had challenged Paul's apostolic authority. This man said Paul had no credibility from Jesus. So Paul left. He knew that if he returned as originally scheduled, it would create another difficult visit. Paul really wanted to protect the church but he also needed to deal with this conflict. He sent a letter instead. This also created discord in the church. Not only were they upset with the tone of the letter but they were upset that Timothy rather than Paul delivered it. But Paul stayed away until he saw how things placed out. Eventually, the church sided with Paul. They decide that the man who opposed Paul committed a grave sin. The church punished him, and he repented. Some scholars suggest the term used here might be better interpreted as saying the church "reprimanded" the man. Paul urges them to end the punishment, to forgive and comfort the man, and to reaffirm their love for him. Paul insists that forgiveness must happen in each direction in order to keep them from being tricked by Satan. Let's think about this – how might the enemy use unforgiveness to gain a foothold in our churches? Paul also wants to assure the church of his deep love for them and their dependence on one another. He isn't the kind of leader who lords authority over them. Rather, they belong to each other. He is their coworker in the movement of the Gospel. Are you aware that as the body of Jesus Christ, we all belong to God but we also belong to each other? Our work in the Lord is dependent on one another. We need one another. We are not independent contractors for Jesus out there on our own trying to share the Good News. Rather, we are all in this together, helping and supporting each other, praying for one another, and encouraging each other in our work. Blessings, Pastor Vicki

Other Wax Episodic shows: We cover these other intelligent, engaging, oftentimes delightfully twisted shows: Fallout (Amazon): A crazy retro-futuristic post-apocalyptic melange of wholesomeness and depravity. One of the best looking shows on TV, funny as hell, violent AF (but in a cartoony way), and with a great cast, including Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets) and Walton Goggins (The White Lotus, The Righteous Gemstones). Not to be missed! Hosted by Jason, Kara, and Kasi. Pluribus (Apple TV): Everyone is transformed into a pleasant hive mind — except for Carol (Rhea Seehorn), the most miserable woman on the planet, who must save the world from happiness. It's sounds weird, and it is… in the best way. Created by the great Vince Gilligan, of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Hosted by Jason and Karen! IT: Welcome to Derry (HBO): A fun, scary, and surprisingly great prequel to the 2016 and 2019 IT movies, Pennywise stalks the children of 1962 Derry. A mix of heart, mystery, charm, and some shockingly disturbing Nightmare on Elme Street-esque horror. Cohosted by Shawn of Strange Indeed. Alien: Earth (FX): From the brilliant Noah Hawley (Fargo, Legion), this one really scratches that sci-fi itch. A greedy corporate tech overlord transfers the consciousness of a group of terminally ill children into highly performant synth bodies. And the Xenomorph is in it, too. Also, Tim Olyphant!
