Gospel Daily with Josh Weidmann Christ Uses Our Healing or Waiting to Call Us to Greater Faith in Him, Part 2Series: Seeing the Light Scripture: John 9:1-7 Episode: 494 Scripture Summary: In John 9:1–7, Jesus encounters a man born blind, and His disciples ask whether the man's blindness was caused by his own sin or his parents' sin. Jesus replies that it was not due to sin, but so that the works of God might be displayed in him. He then declares, "I am the light of the world," and proceeds to heal the man in a unique way—by spitting on the ground, making mud, and applying it to the man's eyes. Jesus tells him to wash in the Pool of Siloam, and the man obeys—receiving his sight for the first time. Key themes include: God's purpose in suffering, Jesus as the light of the world, healing through faith and obedience, and the display of God's power in unexpected ways.

Faith is believing without evidence. Hope is our expectations as to what God can and will do. Faith will activate the power given to us by our Lord. Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Rom 10:17 "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

Jeff Hendrix on Hebrews 11: We continue our series called "Greater: A Journey Through Hebrews" with a walk through history. The author recalls all the great stories of Faith lived out by God's people. Today we are challenged to be living lives that show this unshakable confidence in the fact that God keeps his promises.

A Greater Faith
The Cross of Jesus is so much more than a symbol, sign, or motion. The Cross is the foundation of all honest Christian thinking. The Cross and how you think about it means everything. The Cross and how you live because of it means even more.
Believe in Communion MORE Than your Isolation. There is value in short seasons of isolation, but to live that way continually is not healthy. God created us to live in communion with Him and with others.
Why do we often believe in our anxiety more than Jesus' peace? Greater Faith means I believe Jesus' words, the Father's heart, and the Spirit's power more than the things I can see. We live by believing, not by seeing.
“Deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow me.” This is the way of a Greater Faith. Any message that allows us to keep control and guidance of our own lives, is not the message of Jesus. And, Greater Faith is in Jesus, not in self.
What do you believe? What beliefs guide, limit, or empower your life? Do your beliefs give you joy and peace? Do they empower you to love difficult people? Would you like to live a Greater Faith!
