Skepticism Over China's Renewed Promise to Buy US Farm Products — John Batchelor, Gordon Chang, Alan Tonelson — Chang and Tonelson express skepticism regarding China's latest promises to expand American agricultural purchases, particularly soybeans, reiterating unfulfilled commitments from the 2020 Phase One trade agreement. Tonelson cites China's well-documented history of violating trade commitments and bilateral agreements. Batchelorraises concern that agricultural sector lobbying is disproportionately influencing American trade policy, potentially obscuring critical deficiencies in US manufacturing competitiveness and structural national security vulnerabilities. 1959

Tighten up your accounts receivable, and don't play games with cash. An invoice is only a promise to get paid. Promises are broken all the time. You're not done until you've collected payment. Getting paid isn't greed. It's stewardship. It's professionalism. And it's customer service.

As we begin our Advent series, we look at Isaiah 9 and Micah 5 where the prophets show us what God does in the darkest moments: He gives a promise. A Son. A King. A Light the darkness cannot overcome. We are invited to trust God's promises, turn toward his light, and hold onto real hope this season. Darkness doesn't get the last word—Jesus does.
What are the odds that one person could fulfill hundreds of ancient prophecies? Mathematically speaking, it's impossible, yet that's exactly what happened when Jesus arrived in Bethlehem. Ezekiel's prophecy reveals a stunning promise: God himself would become the shepherd of his people. For 580 years, Israel waited in silence, suffering under foreign rule, longing for the good shepherd who would finally care for them. The beauty of this Christmas story isn't just about a baby in a manger—it's about God keeping an impossible promise. When angels appeared to lowly shepherds (not religious elites or political leaders), they announced that both promises were being fulfilled simultaneously: God had come, and the descendant of David had arrived. Jesus later declared boldly, 'I am the good shepherd,' claiming to be the fulfillment everyone had been waiting for. What makes this relevant to us today? We still wander like sheep. We still experience pain from failed leaders and broken relationships. We still need a shepherd who searches for us, heals our wounds, and lays down his life for us. The cross proves that this shepherd is willing to sacrifice everything, and the resurrection confirms that God's 'yes' is complete in Christ. As we enter this Christmas season, we're reminded that the same faithful shepherd who fulfilled ancient prophecies is still seeking us, still healing us, and still keeping his promises today.
This message unpacks how God's promises—like provision, rest, clarity, and freedom—often come with conditions that invite our obedience and perseverance. Through the story of Jericho, we discover three keys to possessing God's promises: pushing through resistance, claiming only what He has promised, and following His instructions. It challenges us to pursue the abundant life Jesus offers by aligning with His ways, not our own. Are you ready to step forward and claim the promises God has already prepared for you?
God's Promises | The Christmas Spirit | Zach Chronley by Akouo Church
Pastor Brent Thomas in Luke 1:5-25 shares that God is absolutely faithful to fulfill His promises no matter how long it's been, how unlikely the circumstances, or how much we've struggled with doubt. In the story of Zechariah, the angel announces clear, specific promises about John that reveal God's gracious plan to bring joy, salvation, and fulfillment of His Word. Our response can either posture us to rejoice in those promises or to stumble through them, but it never changes God's commitment to do what He has said.

Joshua thought he was preparing for battle—but Jesus showed up to show him who was really in command. In Joshua 5–6, the eternal Son of God appears as the Commander of the Lord's Armies, reminding Joshua that the real question isn't “Is God on my side?” but “Am I on His?” This passage reveals a Jesus who fights for His people, leads His people, and keeps every promise by His power—not ours.

Big Idea: You share the promises of Abraham through faith in his Son.Galatians 3:14-16The purpose was that the blessing of Abraham would come to the Gentiles by Christ Jesus, so that we could receive the promised Spirit through faith. Brothers and sisters, I'm using a human illustration. No one sets aside or makes additions to a validated human will. Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say “and to seeds,” as though referring to many, but referring to one, and to your seed, who is Christ.I. The blessings of Abraham are yours through faith.Galatians 3:14II. The family treasure is yours through adoption. Galatians 3:15III. Covenant promises are yours through Christ. 2025-11-30 As we enter Advent we are starting a new series: Promises Kept. From Christmas music to ancient songs, we'll explore how Psalm 98 invites us to remember God's faithfulness, sing a new song, and rediscover joy. Just as Israel sang of God's past victory and Mary echoed those promises at Jesus' birth, we too are invited to remember God's promises kept. Together we'll discover how the birth of Jesus fulfills the hopes sung by generations before us.
Fr. Mike highlights the importance of prayer and fasting, instructing us how to fast and empty ourselves to feel our spiritual need for Christ. He also discusses faithfulness in vocations and living out the life God has called you to. Today's readings are from Acts 13, 1 Corinthians 7-8, and Proverbs 28:4-6. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear. Please note: The Bible contains adult themes that may not be suitable for children - parental discretion is advised.
Jeremiah 32 (Listen) Jeremiah Buys a Field During the Siege 32:1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar. 2 At that time the army of the king of Babylon was besieging Jerusalem, and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the guard that was in the palace of the king of Judah. 3 For Zedekiah king of Judah had imprisoned him, saying, “Why do you prophesy and say, ‘Thus says the LORD: Behold, I am giving this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall capture it; 4 Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him face to face and see him eye to eye. 5 And he shall take Zedekiah to Babylon, and there he shall remain until I visit him, declares the LORD. Though you fight against the Chaldeans, you shall not succeed'?” 6 Jeremiah said, “The word of the LORD came to me: 7 Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum your uncle will come to you and say, ‘Buy my field that is at Anathoth, for the right of redemption by purchase is yours.' 8 Then Hanamel my cousin came to me in the court of the guard, in accordance with the word of the LORD, and said to me, ‘Buy my field that is at Anathoth in the land of Benjamin, for the right of possession and redemption is yours; buy it for yourself.' Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD. 9 “And I bought the field at Anathoth from Hanamel my cousin, and weighed out the money to him, seventeen shekels of silver. 10 I signed the deed, sealed it, got witnesses, and weighed the money on scales. 11 Then I took the sealed deed of purchase, containing the terms and conditions and the open copy. 12 And I gave the deed of purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah son of Mahseiah, in the presence of Hanamel my cousin, in the presence of the witnesses who signed the deed of purchase, and in the presence of all the Judeans who were sitting in the court of the guard. 13 I charged Baruch in their presence, saying, 14 ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Take these deeds, both this sealed deed of purchase and this open deed, and put them in an earthenware vessel, that they may last for a long time. 15 For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Houses and fields and vineyards shall again be bought in this land.' Jeremiah Prays for Understanding 16 “After I had given the deed of purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed to the LORD, saying: 17 ‘Ah, Lord GOD! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you. 18 You show steadfast love to thousands, but you repay the guilt of fathers to their children after them, O great and mighty God, whose name is the LORD of hosts, 19 great in counsel and mighty in deed, whose eyes are open to all the ways of the children of man, rewarding each one according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds. 20 You have shown signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, and to this day in Israel and among all mankind, and have made a name for yourself, as at this day. 21 You brought your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs and wonders, with a strong hand and outstretched arm, and with great terror. 22 And you gave them this land, which you swore to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey. 23 And they entered and took possession of it. But they did not obey your voice or walk in your law. They did nothing of all you commanded them to do. Therefore you have made all this disaster come upon them. 24 Behold, the siege mounds have come up to the city to take it, and because of sword and famine and pestilence the city is given into the hands of the Chaldeans who are fighting against it. What you spoke has come to pass, and behold, you see it. 25 Yet you, O Lord GOD, have said to me, “Buy the field for money and get witnesses”—though the city is given into the hands of the Chaldeans.'” 26 The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah: 27 “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for me? 28 Therefore, thus says the LORD: Behold, I am giving this city into the hands of the Chaldeans and into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he shall capture it. 29 The Chaldeans who are fighting against this city shall come and set this city on fire and burn it, with the houses on whose roofs offerings have been made to Baal and drink offerings have been poured out to other gods, to provoke me to anger. 30 For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have done nothing but evil in my sight from their youth. The children of Israel have done nothing but provoke me to anger by the work of their hands, declares the LORD. 31 This city has aroused my anger and wrath, from the day it was built to this day, so that I will remove it from my sight 32 because of all the evil of the children of Israel and the children of Judah that they did to provoke me to anger—their kings and their officials, their priests and their prophets, the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 33 They have turned to me their back and not their face. And though I have taught them persistently, they have not listened to receive instruction. 34 They set up their abominations in the house that is called by my name, to defile it. 35 They built the high places of Baal in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to offer up their sons and daughters to Molech, though I did not command them, nor did it enter into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin. They Shall Be My People; I Will Be Their God 36 “Now therefore thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city of which you say, ‘It is given into the h...

In Genesis 15, God meets Abram in a vision of the night—reassuring him with promises of countless descendants, a covenant sealed in sacrifice, and the assurance of God's presence even through suffering. As we trace Abraham's journey of faith, we're reminded that God still invites us to trust His word, cling to His promises, and follow Him even when the vultures circle and the path grows difficult. If God is stirring something in you—or even awakening dreams—pay attention. Write it down. And step into a deeper, covenant relationship with the God who is faithful, purposeful, and always present. Our Advent series, Meeting the Messiah, begins in Chapter 1 of Matthew's Gospel. Our preacher, John Perry.
Most of us don’t enjoy waiting. Waiting feels inefficient, unproductive, and frustrating — especially in a world wired for instant results, fast answers, and constant movement. But Scripture teaches that waiting is not a glitch in the Christian life; it is the Christian life. Followers of Jesus are people who wait: for His return, His redemption, His renewal, and His promises fulfilled. Yet biblical waiting is not passive. It is not idle or stagnant. Waiting is an active posture of trust — a discipline where we slow down enough to notice God’s presence, His movement, and His voice. When we stop racing long enough to be still, we discover that God is already at work both around us and within us. Waiting becomes the space where faith deepens, hope strengthens, and Christ reshapes our hearts. Paul reminds us in Philippians that we are citizens of heaven who eagerly await Jesus. Our waiting is not in vain; it is anchored in a promise. Christ will return. He will transform us. He will bring all things under His loving reign. This truth gives meaning to the spaces of delay we experience today. As we enter the season of Advent, we are invited once again to practice this active, attentive waiting. Waiting for Jesus’ birth reminds us to also wait for His return. And in the meantime, we open our lives to His transforming presence, trusting that He is near and at work right now. If you find yourself in a season of waiting — for direction, healing, provision, reconciliation, or hope — know this: waiting does not mean God has forgotten you. Waiting is where His promises become more real, His presence becomes more precious, and your soul finds rest. Bible Reading:“But our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ; who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.” — Philippians 3:20–21 Takeaway Truths Waiting is a central part of the Christian life, not an interruption. Biblical waiting is active — attentive to God’s presence and purposes. Christ is already working in the unseen places of your life. Waiting gives space for transformation, hope, and deeper trust. Jesus’ return is assured, and His promises offer peace to our waiting hearts. Let’s Pray Precious Jesus, I pause all my striving and still my racing thoughts. Help me rest in Your presence in this season of waiting. Open my eyes to see where You are working in and around me. Allow me to notice the quiet traces of Your goodness and hear Your invitation to participate in Your work. Thank You for Your promises of hope, forgiveness, and new life. As I wait for Your return and for Your purposes to unfold in my life, strengthen my trust. Shape my heart so that my life becomes a testimony of Your transforming grace. Waiting is not wasted when it draws me closer to You. Help me lean into Your promises and rest in Your faithful love. In Your holy name, Amen. Effective altruism is a philosophical and social movement that uses empirical data to maximize the impact of charitable efforts. Those who champion EA praise its methodological framework for maximizing the effectiveness of donations, thus ensuring equal consideration for all individuals. Those who challenge EA argue that its emphasis on measurable outcomes may overlook important yet hard-to-quantify causes, potentially restricting the scope of what's considered beneficial. Your Hope-Filled Perspective with Dr. Michelle Bengtson podcast
Episode Summary: While Norman Rockwall paints pictures of the holiday season as times of cheerful family togetherness, many feel unseen, especially during the holidays. Maybe you’re walking through this season feeling like no one really sees you. Maybe you’re single and longing for companionship, grieving the loss of a loved one, or feeling disconnected even in a crowd. The holidays can be a stark reminder of what we feel is missing in our lives. We see others celebrating with their families, opening presents, and engaging in joyful traditions, while we may feel forgotten or left behind. But even when the world seems to overlook you, God never does. Join me as we into a topic that touches so many hearts, especially during the holiday season: Finding Hope and Purpose When You Feel Invisible. Quotables from the episode: Loneliness isn’t just about being physically alone. It’s about feeling unseen, unheard, or unimportant. And during the holidays, this feeling can be magnified. We see families gathering, couples exchanging gifts, and social media flooded with highlight reels of happy moments—but what if you feel left out of that joy? There are many reasons why people feel overlooked during the holidays. Some have lost loved ones and feel their absence more acutely this time of year. Others may be estranged from family or struggling with difficult relationships. Some are facing financial hardship, making it hard to participate in the celebrations around them. Still, others feel overlooked in the workplace, in friendships, or even in ministry, wondering if what they do truly matters. Friend, just like He saw Hagar, He sees you too. No situation is too small or too big to escape His loving gaze. Maybe you feel invisible in your workplace, like your efforts go unnoticed. Maybe you feel unseen in your own family, where your needs seem to take a backseat to everyone else’s. Or maybe you’ve been crying out to God for an answer, and it feels like the heavens are silent. I want to assure you that God is not distant. He is near, and He sees every part of your heart. The enemy wants us to believe we are forgotten, but that’s a lie. The truth? God has always had His eye on you. God sees every detail of your life. He sees your silent tears and hears the prayers you can’t even put into words. He knows the longing in your heart and the dreams you’ve tucked away. You are not invisible to Him. I have to wonder if perhaps Jesus felt the same way when He asked His closest disciples to stay awake with Him in the garden, and yet they slept. Yet in that place He poured out His heart to His Heavenly Father. Throughout Scripture, we see God’s attentive love. Jesus noticed the outcasts—the woman at the well, the lepers, the woman with the issue of blood, the blind man begging on the roadside. He saw the ones society ignored, and He still does today. When you feel unseen, remember this: Jesus stops for the one. He stops for you. Even Jesus experienced feeling forsaken when He cried out on the cross, “My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?”(Matthew 27:46). But God had not abandoned Him, just as He will never abandon you. Even in our darkest moments, God is working behind the scenes. He is near, even when we don’t feel it. Anchor Yourself in God’s Word – Fill your mind with Scriptures that remind you of God’s deep love for you. Shift Your Focus – When we focus on what we lack, we feel emptier. But when we focus on God’s presence and His promises, our hearts find peace. Start by playing uplifting praise and worship music, then consider starting a gratitude journal, writing down ways God has shown up in your life, comforted you, or helped you feel seen. Reach Out – Sometimes, we isolate ourselves when we feel unseen. I encourage you to take a step—send a text, call a friend, or join a community where you can encourage others too. Spend Time in His Presence – God is enough. Sit with Him. Talk to Him. Let Him fill the spaces where you feel unseen. One of the beautiful ways we can reflect God’s love is by helping others feel seen. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 reminds us that God comforts us so we can comfort others. When we encourage others, God blesses us as well. Notice the unnoticed – Look for those who may feel left out and extend kindness to them. Speak life – A simple encouragement can make someone’s day. Be present – Sometimes, the greatest gift is simply being there for someone. God sees us, and He invites us to see others the way He does. My friend, if you feel invisible today, remember this: You are fully known and fully loved by the God who created the universe. God is the God who sees you, and He loves you deeply. Hold onto hope. Scripture References: Genesis 16:13 Hagar called God, El Roi, “The God Who Sees Me.” Psalm 139:1-3 “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. The Sufficiency of Christ Considered: Promises Made, Promises Kept - Expository Devotional on Hebrews 11:39-40All Urban Puritano explorations in expository preaching have been preached in a Spanish congregation and have been translated by yours truly to exemplify a hybrid Puritan approach to preaching for today. There is a simple style that presents the fruits of textual analysis and translates it into homiletical synthesis for the glory of God and the good of the congregation. There is an Intro/Exordium that introduces the theme of the sermon broadly and narrowing it to the text on which the theme is based. The second portion of the sermon is the theme of the text being exposited. This theme or topic is its doctrinal substance and what is predicated about the subjecht matter. Next, there are reasons and arguments proving the doctrinal substance is rightly divided. Once the truth has been explained, the uses of the doctrinal theme must be spelled out. Just as there is no compunction in judiciously formulating the sermon's doctrinal theme in a homiletically appropriate way, neither is there any compunction in pastorally and judiciously deriving warranted implications from the text to apply to the hearers' hearts and lives. Lastly the conclusion/epilogue serves to summarize the exposition and call hearers to worship God in Christ through the Spirit. For more on Puritan Preaching, take up and listen: https://share.transistor.fm/s/ace50a4bFor more of Christocentric Preaching, take up and listen: https://share.transistor.fm/s/a8809149For more on Redemptive Historical Preaching, take up and listen: https://share.transistor.fm/s/82422c88For seeing all of Christ in all of Scripture for all of life, take up and read my book: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DL8HGMGQ?ref_=cm_sw_r_ffobk_cp_ud_dp_QH3Q4HU3ACDOSIO6ULF6&bestFormat=trueFor helpful resources, please visit my hub: https://urbanpuritano.com/Who is sufficient unto these things?
WarRoom Battleground EP 898: Promises Made Promises Kept With Reducing Housing Cost; Free Tina Peters
The coaching carousel keeps on spinning, but Florida State is not joining the party in 2025. FSU announced on Sunday that Mike Norvell will remain the head coach of the Seminoles in 2026. This announcement comes at the end of a disappointing season that began with a lot of promise. Promises have been made to enhance the roster next season. Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey discuss why Florida State decided to make this move and if they think it was the right decision. Then, they look to Michigan State where a decision looms. Will the Spartans keep Jonathan Smith or will the current eight-game losing streak be the final straw of a disappointing tenure in East Lansing? Coaching carousel drama would not be complete without another Lane Kiffin update. The guys discuss Kiffin's recent silence on the topic of his coaching decision. They also discuss what will happen to the team that misses out on Kiffin and why this year's selection of candidates is unique to those of the past. Then, the guys talk about events happening on the field. There are a lot of games this week with massive CFP implications as we close out the regular season. A notable one, and one that Andy thinks may be ready for an upset, is #10 Alabama visiting Auburn. The guys discuss if this game will actually be close and Andy makes his case as to why he thinks this is a potential upset to keep an eye on. Then they chat about the game that will have everyone watching because of Lane Kiffin. #6 Ole Miss visits Mississippi State on Friday for the Egg Bowl. A massive rivalry, propped up by coaching drama, one team trying to reach bowl eligibility and the other team fighting for a spot in the College Football Playoff. Ross and Godfrey dive into the history of this rivalry and what they think may come of it this year. Finally they chat about arguably the biggest rivalry in college football. #1 Ohio State takes on #18 Michigan in The Big House. Michigan is riding a four-game winning streak in this rivalry. The crew talks about how this game could be another chance for Michigan to pull the massive upset, or it could be Ohio State's opportunity to exorcise its demons and snap the losing streak. Plus, Ross gives an update on the CFP extending conversations about the future of the CFP format.Later, it's time for I've Got A Feeling. Nebraska, Tennessee and Tec de Monterrey are who the guys have a good feeling about this week. Plus, Ross shares some Louisiana Thanksgiving recipes.Great ready for Rivalry Week with College Football Enquirer.(1:00) - Florida State keeps Mike Norvell(14:05) - Will Michigan State fire Jonathan Smith?(16:40) - Lane Kiffin update(28:21) - Rivalry Week games(29:57) - #10 Alabama visiting Auburn in the Iron Bowl(33:35) - #6 Ole Miss visits Mississippi State on Friday for the Egg Bowl(42:21) - #1 Ohio State takes on #18 Michigan in The Big House(51:11) - CFP format deadline gets extended(55:53) - I've Got A Feeling Subscribe to the College Football Enquirer on your favorite podcast app:

God made an everlasting covenant with Abraham. He blessed him and gave him the promise of land and seed, which would go on to become a great nation. Abraham passes on his possessions and all of these promises as an inheritance to his son Isaac, and Isaac to his son Jacob/Israel. But after Jacob/Israel dies, people get confused about how this inheritance, which includes the promises of seed, land, and kings, is passed on. A careful study of the biblical record can clear up a lot of confusion, specifically regarding the land of Israel, and who should lay claim to it.
