Flocktales

It's migration season, everyone, which means BABY BIRDS aren't far behind! This episode, we explore some of the most fabulous and maybe not so fabulous nests. From the elaborate to the confusing, birds have all sorts of ways to raise their young, and we're so excited to share them with you! Some housekeeping notes as well, Flocktales will be switching to an every-other week release for the foreseeable future. We'll see you in a couple of weeks!

That's right, in honor of Flocktales feeling 22, we're dedicating a whole episode to the Swifts (mostly the birds, but also the artist). From the drab to the dapper, this week we cover four amazing Swift species we're so excited to share with you!

This week we chat with two of our friends, Sagara and Debra, about all the drunk birds (some mammals included) that get drunk and what happens to them when they do. These scientists and leaders are taking names and seriously challenging how science approaches people in the outdoors and changing what the face of research and outreach looks like.

Our last installment of Boobies covers perhaps the wildest species yet! No offense to the Masked Booby but we're gonna talk a whole lot about Abbott's Boobies (the bird). The root of all boobies! It's boobies all the way down! But maybe not all the way down because as awesome as all these species are, they all face some significant conservation issues. Join us as we wrap up the Boobycast!

We've got another fantastic pair of Booby species for you today! And as if we needed another excuse to be distracted, today we also try out a drinking game that pairs nicely with the Brown Booby and the Red-footed Booby. We continue on our fantastic adventure of the worlds Booby species! This week we're traveling to coastal Peru to check out the Peruvian and Nazca Boobies. Between the Humboldt Current, guano, and the Galapagos islands, there is so much to explore with these amazing and goofy birds!

Welcome back to our birdy tropical paradise! This week we continue to kick back on the sandy beaches of leisure with some amazing bird species (free from cats and deer). We start out on the gorgeous archipelago of Hawai'i with the amazing Palila and some alien-spotting telescopes, from there we venture to Johnston Atoll with some insane arthropods and conservation puppers! Please keep your hands and arms inside at all times, and be careful of the hilarious pit stops on the way!

We're on vacation! Check out the sick waves and come birding with us on the remote and beautiful archipelago of Hawai'i. This week we explore some endemic birds of the islands and the conservation issues they face, so it might be less like a vacation and more like we get waaaaaay too drunk and take every detour possible. Also somehow there's deer and capes? Either way, we talk about some amazing birds and some not so amazing things they have to put up with.
