Green Bay is bringing a monster of a defense to Cleveland on Sunday, a group that spent the first two weeks of the season harassing quarterbacks and shutting down offenses. Will the Browns and veteran quarterback Joe Flacco be able to figure this defense out or will they once again struggle like they did against the Ravens in Week 2? Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe start the Wednesday edition of the Orange and Brown Talk podcast by discussing how the Browns can try to figure this defense out. Then they talk about the decision to rotate Dawand Jones at left tackle to try to alleviate concerns about the heat. Lastly, they talk about the potential return of Mike Hall Jr.? Could he be back this week? What does he bring to the defensive line? Hey — quick (but late) roundup like I'm talking to you on the porch: huge college football upsets, that insane Bills‑Ravens fourth‑quarter comeback, and the Chiefs getting knocked off in São Paulo. Add in fantasy chat, EuroBasket surprises, and the Kawhi/Clipper drama that keeps bubbling up. On the pop culture/tech side: iPhone 17 buzz, a Spike/Denzel movie that's worth your time, and a VMAs show that felt like a 2000s throwback. Oh, and the usual weather/hurricane paranoia and homecoming chaos — you know, life stuff. Catch the whole episode for the takes and the laughs.
The Chargers wrapped up Week 2 with a 20-9 win over the Raiders in Las Vegas. LAC looked very balanced on offense and their defense made it tough for Geno Smith all night. How scary are the Chargers and how well do the Broncos match up against them? Plus, Tom Brady was shown in the Raiders booth wearing a headset on Monday Night Football. Brady is also a broadcaster for FOX, so is this a conflict of interest? Baker Mayfield led the Bucs on a game-winning drive last night. Is Mayfield in the elite tier of QB's? Eric and Bruce also dive into the Shedeur Sanders report, in which he told the Ravens not to draft him in the 5th Round because he didn't want to be a backup to Lamar Jackson. Ken Carman and Anthony Lima discuss the report alleging Shedeur Sanders of declining being drafted by the Baltimore Ravens, and why Ken believes such a report could mean Sanders is a "genius".
The podcast is back to recap Week 2 in Ravens action as Baltimore welcomed the Cleveland Browns for their home opening effort. It looked a bit dicey at first as the Ravens couldn't get much going offensively, but the defense held strong throughout, and allowed for a late breakthrough by Lamar Jackson. Four touchdown passes (and 2 turnovers by Cleveland's offense) later, and the Ravens leave Week 2 feeling a bit better about things after their heartbreaking start to the season. The guys go through all that and more on tonight's show, plus a quick look ahead to next week. Thanks as always for tuning in, and we'll be back at you very soon! Munaf Manji and Mackenzie Rivers talk NFL betting for Week 2. The guys also discuss two MNF games. SOVAM Weekend Rewind and MNF PreviewOpening (0:15 – 1:02) Munaf Manji welcomed listeners to the Week 2 recap and double-MNF preview, joined by Mackenzie Rivers. He promised instant reactions, contest updates, and best bets. Munaf contrasted Week 1's fireworks with Week 2's defense-heavy slate: “It took about 57 minutes for us to see the first touchdown of the game from Mr. 1, Tyler Algier.” The Falcons beat the Vikings 22–6. Team stats: Falcons 326 yards vs Vikings 198; time of possession 36:32 to 23:28; turnovers 4–1 against Minnesota. Despite five red-zone trips, Atlanta settled mostly for field goals. Bijan Robinson shined, but rookie QB J.J. McCarthy faltered with sacks and giveaways. Mackenzie noted his new fatherhood could explain the struggles, but warned: “You do have to prove positively that you are an improvement over Sam Darnold.” In SERCA Survivor, most entries leaned on the Cardinals (5,169) and Ravens (4,420). Steelers and Vikings picks led to hundreds of eliminations. In Circa Millions, top sides (Cowboys, Jets, Broncos) all failed, with only the Eagles cashing. Mackenzie marveled at long field goals: “People kick 64-yarders in overtime… wow.” Mackenzie's top risers: Packers – line moved from -7 to -9, driven by defense and Micah Parsons. Bills – from -10.5 to -13 after dominating the Jets. Colts – Daniel Jones looked sharp, Taylor balanced the attack. Munaf agreed, adding the Lions, who dropped 52 on the Bears, proving Ben Johnson's departure didn't stall the offense. Mackenzie listed three fallers: Jets – QB Justin Fields left concussed; 3-of-11 for 25 yards. Bears – crushed despite Caleb Williams' 207 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT. Dolphins – porous defense, Tua's late INT sealed loss to Patriots. Munaf added Bengals, with Joe Burrow sidelined by a toe injury. Mackenzie said: “A 4.5-point move from Joe Burrow to Jake Browning… probably the end of the Zach Taylor era if it's three months.” Munaf admitted a blunder starting Justin Fields, who netted 3.8 points, but his roster (Taylor, Neighbors, Adams) carried him. Mackenzie joked his own fantasy team was “trash.” Texans -2.5, total 42.5. Injuries: Bucs missing Wirfs and Godwin, Texans without Mixon. Munaf stressed the Texans are 8-3 to the under as home favorites under DeMeco Ryans. Both leaned Tampa and under 42.5. Raiders +3.5, total 46.5. Mackenzie liked the Chargers' road edge and prep advantage. Munaf emphasized Justin Herbert's dominance in Vegas, topping 314 passing yards in all four appearances. His best bet: Herbert over 253.5 yards. Both suggested Chargers could cover alternate spreads like -13.5. Mackenzie: Clippers -8 vs Jazz in their NBA opener, expecting focus after off-court drama. Munaf: Justin Herbert over 253.5 yards vs Raiders. The hosts closed by thanking listeners, promoting Pregame.com's Touchdown25 code, and inviting feedback, including prop bet requests. Beau and Ries were there Saturday so they'll let you know what they thought of the atmosphere. It was a costly Sunday for the Bengals. They get the win but lose Burrow for 3 months in the process. In hour 2 of The Drive, Zach and Phil take a deep dive into the Broncos and Colts game yesterday. Although Bo Nix played better than a week ago, what criticism did the guys have for Nix? How much blame does Wil Lutz deserve with his missed field goal late in the game? Today's "Three Count" features the Broncos getting a "green light" in Joe Burrow going down with a toe injury that should have him miss the Bengals and Broncos game, the Chiefs starting 0-2 and in sole possession of the last place in the AFC west, and Arch Manning struggling vs UTEP over the weekend and getting booed by his home crowd. We react to the report that Shedeur Sanders turned down an opportunity to be drafted by the Ravens because he didn't want to sit behind Lamar Jackson. Was Shedeur being short sided when preferring the Browns over the Ravens because it gave him a "better chance to start"?
In hour 4 of The Drive, Zach and Phil breakdown the Broncos surprising loss yesterday. Did the Broncos "blow" the game or did the Colts earn their win? How were the Colts able to pick on the reigning defensive player of the year in Patrick Surtain? Zach and Phil explain how it was not only Surtain that struggled but the whole defense. Should the Broncos look into cutting Lutz? What was the biggest reason for the Broncos loss? We react to the report that Shedeur Sanders turned down an opportunity to be drafted by the Ravens because he didn't want to sit behind Lamar Jackson. Was Shedeur being short sided when preferring the Browns over the Ravens because it gave him a "better chance to start"? We wrap up the show with our final thoughts on the Broncos week 2 loss in Indianapolis. Phil describes what this week in the Broncos facility will feel like for the players.
