What is spiritual growth and how do we talk about it without bringing people back under a law mindset? In this podcast Rich and Pip show how spiritual growth is not the same as sanctification but is actually the process of growing in maturity. They go on to explore how Holy Spirit grows us and to show how the process of spiritual maturity does not necessarily mean getting more serious or boring!

When it comes to missions (or any ministry activity for that matter) there’s doing things the common sense way and doing things Holy Spirit’s way! In this hilarious podcast Rolland Baker shares from his own experience about how Holy Spirit’s approach to planning is very different to ours. Rolland shows from his own story that while planning is not necessarily a bad thing, adventures choreographed by The Spirit frequently fly in the face of textbook advice on church growth and missions. He shows that while believers love their well thought out plans, often Holy Spirit calls us to step out in faith and simply trust that He has a plan! The Gospel is good news for tired people. However, believers have a tendency to turn the good news into bad news by adding in lists of things to do and by motivating folks to try harder. Here Rich & Pip share their story of how, over the last 20 years, their physical capacity has been progressively consumed by the circumstances of life, forcing them to give up on a mindset of serving, striving & sacrifice & freeing them instead to simply enjoy God and let him take care of the results! In the words of The Clash (and Romans 7) "I fought the law but the law won" ... but then Jesus fulfilled the law on my behalf and I got all the benefits (whoop!) Romans 7 paints a pretty miserable picture of how coming under law spoils our buzz. In this episode, Rich and Pip, look at ways in which believers can unwittingly start mixing in a bit of law with their grace and how that makes people unfruitful, unhappy ... and naughty! But don't worry we end on a high thinking about how the undiluted gospel of grace gives us wings to fly free and enjoy manifesting our new identity.

You were wired for pleasure and God has no intention of changing that! Rich and Pip start this episode describing how believers have turned pleasure into a dirty word when in reality pleasure is at the core of the gospel because, in Christ, we have been lifted up into the flow of pleasure between the persons of the Trinity. Rich and Pip go on to show (with the help of William Barclay and CS Lewis) how over time Holy Spirit educates our "taste buds" to enjoy God's finest and how this is no excuse for dualism since the whole of creation echoes with the Divine.
