Today I sit down with Adam Vibe Gunton - bestselling author, founder of the nonprofit Recovered on Purpose, and owner of a 68-bed treatment center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Adam went from being given cocaine at age 12 and starring as the defensive captain of Columbine High School's state championship football team, to a homeless heroin addict who overdosed in 2015 - and has the police body cam footage to prove it. He's the only person I know of who showed their own dead body during a TED Talk. In this episode, you'll learn: Why a decade of 12-step meetings still left Adam unable to stay sober, and what the critical missing piece was The "wrong" sponsor who turned out to be exactly right - and why everything you've been told about finding a sponsor might be backwards The spiritual experience at an IHOP that marked the last day Adam ever used Why people like Adam literally die without the 12 steps being done quickly and rigorously How November 6th keeps showing up as the most important date of his life How his nonprofit is making sure nobody has to spend Christmas on a trap house floor calling treatment centers who won't pick up
The squad is losing it after Doja Cat called Elon Musk a "frog-build looking Ewok" in a viral outcry to get her audio posts back on X.
The squad dives into a spicy Homie Helpline for Jerry, whose girlfriend used a game of "Never Have I Ever" to reveal she once did "arts and crafts" with a friend who is still very much in the picture. Between the relationship drama, the crew questions human sanity after scientists successfully baked—and ate—sourdough bread using yeast harvested from a 5,000-year-old caveman mummy. Tue, Jun 2 4:08 AM → 8:39 AM A man with a knife barricaded himself in an IHOP restaurant. City of Fairfax PD units responded and evacuated the restaurant. Fairfax County PD patrol officers and tactical units assisted. At one point the barricaded suspect had opened gas lighters in the kitchen of the restaurant. Fire department units controlled gas to the building. Radio traffic from later in the incident suggests that the suspect may have slipped outside of the containment perimeter. He was later arrested. Nobody was injured. Radio Systems: - Fairfax County Project 25

We read reviews for a county fair, where people feel it's not quite up to standard for a wedding, and they may throw you out, after "making up lies" about you. Our kids often feel deep feelings they don't understand. On this special The Reconnect with Carmen podcast, we listen again to our conversation with Counselor Debra Fileta, author of "Any Day Emotions." She helps us to look at our strong emotions and what is underneath them. How does God help us understand them and respond well? How do we help our kids to the same? The Reconnect's goal is the help you apply the mind to Christ to the matters of the day, equipping you to be bold in sharing God's love! Pat and her friend Kathy took up the challenge to pray for those who serve you. Pat wrote, "We heard you talking about praying for the waitress when you eat out. We decided to put that into practice. Kathy and I were in the third week of this "experiment." So we went to IHOP after church and asked the young waitress how we could prayer for her. Her mom was our waitress two weeks ago and she came up to thank us. "But the real story was the woman we prayed for the week before...She asked us to pray that they could find a place to live with more bedrooms. She told us that the Wednesday after we prayed for her, she got a great new place with enough bedrooms and a yard for their dog! "This is only one of the blessings that I/we have had when we have done this. And like you said, everyone is happy for us to do so. Thank you so much for unlocking the door of my mouth with such a simple suggestion!" The Reconnect with Carmen and all Faith Radio shows and podcasts are made possible by your support. This week is our Spring Fundraiser. Help us continue to lead people to Christ and nurture their spiritual growth, helping listeners be rooted in Christ! Give now: Click here

Chick-fil-A's unit volumes have hit a ceiling. IHOP has trademarked an interesting acronym to promote its newest value offering. And Huey Magoo's is pushing big into Texas.
The Spleen welcomes the brilliant Kate Freund to his Oubliette, and she's here to talk about Pretty Lethal, her action film about ballerinas who have to fight their way out of a very bad situation without the help of any dads whatsoever. Before getting into the cinematic deep cuts, the gang covers the important stuff: Kate's obsession with plant-based buffalo wings, the surprisingly rich cultural history connecting Roger Corman's grindhouse empire to the founding of IHOP, and the existential crisis Kate had after watching Taken and realizing her father's skill set was more "destroy a car dealer with paperwork" than "Liam Neeson." Kate walks us through the absolutely heroic 15-year journey of getting Pretty Lethal made: from a 2011 draft involving a trapdoor to being told by an executive to just change all the women to a boys' baseball team. She didn't. The film, now top two in the US on Amazon, features five ballerinas, razor blades on pointe shoes, Uma Thurman doing knitting between takes, and a signed jar of Skippy that Kate will never, ever eat. Over the last few years, Hillsong, IHOP, Gateway Church, and now Bethel have had significant leadership failures. Even worse, these churches often covered up the extent of the damage done, rather than warn and shepherd the victims. Recently, it was discovered that Bethel Church had allowed Shawn Bolz to prophesy at Bethel for many years, ... The post The Cover Up appeared first on Unconventional Business Network.
We've spent a lot of time talking about what biblical accountability looks like at the national level - Bethel, Shawn Bolz, Mike Bickle, Chris Reed, or Michael Brown to name a few - examining cover-up culture that protects powerful leaders while silencing victims. But here's the question we keep getting in the comments and in our inboxes: What do I do when it's happening in my own church? That's a harder question — and honestly, a more important one.In this episode, Joshua Lewis, Michael Miller, and Michael Rowntree come back to ground level: your actual local church, where you know these people, where your kids go to Sunday school, where you serve. What does Matthew 18 actually look like when you're sitting across the table from an elder who won't listen? When do you escalate? When do you leave? When do you go public following 1 Timothy 5 — and is that ever right for a layperson to do?We're walking through the biblical process step by step, giving you real categories for navigating one of the hardest situations a believer can face. This isn't about gossip, mob justice, or protecting institutions. It's about protecting people — and honoring the Word of God in the process.0:00 – Introduction3:10 – Local Church Exposure Questions4:28 – Sins Requiring Public Exposure15:37 – Handling Private Repentant Sin 26:00 – Matthew 18 Church Discipline36:38 – Church Whistleblower Accountability45:26 – 1 Timothy 5 Elders Discipline52:38 – When to Go Public 54:45 – Leaving Abusive Church Leadership1:00:23 – Dangers of Toxic Church Culture1:01:35 – Healthy Repentance and Discipline Subscribe to The Remnant Radio newsletter and receive our FREE introduction to spiritual gifts eBook. In this conversation, Blaise Foret shares his journey within the Charismatic Movement, discussing the shift of his podcast from a business focus to addressing spiritual abuse and accountability. He emphasizes the importance of giving a voice to victims and the need for discernment in prophetic ministry. The discussion also highlights the challenges within the Charismatic Movement, the dangers of unchecked prophetic authority, and the call for greater biblical literacy among charismatics.

What does the charismatic movement look like after the fallout from Bethel, IHOP, and Hillsong and prominent figures like Shawn Bolz, Todd White, Todd Bentley and Dr. Michael Brown? What comes next for those who still believe the Spirit moves today? Join us as we address the collapse of major charismatic institutions and leaders, and the pathway to rebuilding something better. As continuationists who believe in the biblical continued use of spiritual gifts, we're asking the hard questions from inside the house: What went wrong? How did movements that claimed to champion the Holy Spirit end up producing so much spiritual abuse, financial scandal, and theological compromise? We'll explore the theological foundations that cracked under pressure, the celebrity culture that replaced accountability, and the prophetic voices that missed the mark. But this isn't just an autopsy, rather it's a blueprint for renewal. We're laying out what a reformed charismatic movement could look like: one anchored in biblical theology, marked by genuine accountability, and free from the hype-driven circus that's dominated the landscape. How do we reclaim the authentic work of the Holy Spirit while rejecting the excesses? What safeguards need to be in place to prevent future scandals? And how can local churches cultivate Spirit-filled ministry without falling into the same traps? We'll discuss practical steps forward—from restoring biblical eldership and testing prophetic words against Scripture, to dismantling the celebrity pastor industrial complex and prioritizing character over charisma. This is about building a culture that's sustainable, scriptural, and spiritually healthy for the next generation.ABOUT THE REMNANT RADIO:
