I'm excited to announce that I have accepted a role on the creative team at Sitka Gear. This is been my professional ambition for a long time and I'm humbled by the opportunity and eager to move to Bozeman and get to work. That means the end of this podcast for the forseeable future. In this short episode, I explain that decision. Thank you for listening and being a part of this with me.    CF

On this episode I talk with Jordan Riley from Captured Creative while we were at the BHA Rendezvous in Boise, ID. We talk thru Jordan's upbringing, how his career began, what hunting means to him, and how to manage the tension that arises with the thing you do for your soul becomes the thing that you do for work. This is a good conversation - give it a listen.    CF

On this episode I chat with one of my very good friends, Derek Nelson. Derek and I have known each other for a number of years now - he is one of the good ones and if you care about the hunting world at all, this episode is a fun one. We share the story of our Idaho elk hunt last fall, we talk about how he made his way to Mathews and what he does there, and how working in the industry effects what he feels about hunting. There are some great actionable tidbits in there for folks who want to navigate their careers to fields they are passionate about as well. I hope you enjoy. CF

Welcome to the first installment of what will be a recurring episode type - Off The Record. These conversations will usually be more casual in nature and cover a broad expanse of topics. On this episode I'm in Bozeman, MT hanging out with the guys having a few aluminum lites. We discuss outdoor upbringings, the differences in growing up hunting the East v. West, how Paul was a bass angler in NYC, some pro-tips for my friends back East that want to hunt out West for the first time, and various tom foolery around hunting jargon.  It's light-hearted and of no real substance and sometimes that's ok. I hope you enjoy.  CF

004 - River Jordan: Commercial photographer, world traveler, and purveyor of stoke

On this episode I chat with River Jordan - we walk through his childhood and what he learned about life while growing up on a sailboat cruising around the world, what water polo taught him about hard work, and how to design your life such that you are able to say "yes" when great opportunities come your way. River is a guy that has an infectious energy about him and I was pumped to get to know him last summer on a shoot we worked on together in Alaska. I'm equally pumped for everyone to hear this conversation, which begs a follow-up to be recorded, and I hope everyone finds value in the topics discussed. Welcome to the first proper interview episode on the Outdoor Re-Created Podcast. Our guest today is Sam Soholt. Sam is a good friend of mine and has been a guy I've gone to multiple times with my own questions in years past. I wanted Sam to be the first episode on this show because I really value his approach to building his career within the outdoor space and I think you may find a lot of insights by listening to his story. We talk about how he got his start in the hunting industry, how networking and saying "yes" has changed his life, and how he was once Joe Rogan's personal photographer (while true, I mostly added that for search results.) Also he has a bus that you may have heard about a time or two.  Enjoy.

In this first episode I explain what being re-created outside means to me by sharing my story. I talk about my family and how I grew up, the wounds and lessons from my father, my struggle with substance abuse after a severe injury, and how being outside set me on a better path to where I am today. Future episodes will walk through the experiences of others - but I see the world through the lens of my own experiences - so it's best that you know a little more about me for context. I hope you enjoy, thanks for listening.    - CF
