Send us a textIn this full episode of 2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates, Drew and Rob break down the current state of the Giants roster heading into the 2025 season, with a particular focus on the defense and special teams. The big question driving the episode: has this New York Giants team truly improved from last season? The hosts go position by position through the defense, highlighting key players, depth battles, and how new additions may impact the overall performance of the unit.On the defensive line, the team continues to be anchored by All-Pro Dexter Lawrence, but there's been a flurry of names added around him. Names like Chauncey Golston, Rakeem Nunez-Roches, and Roy Robertson-Harris stand out as rotational linemen who bring both experience and toughness. The episode explores how young players like Jordan Riley and DJ Davidson are developing, and whether undrafted options like Elijah Chatman or Timmy Horne have a realistic shot to crack the final roster. At EDGE, the addition of Pro Bowler Brian Burns last year completely changed the look of the pass rush. Combined with Kayvon Thibodeaux and star rookie Abdul Carter, the Giants now possess one of the most exciting edge rotations in the NFL. Rob and Drew debate how deep the group really is, especially when factoring in role players like Tomon Fox and Victor Dimukeje. The linebacker group returns Bobby Okereke and Micah McFadden, who both played key roles last season, but the rest of the room is in flux. Darrius Muasau, Chris Board, Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, and Ty Summers will compete for rotational and special teams roles, while Dyontae Johnson is a player to keep an eye on.The secondary is full of fresh faces and intriguing talent. At cornerback, Deonte Banks returns, joined by former Saint Paulson Adebo, slot specialist Cor'Dale Flott, and athletic depth pieces like Art Green, Greg Stroman Jr., and Tre Hawkins III. The safety group features a new leader in former Dolphin Jevon Holland to start alongside Tyler Nubin, while returning pieces like Dane Belton and Anthony Johnson Jr. round out a group with both starting potential and quality depth. On special teams, Graham Gano is back to reclaim his role as kicker after injury derailed his 2024 season. Jude Atamney provides insurance behind him. Jamie Gillan remains locked in as punter and holder, with Casey Kreiter again snapping. Return duties are expected to be handled by Ihmir Smith-Marsette and Eric Gray, both of whom offer explosiveness and reliability.Throughout the episode, Drew and Rob weigh whether this 2025 version of the Giants has enough firepower, depth, and improvement across all three phases to make a leap from last season's performance. They consider how these new pieces fit into the bigger picture of the team's direction and whether Joe Schoen has finally built a roster that can compete in the NFC East and push for a playoff spot.#giants #nygiants #nflSupport the showAll Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Send us a Text Message.During the New York Giants' training camp on Friday, July 26, key events and observations were highlighted by John Schmeelk from Giants.com. The competition between Deonte Banks and Malik Nabers continued, with both players having their moments of success. Rookie Dante “Turbo” Miller impressed by catching two touchdowns. Daniel Jones showcased his skill with a well-placed pass to Jalin Hyatt, avoiding a big hit from Bobby Okereke, while Drew Lock threw a deep ball to Bryce Ford-Wheaton. Kayvon Thibodeaux stood out with two potential sacks, including a strip fumble on Jones. Boogie Basham batted down a pass, and DJ Davidson made a notable run stop. In a two-minute drill, the offense scored against the defense in just three plays, including a deep sideline throw to Nabers, a pass to Hyatt, and a run by Jones. The second and third-team defenses won their two-minute drill battles. Jermain Eluemunor, recovering from bruised ribs, participated in team drills, sharing time with Josh Ezeudu at right tackle. On Sunday, July 28, Theo Johnson was taken off the PUP list after passing his physical, following a hip injury. The Giants released quarterback Nathan Rourke, known as “Air Canada,” who is likely to return to the CFL after a brief stint in the NFL.The Giants also signed cornerback Breon Borders, a 29-year-old undrafted player out of Duke. On Sunday, July 28, the Giants shifted their focus to deep passes after spending much of camp on red zone drills. Dane Belton, Jason Pinnock, Darrian Beavers, and Cor'Dale Flott made notable plays to prevent completions, while rookie Dru Phillips nearly intercepted a pass for a potential pick-six. Kayvon Thibodeaux, Brian Burns, Jordan Phillips, Tomon Fox, Movie Oghoufo, Matthew Adams, and Benton Whitley applied consistent pressure throughout the day. Daniel Jones had a rough start but improved towards the end, completing significant throws to Nabers and Hyatt. Drew Lock also made some impressive throws to WR Isaiah McKenzie and TE Tyree Jackson. The first day of padded practice on Monday, July 29, saw Matthew Adams arrive fully geared up, eager for the full-contact session. Before the padded drills, position groups reviewed safety protocols. In the one-on-one battles between offensive and defensive linemen, the O-line held its ground despite a drill that typically favors the defense. John Michael Schmitz was held out due to a shoulder issue, and Dexter Lawrence was absent due to illness. The highlight of these drills was the matchup between Brian Burns and Andrew Thomas. Aaron Stinnie stood out, winning all three of his battles. Elijah “Baby Bison” Chatman and Joshua Miles each won two battles, with Miles defeating Brian Burns once. Jordan Riley quickly won a battle with an inside swim move. Rookie CB Andru Phillips made some notable plays in the run game. Wide receiver Darius Slayton acknowledged trade interest but chose to remain with the Giants.Quarterback Tommy DeVito spoke candidly about his situation.Azeez Ojulari received high praise from Brian Burns, naturally. The status of Evan Neal remains uncertainLastly, a suggestion from Alex Ballentine of BlSupport the Show. All Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. "The Sign Of Victory" | Rev Jordan Riley | 7.28.24 by ARC of Carson City, NV
Defensive LineThe competition for the third starting defensive line position is between DJ Davidson, Ryder Anderson, Jordan Phillips, and Jordan Riley. Dexter Lawrence and "Nacho" Rakeem Nunez-Roches are the top two linemen. Jordan Phillips, a veteran with 120 games and 62 starts, will likely play on passing downs. Ryder Anderson fits as a DE in a 4-3 setup. Both Jordan Phillips and Jordan Riley are run stoppers, and one needs to step up. Phillips is expected to get the most playing time initially, but as he turns 32, his best days may be behind him. Upgrading this group is ideal, but given their draft status, the hope is they will be serviceable as a collective unit.Backup LinebackerBehind starting linebackers Bobby Okereke and Micah McFadden, Isaiah Simmons, Darrian Beavers, Matthew Adams, and Carter Coughlin are competing. Simmons, re-signed late, pairs well with McFadden but has positional issues. Beavers, recovering from an ACL tear, is a wildcard and may contribute on special teams. Adams and Coughlin excel on special teams but not on defense. If Beavers returns to form, he might leapfrog Adams or Coughlin on the depth chart.Starting CornerbackCor'Dale Flott, Nick McCloud, and Trey Hawkins III are vying for the starting cornerback spot. Flott is the current frontrunner despite McCloud's better performance. Hawkins, who started last season, has not maintained that level and is less likely to regain a starting role. Slot CornerbackAndru Phillips and Darnay Holmes are competing for the slot cornerback position. The team prefers Phillips, a third-round pick, but he may struggle initially. Holmes, with 54 games and 11 starts, could take over if Phillips falters. Phillips will get the first opportunity, but Holmes might see snaps if needed.Third SafetyThe battle for the third safety spot involves Dane Belton, Jalen Mills, and Gervarrius Owens. Belton is a playmaker with run defense issues. Mills, a former cornerback, is better suited for nickel/dime packages. Owens, a 7th-round pick, spent most of last season on the practice squad. Belton is likely to stay as a backup, and Mills' veteran presence is valuable. Owens needs to perform well to make Mills expendable.OTAs Update: Practice 6, 7 & 8Friday's practice saw the defense dominate, with pass breakups from Cor'Dale Flott and Jalen Mills, and an interception by Deonte Banks. Dexter Lawrence disrupted the backfield and batted down passes. Darius Slayton, Bryce Ford-Wheaton, and Jalin Hyatt scored touchdowns. Monday's practice had special teams and linebackers excelling, with interceptions by Tre Hawkins and pass breakups by Cor'Dale Flott. Tuesday's practice was offense-dominated, with Daniel Jones completing multiple passes, including a 40-yard pass to Isaiah Hodgins. "The Reason That I Sing" | Rev. Jordan Riley | 3.10.24 by ARC of Carson City, NV
Welcome to another episode of The Fair Chase Podcast! Today, James talks with Jordan Riley about hunting, creativity and working in “the industry” Here's what was discussed: Captured Creative as a full-service production agency involved in video projects, graphic design, and marketing consultation. Experiences with archery, shooting struggles, and the value of having skilled technicians. The importance of handling online critics and the growth it brings. Self-consciousness about shooting bows in front of people despite their experience. The lack of resources when they started archery is contrasted with the current abundance of educational materials and teachers. Barriers to entry in archery and the sometimes unwelcoming atmosphere in archery shops. Humility is emphasized when it comes to shooting, and they express a continuous desire to improve despite their experience. Constant progression and development at Dialed Archery, emphasizing the importance of always moving forward. Plans for the upcoming year involve bear hunts, potential goat hunts, and exploring new opportunities by applying for different tags. Hunting experiences, the lack of snow, and excitement for upcoming trips. The importance of looking cool when you pull your bow out. Khalif Wyatt, one of the best guards in the history of the Temple program, is back on North Broad Street as Adam Fisher's director of player development. This week's podcast includes the first part of John DiCarlo's conversation with Wyatt, who collected 1,576 points, 295 assists and 273 rebounds in his four-year playing career with the Owls from 2009 to 2013. Wyatt, who will be able to coach on the court this season in his director of player development role, will also coach the Big 5 team in the upcoming TBT, and he said he will play once again this summer in the annual Danny Rumph Classic next month. OwlScoop.com subscribers will get access to the full interview with Wyatt, which includes his scouting reports on several Temple players, including Jahlil White and newcomers Jordan Riley, Steve Settle, Quante Berry and Matteo Picarelli. We also have some football and basketball recruiting updates as well, along with some impact players to watch on both sides of the ball as Stan Drayton heads into his second preseason football camp with the Owls next month.

New Temple men's basketball coach Adam Fisher talked to OwlScoop.com Editor John DiCarlo this week, and you'll hear the first part of that interview on this week's podcast. Fisher, a Bucks County native who came to North Broad Street after two seasons as an assistant at Penn State, offered listeners a scouting report of the Owls' newest players - Matteo Picarelli, Quante Berry, Jordan Riley and Steve Settle - and how he and his staff identified them and recruited them out of the transfer portal. Fisher also talked about his ascension through the coaching ranks and the people who have mentored him, including former Villanova head coach Jay Wright and Miami head coach Jim Larranaga. Later on in the podcast, John and Declan Landis have the latest Temple football and basketball recruiting updates as well, in addition to answers to your mailbag questions.
Two years ago, Jahlil White capped off his redshirt freshman season by earning Big 5 Rookie of the Year honors while also being named to the American Athletic Conference All-Freshman team. But as the Owls fell well short of their NCAA Tournament expectations this past season, White struggled with his scoring production and his confidence as part of a team that lost its way. "I feel like we all kind of got a little bit selfish," White said Friday on this week's episode of The Scoop. "We thought about ourselves before the team sometimes, and it showed on the court. We weren't as connected as we should have been, and it showed. It takes much more than just having talent to be a successful team, and that was a clear example of it last year." White thinks that will change under new head coach Adam Fisher. Find out what White had to say about the new staff and the newest transfer portal additions, including Quante Berry, Matteo Picarelli, Jordan Riley and Steve Settle, on this week's podcast. And we have some Temple football recruiting updates for you in the mailbag as well.
Temple landed two important recruits this week in Georgetown transfer guard Jordan Riley and Howard transfer forward Steve Settle, and you'll hear from both players on this week's OwlScoop.com podcast. Riley, a former top-150 recruit, talked about why he connected with new head coach Adam Fisher and why he's better than what his stats from his first two seasons with the Hoyas would indicate, and Settle was struck by Fisher's energy and believes that he and the Owls' staff can help him in areas of his game where he's just starting to scratch the surface. In addition to hearing from Riley and Settle, listeners will get football recruiting updates and answers to their mailbag questions as well. 18:47 – Steve Settle on why he connected with Adam Fisher and how he believes Fisher and the staff can improve his game. 30:27 – Jordan Riley on why his game film matters more than his stats from his first two seasons at Georgetown. 31:54 – Riley on how he believes Adam Fisher will want Temple to play in his first season and how he believes Fisher will use him. 33:30 – Football recruiting update on the addition of ETSU transfer defensive lineman Davion Hood. 36:58 – Mailbag
Some updates on recruiting in basketball, talking about Quante Berry and Jordan Riley who have been added to the roster.
The New York Giants made seven selections over the weekend in the 2023 NFL draft. Picks included Deonte Banks, John Michael Schmitz, Jalin Hyatt, Eric Gray, Tre Hawkins, Jordan Riley and Gervarrius Owens.

Barrie, Ontario's Jordan Riley has just released his latest single "All Nighter" written with Taylor Abram & Connor Stephen from James Barker Band. About the song, Jordan says: "“All Nighter” was written to be a song for the weekend, a song that makes you feel like whatever happened during the week didn’t matter. It’s a time where everyone can come together and share the same passion for the weekend. When we started writing “All Nighter” we knew we wanted to write something everyone could relate to, a song about letting go and living large. The end result was exactly what we wanted, it’s an anthem for everyone who works hard but plays harder." Tune in to hear the song & learn about Jordan's influences, songwriting approach & more!
