Doug Boughton: The Secret to Building Insanely Profitable Affiliate Marketing Ecosystems | #Marketing - Ep. 98

Most entrepreneurs think affiliate marketing is a side hustle or a distraction from building real offers. In this episode of The Russell Brunson Show, Doug Boughton completely reframes that belief. What he shares is not about quick commissions or one-off launches. It is about building an affiliate ecosystem that compounds over time, increases authority, shortens sales cycles, and quietly feeds your own offers without pulling you away from your current business. Doug walks through how affiliate marketing became his most freeing income stream and why it now sits at the center of his long-term business and legacy strategy. If you sell anything online, whether you are just getting started or already have your own offers, this episode will change how you think about traffic, collaborations, and growth. Doug breaks down the exact ways affiliate marketing can amplify everything you are already doing instead of competing with it. Key Highlights: ◼️Why affiliate marketing works best when it enhances your core offers instead of replacing them ◼️How to use other people's launches and attention waves to grow your audience, authority, and credibility ◼️The three ways affiliate ecosystems work together: other people's offers selling yours, your offers selling theirs, and customers becoming promoters ◼️How email segmentation and integration marketing turn non-buyers into long-term customers ◼️The strategy and platform behind building an army of affiliates promoting your business ◼️Why longevity, alignment, and recurring value matter more than short-term affiliate payouts Doug's presentation is a masterclass in leverage, and long-term thinking. Instead of chasing ‘quick' tactics, he shows how doing the right things consistently builds momentum that pays off for years. He's showing you how affiliate marketing is all about creating win-win relationships, serving your audience better, and letting your business grow through trust and collaboration. If you want a model that creates freedom while strengthening your core offers, this episode lays out the path clearly. ◼️If you've got a product, offer, service… or idea… I'll show you how to sell it (the RIGHT way) Register for my next event → https://sellingonline.com/podcast ◼️Still don't have a funnel? In this episode of the A is for Architecture Podcast, I spoke with John Boughton, social historian, writer and blogger. John has written the hugely insightful and important blog, Municipal Dreams since 2013, on which he explores the history, impact, and legacy of social and council housing in Britain, highlighting its architectural, political, and social significance. In 2018, his first major book, Municipal Dreams: The Rise and Fall of Council Housing, was published by Verso, followed in 2022 by A History of Council Housing in 100 Estates, published with RIBA Publishing.John's work traces the history of council housing and council estate architecture in Britain, from its origins in the c19 and early 20th century as a response to poor living conditions, to its peak in the post-war era, when UK social housing policy provided millions with high-quality, state-funded homes. We discuss this and how shifting political and economic priorities, concretized in the Right to Buy policy UK under Margaret Thatcher in the 1980s, led to the widespread privatization of council housing, reducing public housing stock and contributing to today's housing crisis. Well-planned social housing remains crucial in addressing the global housing permacrisis. John's work is a perfect resource for showing us how it has been, and could be done again. So, listen to John then read his blog and books, Start here. John can be found on his blogs, linked above, as are his books.# ArchitecturePodcast #MunicipalDreams #JohnBoughton #CouncilHousing #SocialHousing #AisforArchitecture+Music credits: Bruno Gillick

In the season 5 finale episode, I explore Hill's approach to Team Leadership as detailed in chapter 16 from the 9th edition of Peter G. Northouse's "Leadership: Theory and Practice." During the segment, I highlight connections to our class' definition of leadership, discuss the importance of a strong culture, provide an overview of the model, and conclude with strengths and criticisms of the model. For the final Living Leadership interview of the year I'm joined by Deb Boughton, the Deputy Athletic Director at Marshall University. Before arriving at Marshall, she had a similar role at Northern Illinois University. Deb is a 1997 Trinity University alumna. While at Trinity she was a standout on the women's soccer team and was in the first class of Trinity Master's of Accounting program.  She speaks glowingly about role models and mentors like her head coach Nick Cowell, accounting professor Dr. Petrea Sandlin, and Trinity's longtime Director of Athletics Bob King. Deb firmly believes that nothing gets done if you haven't built strong relationships and emphasizes the difference between management and leadership. Speaking about relationships and the value of intercollegiate athletics, Deb says "A coach connects you to a program, but your teammates keep you there." She highlights that great leaders see no boundaries or limitations, but that they need strong colleagues to help them be aware of the pitfalls or proverbial alligators. I love how she describes what college athletics was for her and what it is for so many others - a place to learn, overcome fears, and develop confidence. During the conversation we discuss fruit salad versus gumbo as metaphors for why diversity matters and her two tenets of leadership: 1) reliability and 2) trust. This is an amazing conversation to conclude season 5 and I hope you enjoy!

Eric Boughton, chief analyst at Matisse Capital and portfolio manager for the Matisse Discounted Closed-End Fund Strategy, says that while the stock market has roared this year, things haven't changed much with the closed-end fund space this year, meaning there are plenty of highly discounted issues, particularly in muni bonds and some other fixed-income spaces, as well as international funds. He notes that many closed-funds that were good deals based on discounts a year ago haven't narrowed those bargains but now deliver improved yields, which is why he is buying certain issues now 'hand over fist.'

Eric Boughton, portfolio manager/chief analyst at Matisse Capital -- which runs mutual funds that invest in closed-end funds -- says that investors can find attractive discounts in a few sectors right now, notably in municipal bonds, high-yield and bank-loan funds are worth investigating in fixed income, with foreign stocks and MLP funds (investing in master limited partnerships) leading the opportunity set in equities. Boughton notes that investors can do significant "discount capture" -- making profitable trades as discounts to net asset value narrow and change, using that volatility as an additional way to generate profits. Also on the show, Bankrate.com analyst Sarah Foster discusses the pressure consumers are feeling -- and especially younger shoppers -- to spend up this holiday season, plus we revisit a late October interview with Chris Davis, portfolio manager and chairman of Davis Advisors, a conversation Chuck has described as "one of the very best interviews we will do on the show this year."

Gunsmoke is an American radio and television Western drama series created by director Norman Macdonnell and writer John Meston. The stories take place in and around Dodge City, Kansas, during the settlement of the American West. The central character is lawman Marshal Matt Dillon, played by William Conrad on radio and James Arness on television. When aired in the United Kingdom, the television series was initially titled Gun Law, later reverting to Gunsmoke. The radio series ran from 1952 to 1961. John Dunning wrote that among radio drama enthusiasts, "Gunsmoke is routinely placed among the best shows of any kind and any time." The television series ran for 20 seasons from 1955 to 1975 and lasted for 635 episodes. At the end of its run in 1975, Los Angeles Times columnist Cecil Smith wrote: "Gunsmoke was the dramatization of the American epic legend of the west. Our own Iliad and Odyssey, created from standard elements of the dime novel and the pulp Western as romanticized by Buntline, Harte, and Twain. It was ever the stuff of legend." Radio series (1952–1961) In the late 1940s, CBS chairman William S. Paley, a fan of the Philip Marlowe radio series, asked his programming chief, Hubell Robinson, to develop a hardboiled Western series, a show about a "Philip Marlowe of the Old West". Robinson instructed his West Coast CBS Vice President, Harry Ackerman, who had developed the Philip Marlowe series, to take on the task. Ackerman and his scriptwriters, Mort Fine and David Friedkin, created an audition script called "Mark Dillon Goes to Gouge Eye'' based on one of their Michael Shayne radio scripts, "The Case of the Crooked Wheel" from the summer of 1948. Two versions were recorded. The first, recorded in June 1949, was very much like a hardboiled detective series and starred Michael Rye (credited as Rye Billsbury) as Dillon; the second, recorded in July 1949, starred Straight Arrow actor Howard Culver in a more Western, lighter version of the same script. CBS liked the Culver version better, and Ackerman was told to proceed. A complication arose, though; Culver's contract as the star of Straight Arrow would not allow him to do another Western series. The project was shelved for three years, when producer Norman Macdonnell and writer John Meston discovered it while creating an adult Western series of their own. Macdonnell and Meston wanted to create a radio Western for adults, in contrast to the prevailing juvenile fare such as The Lone Ranger and The Cisco Kid. Gunsmoke was set in Dodge City, Kansas, during the thriving cattle days of the 1870s.
