Whaddup jive turkeys? Tabletop Trainwreck is a podcast dedicated to the discussion of tabletop gaming, including board games, RPGs, wargames, and more. Join Bill and Liam (and sometimes Kay) every week as they discuss games and the rich fictional worlds behind them. We might not be very professional…
Shush, I know it's November. This is the episode we were going to do for Tabletop Terror this year, but I was lazy about editing it, oopsie poopsie. On this episode, Liam and Bill go through the first encounter of the Forgotten Age expansion for the Arkham Horror LCG.
Liam and Bill are raiding the tomb once again to talk about an LCG from Fantasy Flight games: Warhammer Conquest. In our usual fashion, we delve into our experience trying this game out, and attempt to rate it on our objective scale to give you a decent idea of what the game is like to play in the modern day.Two uploads in a row? I'm a madman
On this episode of Tabletop Trainwreck, Bill and Liam are joined by "esteemed" guest Henry to once again do a world building exercise. This time however, we try to build a world with a horror theme in order to keep with the Halloween spirit (I know its November, shut up).
Today (or tonight) on Tabletop Trainwreck, Liam and Bill talk about what creates appeal in a card game. By examining the strongest points of the biggest card games in the industry, we attempt to find out what exactly makes them so popular decades after their release.
Back again from another hiatus, Liam and Bill cover the recent news from Wizards of the Coast regarding a controversial new crossover. In this episode, we discuss the changes that have been occurring in Magic, as well as where we think the game may be headed. Also we kinda forgot Tabletop Terror, but hush.
Whaddup poopie heads, its ya boys back at it again with some spicy advice for playing an RPG. This time, we're diving into our favorite part of making any game, the worldbuilding. In this episode, we explain our strategies when worldbuilding, as well as build a world on the air so you can hear our process. Much like all of our episodes, it's much more freeform in nature, but we hope you can learn something of use from it either way.
Welcome to episode two of Card Game Crypt. Today we'll be exhuming one of the more recent corpses added to the crypt by Fantasy Flight Games, the hybrid dice and card game Star Wars Destiny. We recorded this episode quite some time ago, but couldn't be bothered to edit it until now. Hopefully with the pandemic winding down we can meet up more often to review some card games, but who knows.
Is it actually number 7? I have no idea. Welcome back to Tabletop Trainwreck! After a long plague-induced hiatus we're back and worse than ever! We could think of no better way to celebrate our triumphal return than by spewing out another heinous ramble about things totally unrelated to tabletop gaming. This is lowkey an episode about Mass Effect, no mo rulez. We'll have a tabletop-related episode up soon though, so don't you worry. Tali is best girl.Hackett out.
On this week's ramble, Liam and Bill tackle 'controversial' tabletop gaming issues in Debate Corner! We discuss the pros and cons of paid DMing in RPGs, cover charges at game stores, and the Magic the Gathering reserve list. I have no idea if this will become a real series or not, depends on if we can be bothered to prepare a real topic. Also, sorry we haven't been uploading much at all. Part of it is due to the current plague, part of it is due to us both having full time jobs (not anymore lol), but mostly it's because we're too lazy to put more stuff out. We have a few more episodes that have been recorded but not edited, and we will try to get them out soon (now that I'm on that quarantine grind). Stay safe, keep it real, and don't trust anything Liam says.
On this episode Bill and Liam discuss ways to be a good player. Being a good player can involve a lot of things and is often very subjective, being dependent on the needs and wants of you, your group, and your DM. We offer only some advice, but there's much more to being a "good" player that you can find out for yourself.
I'm sorry, did you think we were done with L5R? Adorable. Here's another one, this time discussing the LCG with which Liam and I have been obsessed for the past month or so. Here we will discuss the mechanics of the game, how to get into it, and why we think its so much fun. Additionally, since Liam isn't here to speak his lies, I'd like to take the opportunity to tell you more about the Crab Clan. Honor is for nerds, duty is much more important. I know that's the scorpion's thing, but go fuck yourself crabs can swim too. You don't need other clans, just Crab. Just CrabJust Crab JUST CRAB
Whaddup turd burglars. This week, Liam and Bill go through the process of creating a character in the Legend of the Five Rings RPG. I know we've been doing a lot of L5R content recently, and that's because the two of us are super into it right now. We have a lot more L5R content we want to cover, including a full overview of the RPG, as well as both the LCG and the now-defunct CCG. For those of you who aren't into the L5R stuff, sorry. We will try to add a bit more variety in these upcoming episodes, but we will be returning to L5R quite a bit. This is a terrible description. I'm tired. 0 rulez
Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to our latest subseries: Card Game Crypt. On this series, we will be reviewing the deadest of card games, starting off with the World of Warcraft CCG. We will describe the basic mechanics of the game, as well as give it a (somewhat) objective rating to help compare it to other games that have come and gone. We hope you will join us as we plunder the tomb in search of the forgotten gems in the card game world that have been lost to time. Side note, Audacity cut out again on this episode, but thankfully that was while we were doing the outtro plugs. We are looking into why this keeps happening, and will try to be extra vigilant while recording from now on.
On this week's episode, Liam and Bill recount their experiences at PAX Unplugged, a tabletop gaming convention held in Philadelphia, PA. We talk about what we liked, what we hated, and the people we met along the way. It was a fantastic experience, and we hope to go again next year! I'm also going to apologize again, for whatever reason we lost about an hour of good arguing audio at the end. We're going to try to figure out why Audacity keeps doing this to us, but it is unlikely that we will be able to recover the missing segment. It's okay though, you really didn't miss anything of value.
Hello everybody! This is the third and final part of the Legend of the Five Rings Beginner Set! During this episode we finally find out who shall be the Topaz Champion, as well, Bill, Liam, Jack, and Henry discuss their feelings on the set itself, Legend of the Five Rings as a whole, and other such fun topics!
In this wonderful episode, Bill and Liam are joined by Jack AND Henry! The group continues their journey throughout the beginner set and begin learning more and more about what is truly going on at the Topaz Championship! Spoilers ahead for those wishing to get it. Also, we would just like to apologize now because at the very end a large portion of audio just didn't record! So, unfortunately, it stop abruptly. But, fear not, in Episode 3 we run down with what you guys missed!
On this episode of TTTW, Liam, Bill, and special guest Jack play through the beginner game set for the Legend of the Five Rings RPG. This set is specifically designed for people who have never played an RPG before, and we felt that it would be an appropriate introduction into the world, as well as a good way to review the product before you buy it. Over the course of three episodes, we will run through the adventure contained within the set, and at the end we will give a final review. I know that we haven't put up anything for three weeks, sorry. I've been way too lazy to edit. 0 rulez.
On today's exciting episode of Midnight Ramblers, we discuss Thai drama, vampires, magick, Magic, and more!
Getting back into the sWING of things, Bill and Liam discuss one of their favorite board games Wingspan created by Stone Maier games. It's a simple game about birds and having lovely birds. Taking care of them, feeding them, and putting them in habitats. It's the type of game you can play and all have fun for every age.
This is the final episode of Tabletop Terror, and we've saved the scariest game in the tabletop world for last. F.A.T.A.L. or For Another Time, Another Land, or Fantasy Adventure to Adult Lechery, is widely regarded as one of the worst games every created. We did not have fun making this episode and I, Liam, did not have any fun editing it and it may be filled with holes because I simply could not subjugate myself to it a second time. So have fun! -LiamThis is one of the most disgusting, offensive, and uncomfortable games ever devised by mankind. Even I, as someone who has a pretty high tolerance for this kind of shit, was taken aback by just how terrible this was. The subject matter we discuss contains rape, flagrant racism, and disgusting sexual perversions. If any of that makes you uncomfortable, seriously consider not listening. -Bill Listen if you dare.
In this terrifying episode of Tabletop Terror Bill, Liam, and Kay venture into the haunted depths of the gruesome games Betrayal at House on the Hill as well as the oh so popular module for Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition, Curse of Strahd! They discuss they give praise and critique as well as ramble on about personal anecdotes and stories about the games!
This week (being the week of October 1st obviously) is the start of our mini-series Tabletop Terror! Bill, Liam, and Kay have a horror of eldritch proportions this week as they step deep into the world of H.P. Lovecraft! The game? Call of Cthulhu! Based on the works of H.P. Lovecraft, Call of Cthulhu is a much loved tabletop role-playing game based around investigation and role-play! Have fun diving into this eldritch nightmare and even listen to some gameplay featuring Kay as the Keeper, Liam as dogged police detective Pat, Henry as Billionaire, Playboy, Pilot, Alcoholic Luc, and Dan as rugged mechanic Colin!
Bill and Liam revisit the Warhammer 40,000 universe to discuss the dark(er) side of humanity: Chaos. We incoherently discuss the armies, the lore, and the models that make up some of the most frightening parts of the 40k universe.
In this ramble, Bill and Liam discuss World of Warcraft Classic, Star Sector, and much more!
We are once again joined by special guest Kay (who at this point is pretty much the third host) to discuss one of the oldest institutions in Dungeons and Dragons: alignment. We go though each stage of the classic morality scale attempting to explain our thoughts on them and leave you with some ideas to help inspire you to use alignment in more creative ways. Although we might devolve into our usual messy rambles, we hope that you'll learn something along the way.
Bill and Liam ramble about Shadowrun, Transhumanism, and more!

Welcome to Midnight Ramblers, a new series within the Tabletop Trainwreck cinematic universe where we talk about whatever dumb garbage we feel like. Bill and Liam are once more joined by professional motherf***er and DM extraordinaire Kay to talk about superheroes, movies, tabletop experiences, and much more. We hope that you will enjoy this casual and directionless chatter as much as we enjoyed making it.
Bill and Liam are joined by their very special guest, Kay! They discuss good player relations, constructing a campaign, and the very basics of constructing a story! It's a bit of a ramble, but we hope you learn something!
Will and Liam royally $#@& this episode up with the most rambling yet. But join us anyway as we really make an honest effort to get through this.
We begin our first foray into the long and arduous ramble of Dungeons and Dragons. Van Darkholme please come on our show.
This episode is a small guide for new players looking to get into Warhammer, both 40k and Age of Sigmar. Expect a lot of phlegm, a lot of rambling, and a lot of goofs.
Another long winded ramble, this time about the relatively new card game Keyforge.
Join us as we ramble on in a desperate attempt to explain the beloved RPG, Vampire: The Masquerade.
