Howard Phillips Lovecraft (1890–1937) fue un escritor estadounidense, ampliamente reconocido como una figura central en la literatura de terror del siglo XX. Es célebre por haber creado los "Mitos de Cthulhu", una mitología ficticia que dio origen al subgénero del horror cósmico. Desde temprana edad, mostró un intelecto prodigioso: recitaba poesía a los dos años, leía a los tres y escribía a los seis . A pesar de su brillantez, su salud mental y física fue frágil, lo que limitó su vida social y académica. Lovecraft es considerado un innovador del cuento de terror, al que aportó una mitología propia —los Mitos de Cthulhu—, desarrollada en colaboración con otros autores, actualmente en vigencia . 1267. Fantarquía se ha convertido en uno de esos eventos que, aun sin haber asistido nunca, me despierta la sensación de estar ante algo especial. Hoy quería aprovechar el episodio para hablar de este encuentro que tendrá lugar en Valencia el próximo sábado 29, una jornada donde la fantasía peligrosa, la literatura y el podcasting se mezclan sin pedir permiso y sin miedo a romper la realidad por alguna costura. Y como no todo el mundo escucha estos capítulos el mismo día en el que salen, prefiero dejar constancia de lo que han preparado porque, si me estás escuchando desde el futuro, quizá te preguntes qué era exactamente esta locura llamada Fantarquía. La historia empieza con tres entidades que han decidido juntar talento, pasión y una buena dosis de imaginación: El Vuelo del Cometa, la editorial La Magnífica y La Lenta, una incubadora cultural ubicada en pleno centro de Valencia. Fantarquía nace como un aquelarre moderno donde poner a prueba los límites del fantástico, un espacio para editoriales, autores, podcasters y criaturas literarias que se atrevan a mirar al abismo sin parpadear. En su web lo explican con una claridad deliciosa: si algo es fantástico y peligroso, tiene su hogar en Fantarquía. El programa del sábado 29 es una maratón en toda regla. Desde la apertura de puertas a las diez de la mañana hasta el cierre a las nueve de la noche, la jornada está repleta de actividades que van desde cuentacuentos de terror hasta ponencias sobre el relato adulto en videojuegos, pases en directo de podcast, charlas sobre inteligencia artificial y partidas de rol repartidas por varios espacios. Habrá encuentros literarios, talleres impartidos por autores muy reconocidos y sesiones de juegos tan variados como Dungeons & Dragons o La Llamada de Cthulhu.  La entrada es gratuita, pero pedir datos previos es obligatorio para saber cuántos “duendes salvajes” habrá que sacrificar ese día. Todo está escrito con un humor que encaja perfectamente con el espíritu del evento. El formulario casi podría considerarse una pieza literaria en sí misma: invita al viajero de los reinos imposibles a anunciar si caminará entre los asistentes y deja claro que la asistencia no reserva actividades, sino que simplemente invoca la presencia del visitante. Me ha parecido un detalle fantástico, nunca mejor dicho. También quiero aprovechar para mencionar que fui testigo, hace meses, del nacimiento de esta idea.
