Weird Tales Double Feature presents two chilling novelettes by H. P. Lovecraft, exploring the depths of horror within the Cthulhu mythos. "The Haunter in the Dark" delves into the eerie atmosphere of an old church in Providence, Rhode Island, a place shunned by the locals, while "The Thing on the Door-Step" reveals the creeping terror that builds until it manifests in a shocking climax. These stories resonate with timeless themes of fear, the unknown, and the fragility of sanity, making them enduring pieces of literature that continue to captivate listeners today. Lovecraft's mastery of weird fiction ensures that these tales remain as haunting now as they were at the time of their publication.

Hoje partilhamos as nossas primeiras impressões de The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu.

Set for an October 2026 release, this 320-page volume is authored by industry experts such as Matt Forbeck and Jon Peterson, covering multiple campaign settings and lore for $60. Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast face significant challenges finding a developer for “Baldur's Gate 4” following the departure of Larian Studios. Developers like Archetype Entertainment have declined the project, noting the overwhelming difficulty of following up the massive success of “Baldur's Gate 3”. BackerKit has partnered with DriveThruRPG to streamline the distribution of digital content for TTRPG crowdfunding campaigns. This integration allows for the automatic delivery of digital rewards to backers as soon as they pledge, improving the experience for both creators and supporters. The board game publisher CMON has undergone staff reductions, including the departure of long-time director of design and development Michael Shinall. These layoffs follow a difficult 2025 for the company, which recorded $20 million in losses and prompted the sale of several key IPs to stabilize its finances.1 “Our Lives, Our Fortunes” is a crowdfunding campaign on BackerKit, which runs until July 5, 2026. This supernatural horror TTRPG presents an alternate history of the American Revolution where the war is won not by traditional historical figures, but by witches, werewolves, and necromancers. Published by Wet Ink Games, the title utilizes the “+One System,” which relies on D6 dice pools for skills and a deck of playing cards to manage supernatural abilities, offering a unique narrative experience centered on the struggle for equality. #dnd #wetink #cmon #baldursgates4 Our Lives, Our Fortunes on Backerkit: https://www.backerkit.com/c/projects/wet-ink-games/our-lives-our-fortunes Roll Big or Go Home Bundle: https://humblebundleinc.sjv.io/k49Mnd Doctor Who and Warhammer to Cthulhu, Transformers, and even My Little Pony! Ravenloft is a setting built on fear, tragedy, and impossible choices. Naturally, we spent the first ten minutes arguing about whether Florida is its own Domain of Dread, listening to Ash tell a story about getting magically demoted from noble to peasant, and debating whether "lofting ravens" is a real phrase. Honestly, the Dark Powers couldn't have written a better introduction. Show Notes In Part 3 of our review of Ravenloft: The Horrors Within, we finally leave the player options behind and dive into the heart of the setting itself. Wizards of the Coast dramatically expands the Domains of Dread, providing campaign frameworks, detailed gazetteers, new maps, Dark Lord stat blocks, horror advice, Tarokka options, and enough adventure hooks to keep a party terrified for months. We begin by exploring the overall structure of the book and immediately appreciate how much more usable it is than Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft. Every major domain now includes lore, locations, horror themes, campaign outlines, one-shot adventures, and, perhaps most importantly, fully realized stat blocks for the Dark Lords themselves. No more "just use the Spy stat block." From Barovia to Lamordia, we tour some of Ravenloft's most iconic locations. We revisit Strahd's eternal torment, explore the political nightmare of Borca, marvel at Darkon's crumbling reality, survive Falkovnia's endless zombie siege, admire Har'Akir's gorgeous redesign, and gush over Lamordia's expanded support. Along the way we discover that some Domains received spectacular glow-ups while others inspired... spirited debate. Not every addition lands equally. The panel spends considerable time discussing Innsmouth and Cthulhu's inclusion, questioning whether cosmic horror fits Ravenloft's core theme of ironic punishment and personal damnation. The conversation turns into an entertaining deep dive on what actually makes a Dark Lord compelling and why some monsters work better as unknowable forces than boss encounters. By the end of the episode, one thing is clear: even with a few controversial choices, The Horrors Within dramatically improves Ravenloft as a campaign setting. Better maps, better adventures, better stat blocks, and substantially more support make this feel like the definitive version of the Domains of Dread. Key Takeaways The setting chapters are the standout portion of the book. Every major Domain of Dread receives significantly expanded support compared to Van Richten's Guide. Every major Dark Lord finally has a unique stat block worthy of an epic confrontation. New maps, campaign outlines, and one-shot adventures make the book far easier to run. Tarokka cards now tie directly into individual Domains and Dark Lords, adding flavorful campaign tools. Horror guidance remains solid, especially for GMs running gothic horror for the first time. Several redesigned Domains, especially Har'Akir and Lamordia, receive high praise for their presentation and atmosphere. Innsmouth and Cthulhu spark the episode's biggest debate, with questions about whether cosmic horror belongs in Ravenloft's established mythology. Lamordia emerges as one of the panel's favorite sections thanks to its expanded lore, updated locations, and memorable adventure hooks. Despite a handful of criticisms, the group considers the setting material a substantial improvement over previous Ravenloft sourcebooks. Welcome to the RPGBOT Podcast. Monolith is launching a new Kickstarter campaign to reprint most of their Conan board game and roleplaying game range, introducing expansions like Tortage and Zamora. Additionally, it was announced that animation legend Genndy Tartakovsky, Cartoon Network Studios, and Prime Video are collaborating on an early-stage animated series based on Conan the Barbarian. Monster Fight Club has revealed The Witcher: No Man’s Land, a new tabletop miniatures skirmish game designed in partnership with CD PROJEKT RED. Utilizing the publisher’s [RE]action System for fast, organic combat, the game offers a factionless force-building system, with a 2-player starter set containing miniatures, tactical cards, and scenario components. In labor news, employees of the Magic: The Gathering Arena division at Wizards of the Coast have successfully voted to form a union, with 79 out of 102 eligible voters supporting the initiative. Represented by the Communications Workers of America (CWA), the unit plans to negotiate a collective bargaining agreement to address workplace concerns such as pay, crunch time, and return-to-office policies. Free League Publishing is set to release Operation: Leading Edge in Q4 2026, the second cinematic adventure expansion in the Alien RPG “Jeremiah Saga.” Designed for 3–5 players, the expansion includes a standalone narrative focusing on Colonial Marines, along with maps, character cards, and tokens, with an optional miniatures set also available. #monlith #witcher #mtg #alienrpg Monolith's Conan KIckstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/monolithboardgames/conan-by-monolith-tales-of-tortage-and-zamora Monster Fight Club: www.monsterfightclub.com Roll Big or Go Home Bundle: https://humblebundleinc.sjv.io/k49Mnd Doctor Who and Warhammer to Cthulhu, Transformers, and even My Little Pony! Fascinating Gadgets, Gizmos, and Gear Based Technologies

How do spells actually work — and why do some only affect certain creatures? In this episode of FGGGbT, the Brain Trust — Daniel J. Glenn, Dr. Michael Dennin, and Ben Sieper — break down the mechanics, physics, and philosophy behind spellcasting in D&D and beyond. We explore the power of true names and pronunciation (Cthulhu, anyone?), the science behind spell foci like wands — including a deep dive into electrostatics and why wood might not be a coincidence. We dig into why Charm Person doesn’t work on a dog, why Hold Monster is harder than Hold Person, and why elves are immune to Sleep (spoiler: they don’t actually sleep). Then we get into the physics of Fireball vs. Wall of Fire, including a true story about an accidental wall of fire in a college lecture hall. Finally, we tackle one of science’s oldest debates — is magic (and math) invented or discovered? — using the Newton vs. Leibniz and Edison vs. Tesla rivalries as our guide. Whether you’re a D&D player who’s always wondered why Otto’s Irresistible Dance might not work on someone without legs, or a science fan curious about the line between magic and physics, this episode is for you. Topics Covered: True names & the power of words in magic systems Spell foci: wands, electrostatics & druidic focus items Charm Person vs. Charm Monster — the biology of persuasion Hold Person vs. Hold Monster & paralysis mechanics Why Sleep affects (almost) everyone — and why elves are immune The physics of Fireball, Wall of Fire & controlling chaotic energy Named spells & the “second discoverer” effect (Newton, Leibniz, Tesla, Edison) Is magic invented or discovered? Anthony “Runeslinger” (Casting Shadows) and I discuss what makes “good players” buy into horror roleplaying and, specifically, why characters would investigate terrifying situations and keep returning after trauma. They explore common answers, such as belonging to an organization (e.g., Delta Green), and why that only starts the conversation, contrasting player motivation (“otherwise we don't play the game”) with believable character motivation. Anthony emphasizes building motivations through bonds, community ties, and mirrored player/character connections—what he calls “unity of perspective”—rather than removing agency by trapping characters. Using examples from their long Call of Cthulhu and Trail of Cthulhu campaigns, they examine active versus passive buy-in, GM/player collaboration, table communication, and how differing play styles and feedback help sustain engaging horror play.************************************Support the show for as little as $1 a month: Add this to the end of your link on DriveThruRPG to support the show: ?affiliate_id=1044145Example: https://preview.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/397612/Court-of-Blades--Scandal-Forged-in-the-Dark?affiliate_id=1044145Check out our live-streaming content on Twitch Don't miss our RPG Actual Plays, tutorials, and gaming content on YouTube Listen to an excellent board game podcast Go to the Writer's Room for 7th Sea Adventures!Check out the great games from A Couple of Drakes:Listen to Tales of the ManticoreFollow us on Facebook, Follow on BlueSky
