An experience questioning and roaming through the fundamentals of life. I seek to explore topics that are forgotten in today's day and age. As well as bring a sense of diversity to the microphone. Through these interviews and inquiries I seek to educate and make people think about what really matter…

Hello everyone, Happy New year. Hope everyone is keeping in good spirits. I know this is truly a tough time for everyone with this Covid-19 pandemic, lockdowns, and uncertainty. I just wanted to reach out and give everyone a reminder about how good our Lord Jesus Christ is truly our refuge in these difficult times. I chose to read from three passages, you can follow along in your Bibles. Discussing the murder of George Floyd

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 5, 2020 89:38

In this episode I sat down with people from my church to discuss the murder of George Floyd. Like many of you I could not even bare to watch the 8 minute and 46 second video graphically detailing the unjust murder of an unarmed black man at the hands of a police officer while the other 3 officers stood by and watched. As a black man myself you know I would not remain silent on this issue and I had my fair share of conversations in the past few weeks. I fell like it is important to share with you this discussion I recorded on my phone because I feel like the details of this conversation would be beneficial to most. We discuss the historical implications of how we ended in a society with unconscious biases towards black people, the systematic oppression of black people particularity in North America, and where we are in human history. If you are listening on Spotify key points throughout the conversation to note would be: 18:24-22:05, 22:10-27:20, 29:35-37:55, 41:10-53:00, 53:15-1:05:35, and 1:08:35-1:25:43. Sound production by Morgan Edwards Intro music by Noah Aslan Daniel, song title: Six Feet Under --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/masoud-a-johnson/message

I sat down recently with a friend who visited her homeland of Sri Lanka. During the conversation we touched on her experiences as a second generation tamil canadian and the current state of the country in light of the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings. In the latter half of our conversation we discussed the civil wars ramifications in the lives of Tamil civilians. Part 1 highlights: The beauty of the island. We touched on: the UNESCO World heritage sites, wildlife, cuisine, and lifestyle/culture on the island. However we also spoke of the tragedy of the recent Easter Sunday Bombings and its impact on the Island. In Part 2 we had a discussion about the realities of the Sri Lankan civil war and its lasting implications on Tamil civilians. Today marks the 11th year anniversary of Mullivaikkal massacre. Also known as Tamil genocide remembrance day. This episode commemorates the thousands of Tamil civilians lost during the final phase of the civil war. We hope to raise awareness to the oppression minorities face at the hands of political and military powers. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/masoud-a-johnson/message
