Desde hace tres años la inteligencia artificial es omnipresente. Todos somos, directa o indirectamente, usuarios de esta tecnología que requiere una infraestructura muy costosa y grandes inversiones. El auge ha desatado una fiebre por levantar de centros de datos. Las Big Tech han invertido más en ellos que lo que costó construir la red de autopistas interestatales. Los más optimistas la comparan con la revolución industrial, pero nadie sabe cómo, cuándo o si recuperarán la inversión. Es una apuesta especulativa a que la IA evolucione rápido, transforme la economía y genere beneficios constante y sonantes en unos pocos años. En Silicon Valley los hay que con esto tienen un déjà vu que les lleva directos a la burbuja puntocom. En aquel entonces miles de empresas puntocom aparecieron de la nada y se realizaron grandes inversiones en fibra óptica. Todo estaba justificado por el crecimiento de Internet, que se preveía explosivo en muy poco tiempo. Pero no fue tan rápido y eso se cobró la vida de muchas empresas. Buena parte de la red de fibra óptica quedó inactiva hasta que el streaming y los videojuegos online absorbieron esa capacidad una década después. Con la inteligencia artificial está pasando algo similar, pero de mayor envergadura. Todas las grandes tecnológicas compiten por levantar centros de datos de tamaño descomunal. Descomunal también es su coste, pero se considera bien empleado ya que confían en que los ingresos no tardarán en llegar y serán muy elevados. Por ahora esos ingresos no se han materializado. Los analistas calculan que para rentabilizar las inversiones de los últimos dos años, los consumidores deberán gastar 800.000 millones de dólares en servicios de inteligencia artificial de aquí a 2030. Eso supera la facturación actual de las principales empresas tecnológicas. Esto ha dado lugar a que muchos crean que nos encontramos inmersos en plena burbuja de la inteligencia artificial. Sus defensores arguyen que las tecnológicas generan más liquidez que las de telecomunicaciones en los 90. Además, la inteligencia artificial está disponible de inmediato sin necesidad de cableado previo ni ordenadores especiales. OpenAI presume de tener 700 millones de usuarios semanales y prevé triplicar sus ingresos. Si la inteligencia artificial reemplaza a trabajadores de cuello blanco, el ahorro justificará toda esta inversión. En todas las burbujas de base tecnológica siempre se ha invertido mucho ante una expectativa de ganancias inmediatas que luego no se materializaban. Pero en el largo plazo impulsaron la adopción de nuevas tecnologías y se rentabilizaron esas inversiones mucho después. La inteligencia artificial está ya funcionando y, aunque los ingresos que se obtienen por ella todavía son pequeños, en un futuro no muy lejano podrían llegar a compensar todo lo que se está gastando en ella. Esa es la razón por la que el dinero sigue fluyendo. Los inversores creen que, como con las puntocom, la rentabilidad llegará más tarde. Esto condenará a muchas de estas empresas a quiebra, pero todo lo que innoven quedará para que otras lo aprovechen. Si esta burbuja acelera una tecnología que en 10 o 15 años revoluciona la productividad habrá víctimas, pero valdrá la pena. Si no lo hacen quedará como una carísima curiosidad. Donald Trump anunció este lunes que demandará a la BBC por manipular un discurso suyo en un documental emitido hace más de un año con motivo de las elecciones presidenciales de 2024. En la demanda les pide una indemnización de mil millones de dólares. El documental unía dos fragmentos inconexos del discurso de Trump el 6 de enero de 2021 frente a la Casa Blanca poco antes de los disturbios del Capitolio. La edición daba la falsa impresión de que Trump incitaba abiertamente a la violencia. Tras el anuncio estalló una crisis que se saldó con una disculpa pública del presidente de la empresa, Samir Sha, la dimisión del director General de la BBC, Tim Davie, y la directora de BBC News, Deborah Turness. El detonante fue la filtración al Daily Telegraph de un informe elaborado por Michael Prescott, un asesor de ética contratado por la empresa hace unos meses, en el que alertaba sobre sesgos en la cobertura de ciertas noticias relacionadas con Donald Trump y la guerra de Gaza. Eso bastó para que Trump se hiciese eco de la noticia acusando a la BBC de deshonestidad deliberada. Este no es un incidente aislado. La BBC ha protagonizado muchas polémicas por falta de imparcialidad. El Ofcom, el regulador británico de comunicaciones, se ha quejado varias veces por esta razón. Una por no revelar que el narrador de un documental sobre Gaza era hijo de un líder de Hamás. En otra ocasión, Gary Lineker, un exfutbolista muy famoso, tuvo que ser despedido por unos tuits antisemitas. Las críticas hacia la BBC son, por lo demás, continuas en el parlamento. Acusan a la cadena de tener un sesgo claramente izquierdista y de tomar partido en ciertos asuntos de actualidad. La BBC fue fundada hace más de un siglo y se financia con un canon anual de 175 libras (unos 198 euros) que debe pagar todo aquel que tenga un televisor. Esto para muchos es un impuesto injusto e innecesario en un momento en el que lo que sobra es televisión. Para otros la BBC es un motivo de orgullo nacional, que gracias a su buen hacer se ha convertido en un referente mundial. La propia sociedad británica está muy dividida al respecto. Unos piden que se cierre y otros que disponga de más recursos. El caso reabre la polémica sobre los medios de comunicación de titularidad estatal en plena era digital. Estos medios pudieron tener sentido hace décadas, pero hoy ya son prescindibles, cuestan mucho dinero y hacen la competencia desleal a los operadores privados. Mientras otras cadenas de televisión y emisoras de radio tienen que financiarse con publicidad o mediante suscripciones, la BBC y el resto de televisiones estatales juegan con ventaja ya que se financian con dinero público o cánones obligatorios. No aportan nada en un panorama televisivo saturado en el que los jóvenes ni siquiera ven la televisión. Financiar medios de comunicación públicos de este modo es absurdo cuando sobran opciones. Pero son un juguete muy atractivo para los gobiernos, que disponen así de una herramienta poderosa y bien financiada para apuntalar sus propios discursos. Los directivos de estas empresas obedecen a unos incentivos fácilmente predecibles que siempre pasan por complacer al gobierno. La polémica persistirá porque, a fin de cuentas, en el caso de que la BBC sea condenada, la indemnización saldrá del bolsillo de los contribuyentes. Chile lleva tres meses sumido en campaña electoral de cara a las presidenciales del próximo domingo 16 de noviembre. Ese día se celebrará la primera vuelta, pero todo indica que habrá balotaje porque ninguno de los favoritos consigue superar el 30% de intención de voto en las encuestas. La segunda vuelta, de ser necesaria, está prevista para el 14 de diciembre. Estas elecciones ponen fin al mandato de Gabriel Boric, que en 2021 ganó en segunda vuelta a José Antonio Kast por 10 puntos de diferencia. Aquellos comicios parecían cerrar el ciclo que se abrió con el estallido social de 2019, pero no fue así. Los ecos de aquellas protestas que paralizaron el país durante meses duraron hasta el rechazo del plebiscito constitucional hace dos años, cuando Boric se encontraba ya a mitad de mandato. Eso fue lo que marcó el final de este periodo tan convulso en la historia reciente de Chile. La popularidad de Boric es relativamente baja, pero un tercio de los chilenos aprueban de forma muy entusiasta su gestión. La Constitución de 1980 le impide la reelección inmediata, por lo que busca continuidad en Jeannette Jara, una candidata que hasta abril fue su ministra de trabajo. En Chile el voto es obligatorio desde hace tres años, lo que anticipa una alta participación. La campaña dio comienzo en agosto, ha sido muy intensa y el panorama político se presenta realmente fragmentado. Hay ocho candidatos y cuatro grandes temas de debate: la inseguridad, los problemas económicos, la inmigración y las reformas del gobierno Boric. La inseguridad lidera con mucho las preocupaciones de los chilenos. En torno al 80% considera que el país es inseguro y solo el 39% se siente tranquilo caminando de noche por la calle. Aunque Chile sigue siendo más seguro que la mayor parte de países de Sudamérica, el crimen organizado ha crecido en los últimos años. Todos los candidatos proponen mano dura (cárceles, policía y leyes más duras), un terreno claramente favorable a la derecha. En economía, la inflación del 4% y el desempleo del 8% es también motivo de preocupación junto a las listas de espera hospitalarias, la vivienda y la corrupción, pero el eje central del debate es la delincuencia. Jeannette Jara representa al oficialismo. Lidera las encuestas con un 25-30% de esperanza de voto y ha prometido acabar con el secreto bancario y un ingreso mínimo de 750.000 pesos (unos 700 euros) para familias vulnerables. Tras ella hay otros tres candidatos que podrían pasar a segunda vuelta: Evelyn Matthei, alcaldesa de Providencia y exministra de Sebastián Piñera, de centro derecha, José Antonio Kast, líder del Partido Republicano, de derecha conservadora y el nacional libertario Johannes Kaiser, diputado y hermano del Axel Kaiser, que se estrena como candidato con una receta que recuerda mucho a Javier Milei y a la derecha identitaria europea. A la primera vuelta la izquierda llega formando un bloque tras la candidatura de Jeannette Jara. La derecha, por el contrario, está dividida entre Matthei, Kast y Kaiser. Las encuestas apuntan a una segunda vuelta prácticamente segura. Lo más probable es que Jara pase sin problema. La pregunta es saber si Kast o Kaiser competirán con ella. C dans l'air du 11 novembre 2025 : Menace terroriste : l'ex de Salah Abdeslam incarcérée...À deux jours des commémorations des dix ans des attentats du 13 novembre 2015, l'ex-compagne du terroriste islamiste Salah Abdeslam, Maëva B., est de retour dans la chronique judiciaire. Elle a été doublement mise en examen et incarcérée.Le parquet national antiterroriste a en effet ouvert deux instructions distinctes. La première porte sur une clé USB contenant de la propagande djihadiste. Cette clé aurait été illégalement remise via un parloir à Salah Abdeslam, unique survivant du commando du 13 novembre 2015 et incarcéré à la prison de haute sécurité de Vendin-le-Vieil.La seconde enquête porte sur un projet d'attentat. Dans ce dossier, trois protagonistes dont Maëva B. ont été mis en examen et incarcérés lundi en début de soirée pour association de malfaiteurs terroriste criminelle.Cette actualité judiciaire rappelle que la menace terroriste plane encore sur la France. L'état de cette menace a d'ailleurs évolué de manière inquiétante ces trois dernières années. On observe en effet un spectaculaire rajeunissement des auteurs de projets d'attentat. Le processus de radicalisation est toujours plus rapide et touche des individus toujours plus jeunes, parfois même mineurs. L'année dernière, 20 % des mis en examen pour terrorisme avaient ainsi moins de 18 ans. Ce rajeunissement, constaté depuis 2023, est observé dans les mêmes proportions dans plusieurs pays européens. Cette année, pas moins de 17 mineurs sont déjà mis en examen pour des faits de terrorisme, contre seulement deux ou trois par an il y a encore cinq ans.Cette génération nouvelle, endogène, n'a jamais quitté le territoire français et n'est pas directement en contact avec des organisations terroristes internationales. Elle se nourrit d'une propagande numérique qui transforme parfois un sentiment de mal-être en pulsion de violence. Dans ce phénomène, le rôle des réseaux sociaux, notamment TikTok, Snapchat ou encore Telegram, est pointé du doigt. Ces plateformes agissent en effet comme des accélérateurs. Leurs algorithmes ont tendance à renforcer la visibilité des contenus problématiques ultraviolents et jihadistes.Les Etats-Unis invitent à la Maison-Blanche un ancien djihadiste.
