Episode 277: Life Update, Retreat Reflections, and Spicy Riffs I'm sharing a candid, unscripted update after returning from my coach Amber Lilyestrom's retreat in New Hampshire. I reflect on the spaciousness in my life now that all three of my girls are in school, the paradox of wanting to fill open time, and how my relationship with business has shifted from a destination to a navigational journey. I explore conscious creation, the role of contrast, why AI can't replace human coaching, and ultimately circle back to the question: What do you want your life to be about? In this heartfelt catch-up episode of Fed by the Fruit, host KB opens up about the beautiful ways God is moving in her life during the last week of August. She shares family joys; from son Asher starting his third year at Valor Global Online to precious time in Iowa with baby granddaughter Selah along with the unexpected closure of a long, painful friendship rift and the delightful chaos of welcoming eight Highland cows to the Ballard farm. KB also explains why she said yes to a faith-first wellness partnership with Parga's Core 4 supplements (Core Flow, Core Blue, Core Red, and Core Green), delivers a powerful praise report about Christian marriage counseling and answered prayer, and recommends two must-read books: 18 Days in Heaven by Gabe Poirot and The Joy of the Trinity by Tara-Leigh Cobble. Rooted in Isaiah 43:19 "See, I am doing a new thing" this episode is a warm, honest reminder that God is faithful in the wilderness, the waiting, and the every day. Plus, don't miss details on the Legacy of Her luncheon happening September 24 in Manassas, VA.Reach out to KB on Instagram and share your thoughts.

In this episode, Georgie gets personal - sharing a life update that's been 18 months in the making. Between time in Bali, her wedding in Italy, and working through a SIBO diagnosis, something bigger has been unfolding underneath it all: a slow, sometimes painful evolution away from an old identity and into a new one. Georgie talks candidly about what it feels like to know a shift is coming long before you're ready to make it - and why clinging to the old way isn't a failure, it's part of the process. If you've ever felt yourself outgrowing a version of you that used to feel safe, this one's for you.

"Not everything your body is telling you is a symptom that needs to be fixed. Sometimes it's grief." In this episode, Heather shares a deeply personal reflection on what happens when you outgrow the pain, patterns, and identities that once helped you survive but no longer support where you're going. She explores the uncomfortable process of letting go of old stories, relationships, expectations, and the versions of ourselves we've worked so hard to become. From business lessons and the cost of giving away your own authority to the grief that surfaces when your body finally feels safe enough to release what it has been holding, this episode is an honest exploration of healing, growth, and reinvention. What to listen for: ☑️ The story of "I don't know how to market myself," and how Heather lost her voice ☑️ Why women sabotage themselves through overdoing and taking on too much ☑️ Outsourcing your confidence and intuition, and trusting when things feel off "I've had a vision of making a bigger impact. It hasn't happened. The reason why it hasn't happened is that I went down a rabbit hole believing other people could solve my problem because I believed their words, not their behavior." ☑️ Investing in the people who are actually in the arena, truly doing their own work ☑️ Sticking with things long enough to allow them to start gaining momentum ☑️ If you don't want to do the hard work in business, then get a job "Hiring marketing people for my team and then outsourcing my power and my confidence in them cost me so much fucking money, and it almost killed me." ☑️ Listening to your body when it starts communicating that something isn't right ☑️ The reason why the Universe puts things in front of your face until you're ready to listen ☑️ Why our grief is often about who we were when we were with the ones we lost "When I looked at those panic attacks, I kept thinking, 'What is this?' I truly believe that my body was letting go because it felt safe in the middle of the night. That was when I was at rest, and it was letting go of these old stories." ☑️ Committing to no longer struggling and being done with people who don't show up ☑️ Time under tension triggers disease, which is why it's essential to process your feelings ☑️ When you deeply trust yourself, life challenges start to feel less scary *** For those of you who are ready to stop feeling drained, overextended, and out of alignment… join me inside the Energetic Time Management Accelerator, a focused experience designed to help high-achieving women uncover what's draining them, clarify what truly matters, and create a simple plan that fits their life. Josh records a car update on his way to the office to explain why his podcast/vlog and Substack have slowed down. He shares that he's been busy balancing work as a Canadian immigration lawyer and tech co-founder, parenting his 18-month-old daughter, and navigating recent professional changes. After pivoting into family law about a year and a half ago, he decided it wasn't for him due to the stress, emotional intensity, and feeling like he had to start over, so he returned to immigration law and is adjusting to how the field has changed. He also explains that an AI product for family lawyers was built and launched but ultimately not pursued, and the focus is now back on his immigration platform, Visto, and tech to support his firm. He adds that baby number two is due in December, which is reshaping priorities and reducing time for frequent Substack posts. I'm a 39-year-old from Buford, Georgia. A wife, mother, and servant leader in the aluminium industry, navigating one of the busiest seasons of life while balancing a demanding career, family, and a commitment to living a life rooted in wellness, purpose, and joy. For decades, food was my comfort, and I struggled with metabolic illness and an unhealthy relationship with eating. In October 2019, as I honoured the 10-year anniversary of losing my son, Jacob, I made a decision that forever changed my life. I discovered clean intermittent fasting, and what began as a weight-loss journey became a complete transformation. Since then, I've lost +/- 165 pounds and reached the maintenance phase, but the greatest victory wasn't the number on the scale. I let go of destructive habits, rebuilt my relationship with food, learned to nourish my body through every season of life, and discovered the freedom that comes from focusing on what I can control. My journey became a complete renewal of mind, body, and spirit, replacing shame with confidence and limitations with strength. After living with PCOS and metabolic resistance for more than a decade, intermittent fasting helped me restore metabolic health, reduce inflammation, and finally break free from years of disordered eating and dieting. It didn't just change my body. It gave me my life back. Today, I'm passionate about encouraging others to invest in themselves because self-care isn't selfish; it's essential. In this episode, I share a personal life update, discuss intentionality, navigate inflammation after surgery, master portion control, and explain why intermittent fasting continues to give me my life back. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready for change, I hope my story reminds you that transformation is possible. It starts with one decision, one step, and the courage to believe your best chapter is still ahead. I spent the past month largely recovering from a (successful) double mastectomy—it was very intense, and I also had amazing care, from my team at UCLA, and from my family and friends. I am healing well and my prognosis couldn't be better—I'm very lucky that intervention was early and I am not fighting for my life. I recorded this episode before my surgery—I did this for a number of reasons: to record the process of navigating options, to highlight where the big fear pockets were for me, and also to work through a second diagnosis, that's scary-sounding but also in hand. If you've faced something like this—or are fearful of facing something like this—I hope my thought process is helpful. In last month's episode (“Taking Your Foot Off the Gas”), I talked a bit about needing a sabbatical—and this is why. I appreciate all of you so much—thank you for continuing to listen to Pulling the Thread while I take some time to take care of myself. I'm very grateful for your support. After a couple of months away from the podcast, I'm back behind the mic for a listener Q&A. In this episode, I talk about why I took a break, what I've been up to, and what's next for the podcast. I also answer questions on my return to BJJ, how my training has changed, getting great workouts in when you're short on time, and what parents can do to help maximize their kids' athletic potential without becoming overbearing sports parents. Plus, I share my thoughts on the UFC White House card and a few other topics along the way. Questions on the show: Q1: Hey Kyle, I really miss the podcast. Where have you been? I keep checking my feed, hoping for a new episode. Is the podcast done for good, or are you planning to bring it back? Q2: On one of the last podcast episodes, you mentioned getting back into BJJ. How has that changed the way you're training these days? Have you had to adjust your lifting, conditioning, or recovery? Q3: Hey Kyle, my life is busy right now, and most days I only have about 30 minutes to train. If you were in my shoes, how would you structure those workouts to get the best results possible? Q4: I recently reread your article on Long-Term Athletic Development. I don't want to be one of those over-the-top sports parents, but I do have a 10-year-old son, and I want to help him reach his potential. If you could give one or two pieces of advice to parents, what would they be? Q5: Did you watch the UFC card at the White House? If so, what did you think of the fights?
