I’m Michelle Walters, creator and host of “Talk on to Walk on”. On the 1st of January 2020 (in the months just before the world paused so dramatically) I resigned from a corporate role. I had hit a wall from burn out and anxiety. A pattern that had repeated during my non-stop, rollercoaster 30 year career in business, which included many life changing experiences. Then in March 2020 came the jaw dropping moment when a global lockdown was imposed on us all. Personally for me (but sadly not for all), it meant that I finally had permission to stop. Permission to pause and it was during this year of reflection that I realised that so many of us keep so much buried which can have a real limitation on the life we want to lead. As a result, “Talk on to Walk on” was born. This podcast will be a platform where I can take my many life lessons and turn them into something of value. My inspirational guests, selected from my personal network developed over many years will come from different parts of the world including, of course, my wonderful city of Liverpool. Read more and hear other episodes at www.talkontowalkon.com. You will hear about life their experiences and how conversations with others and with themselves have led to pivotal moments in their life journeys and how they have found the courage and determination to “walk on” to where they are today. Let’s Talk on to Walk on together, and let’s see where it leads…. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Patrick Gaul, in my eyes, is an unsung Liverpool and legal legend. We met 26 years ago on my first nerve wracking day as a trainee solicitor with leading Liverpool law firm Weightmans. Paddy, as he is known by many, was my first “boss” and instead of the anticipated query about my legal knowledge he immediately asked if I was a Red or Blue. As a raving Liverpool fan meeting an Evertonian it was test I immediately failed but one that began our bond and cemented our love of chat and banter for the years to come. Patrick was not only a great lawyer but as its Managing Partner from 2003 to 2013 he led Weightmans to becoming a leading national law firm securing its future and legacy for years to come. Now retired from the legal world we not only chat about how conversations and the power of words have impacted his life and career but his passion for all things Ireland including his 20 year mission to help secure the future of Liverpool's Irish Centre for current and future generations. Let's talk on to walk on with Patrick Gaul and let's see where it leads. Danielle McDermott is a wonderful example of how the toughest of experiences can be turned into the best of experiences when looking through the eyes of positivity. As she was emerging from a number of years suffering with depression Danielle will never forget the 1st day of November 2018 when she found a small lump in her breast. While she says in her wonderfully titled book “Bald, Brave and Bloody Beautiful” that nothing will ever prepare a woman for a diagnosis of breast cancer, the Danielle you will hear from today is one who has emerged from her experience like a phoenix ready to take on the world. There's a famous quote that her consultant mentions when he talks about Danielle in her book “Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain”. So let's hear from Danielle and get to know how and why this very special woman is determined to walk on into a new life as she re-writes her story. I want my power of conversation message to reach people of all ages but accept young adults may not rush to listen to my podcast; one way to reach them is to celebrate, connect and have conversations with those of the younger generation who are doing great things. As the founder of Talk Twenties, Gaby Mendes is doing just that. Her podcast has over 20,000 listeners and a British podcast awards nomination and Talk Twenties is now Gaby's full-time business bridging the gap between full time education and the daunting world of adult life. Talk Twenties was born out Gaby's own experiences and struggles to adjust to adult life after graduating from university. We all remember the hurdles and hiccups of our 20's, a time of tremendous adapting and life learning. Wouldn't it be great if, young and older adults all worked on understanding each other better by having meaningful conversations around this topic. This podcast is an example of how we can make that happen… Web: www.talktwenties.com Instagram @iamgabymendes Web: www.talkontowalkon.com All Talk on to Walk on podcast and social links www.linktr.ee/michellewalters_ See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
