When Kevin Griffiths was diagnosed with bowel cancer at just 44 years old, his world changed overnight. Since then, he's endured multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and an incurable stage IV diagnosis. Yet six years later, Kevin continues to prove that a terminal diagnosis doesn't have to mean the end of living. In this inspiring conversation, Kevin shares how cancer transformed his priorities, deepened his appreciation for everyday moments, and inspired him to create Cancer My Arse, a fundraising movement that's helping support cancer charities while encouraging others to keep living life to the fullest.Together, Melissa and Kevin discuss the importance of hope, why positivity isn't the same as toxic positivity, and how advances in treatment are changing what it means to live with stage IV cancer. Kevin also opens up about protecting his mental health, setting boundaries, and finding purpose through helping others. In this episode:Kevin's unexpected bowel cancer diagnosis at age 44The symptom that led him to seek medical attentionWhat it's really like living with stage IV cancerWhy "terminal" doesn't mean life stopsFinding the balance between realism and hopeThe difference between positivity and toxic positivityNavigating chemotherapy and difficult treatment decisionsLearning to appreciate the ordinary moments in lifeWhy setting emotional boundaries matters during cancerHow Cancer My Arse is helping fund cancer research and patient supportWhy none of us are guaranteed tomorrow—and why that's a reason to fully embrace todayResources:Kevin's Website: https://cancermyarse.co.ukKevin's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cancermyarse/Kevin's Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61566560542684Kevin's LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kpgriffiths/Follow:Follow me: https://www.instagram.com/melissagrosboll/My website: https://melissagrosboll.comEmail me: drmelissagrosboll@gmail.com

Branden Hudson hosts Pastor Richard Pope of Canvas Church, his jujitsu student and Hudson's new pastor, discussing Pope's vision to measure church success by “sending capacity” through church planting rather than attendance. Pope explains launching Canvas during COVID, restoring marriages, helping people find purpose, and starting five autonomous churches in five years with a sixth planned in Princess Anne. He shares how his traumatic childhood, including family drug abuse, abuse, and sexual assault, shaped his commitment to serving the homeless, addicts, and marginalized with dignity, and why he speaks openly to help others disclose similar experiences. Hudson asks about setting boundaries with panhandling, and Pope suggests learning names and giving practical items. They also discuss rage toward child predators, justice versus vigilante vengeance, masculinity in church culture, and trusting God amid evil. Pope describes beating cancer twice and living with shrinking “terminal” cancer while fearing primarily for his wife, not his mission.00:00 Welcome and Support01:02 Meet Pastor Pope03:00 Church Growth Vision04:11 Planting During COVID08:39 Serving the Marginalized14:22 Helping Without Enabling19:45 Pastor Pope Origin Story20:34 Finding Strength to Share24:13 Anger and Forgiveness27:23 Rage and Hatred28:17 Godly Desire to Protect29:00 Suffering and Faith30:52 Image of God and Sin32:12 Vengeance and Vigilantes36:27 Defense vs Revenge38:45 Love Without Affirmation41:30 Men and Heroic Courage43:29 Romans 8 28 Hope45:17 Cancer and Mortality49:21 Gratitude and Farewell

Jill's story is deeply moving, and the way it weaves together with the themes of Barefoot Enlightenment is beautiful. Draft Description: In this episode of Earth Tribe Radio, Fiona shares the heart behind Barefoot Enlightenment — why she wrote it, and how spirituality has become so complicated that we've forgotten the simplest truth: who we already are. She and Jill explore the ancient power of sound — the drum as the heartbeat of the earth, the flute, the rattle — and how these simple instruments can wake us up to the gifts and abilities we didn't even know we had. Because the earth's rhythm is already within us. We just need something to call us home. Jill also shares her own profound journey. After ten years of living with cancer — now spread to her bones and entering a new chapter of radiation — she speaks not from a place of collapse, but of quiet radiance. She has moved into what she calls "the quality of life stage," and what has emerged is startling: she is happier than she has been in a long time. She talks about practicing having no preferences, about finding something each day that made her laugh, about the gifts of her animals and the wildlife around her. She can no longer travel the world as she once did — so now she travels within. And even as anger and pain exist all around her, she meets each person she encounters with one intention: kindness. This is a conversation about what it means to stop covering up who you really are — and let the drum, the rattle, and the quiet courage of living fully bring you back. www.earthtriberadio.comwww.barefootenlightenment.com

Since 2000, the rate of new cancer diagnoses for people ages 15 to 49 has climbed by 10 percent. This year, more than 200,000 people in that age group will be newly diagnosed with cancer. They will join more than 2.1 million Americans who were also diagnosed as young adults and are living with the disease. In today's episode, Post video journalist Drea Cornejo sits down with host Elahe Izadi to talk about how Drea's own cancer diagnosis three years ago, when she was 26, motivated her to report on the realities facing more younger adults. Drea documented the lives of Tanner and Shay Martin over the past six months as they navigated Tanner's terminal colon cancer diagnosis with big life decisions including starting a family. While most young adults survive their cancer diagnosis, they still face the potential of a greatly altered future with implications for relationships, careers, finances and family planning. You can watch The Post's short documentary about Tanner and Shay here. Be sure to also check out the comic about Drea's diagnosis here. Today's show was produced by Elana Gordon.
