    #23 - Here's to 2021

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 1, 2021 4:03

Here's the truth. Today, is just another day. It's a Friday just like last Friday where the sun will set & the moon will rise. I have no problem with the imaginary blank page we all create when a new year turns. If that helps motivate you to take action or improve yourself in some way then without question, its a good thing. However (much like me) your goals don't really care which point of the year you find yourself in, that's just your psychology, what really matters are the steps you plan to follow and the action you're willing to take to bring those plans to reality. No amount of 'wanting to lose weight' will reduce that belly fat. No amount of 'wanting a great business' will make it so. Controlling your calories, exercising more, prospecting, building brand [insert action related to goal here] *combined with consistency* will bring your goals in to reality. Nothing else. So, as you ponder your future today I urge you to:

In today's episode I was joined by a fantastic guest that (if you work in the property space you are sure to have heard of), that guest is Adam Day. Adam is considered to be a thought leader and a true pioneer in the space having spear headed the growth on the board of many well known brands. Adam more recently took on a demanding role as the expansion leader for eXp UK, so of course I've had the pleasure of working with Adam on a fairly intimate level for the last year. Adam is inspiring, ambitious and incredibly forward thinking. Today's episode explores his story...

I was playing football with my son earlier today, and we were practicing passing. Hitting the ball with a degree of accuracy over a short distance. With the skill un mastered, Benji wanted to know how to do overhead kicks. How to hit 'top bag'. How to curve the ball like Ronaldo. Are there comparables between my sons desire to play for Barcelona, and your journey in business?

Myself & Chris have been within each others network for quite some time. Years. Originally through LinkedIn, and more recently via Instagram. Our relationship has been built from simply supporting each others content, and sharing feedback. A relationship that I knew would result in an amazing episode for the podcast, despite having never met Chris (or speaking on the phone before todays recording). Thankfully I wasn't wrong. This is the power of social media, essentially through content marketing we have established a relationship, something everybody listening should be looking to achieve consistently with their customers. As you would expect, we explore all things content, social media, marketing & business. A fascinating chat, that I hope you enjoy being party to. Jay is a veteran in the Estate Agency world having worked in both the high street model & the hybrid model, as well as gaining extensive experience as a self employed agent in his local town. Jason now works as an Area Manager for #proptech firm, Mio. This podcast came around fairly organically after I reached out to Jason to learn more about the Mio services. However, me and Jay go way back and met years before either of us ever started our careers in property so knowing how well we get on, I figured saving the conversation for a podcast would offer more value for all involved. We talk all things business, mindset, fitness, employed vs self employed (& Jays experiences) as well as the Mio services. Whatever your sector I'm confident this ep will be a good listen, but of course, if you are an Estate Agency owner this is a brilliant opportunity for you to get intimately more familiar with the prop tech start up that's making huge waves in our world

It feels as though there aren't enough hours in the day, and when the end of the day comes (although we've been busy) we've actually got nothing constructive done in terms of moving our business forward. In this episode, we explore the differences in being busy vs being productive, and take a wider view of how we can manage our time, ourselves and our business better to make tangible progress toward the end goal.

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 4, 2020 12:49

Earlier in this series we explored the importance of consistency and producing enough quantity of content to be front of mind with your chosen markets. However, you must give consideration to the quality of the content you produce. I always think when it comes to thinking up content ideas, we can often get paralysis by analysis and take no action SO... Where can you get that seed inspiration to form a solid basis on which you can build content from? In this walk and talk soundbite, we explore exactly that.

Content is something we've spoken a lot on recently, and with good reason. The content produced by any brand, business or individual can have an immediate and lasting impact on how they are perceived by the market. Content marketing allows a brand the opportunity to establish/solidify relationships with their market, build trust equity, build authority & drive sales. However, what should you be posting and how frequently? In this episode, Ben explores the importance of quality vs quantitiy - which is most important?

Jerry is an ex journalist turned content creator, now exclusively serving the world of Estate Agency. That's right, an ex journalist and an estate agent on the same podcast – thankfully there was no traffic warden present, but don't let that deter you from tuning in for the duration as today's episode was absolutely stacked with value, actionable points and food for thought from start to finish. In my humble opinion carefully thought out content delivered with consistency is a powerful medium for any brand or business in any sector to strengthen relationships with their market and to earn the trust of their customers. I would argue that moving into 2020, engaging, relevant and informative content has never been more important when establishing a strong & authoritative digital footprint for your business Drawing on his years of experience in journalism Jerry became involved in Estate Agency back in 2010 but with his wife Wendy, established the Estate Agents Content Club last year. The business offers a membership subscription service exclusively to one agent in each postcode for those who want to deliver content to their markets with both quality and consistency to win more instructions. In the early stages of 2020 Jerry & his wife introduced the ‘Karma Club', a play on words from the namesake of the business where the couple pledge to donate a percentage of their income, generated from the membership fees of their partner agents, to charities and worthwhile causes the world over. In January they successfully raised funds for a girls football team, and moving into February will be contributing funds toward helping the fight against the bushfires in Australia. Content, podcasts and business to one side  - I have to say that it was nothing but an honour to sit down and chat to Jerry on todays show. A genuinely warm, friendly, humble man who lead with value from the word ‘welcome'. I hope you enjoy listening to todays show as much as I enjoyed recording it. On today's episode of The One With The Podcast, we are joined by Paul Travers - The Irresistible Lister. Paul is a super talented and experienced ex Estate Agent who has been successfully selling homes for decades. Based predominantly in boroughs of London, Paul has repeatedly reversed the fortunes of countless branches in his time – transforming them from under performing, financially crippled offices in to thriving businesses fighting for the top spot in their territories. Paul has worked operationally in almost every position the industry has to offer, even launching his own successful brand, NEW LONDON - providing a niche estate agency service for the new build sector before the financial crash. Following his time as an operational estate agent, Paul carved a career for himself as a copy writer and quickly gained a solid reputation for producing captivating and engaging content. Realising the key role content has to play in bridging the gap between brand and consumer, Paul now extends his services to the modern day estate agent who lacks the time, experience or consistency to publish reliable, relevant and effective content frequently enough to impact on their market. Through Pauls services, he aims to transform your blog from an under-utilised & uninspiring section of your website into a listing magnet whilst building authority and relationships within your local market. In Pauls words – it's easier to do good business, when you're the favorite. Paul is a truly seasoned professional in the property world, and has been selling houses for longer than I have been on the planet. From my side, it was a real privilege to sit down with Paul for the length of time that I did to learn more about his views on how the industry has changed in years gone by, and crucially where he sees things going in the years to come. Paul is now based in BUCAREST not BUDAPEST as you will discover in the opening 30 seconds of todays episode, so the audio was captured via a Zoom call. The internet did let us down occasionally, so in places of todays episode the audio will be a little broken. I do apologise, but please bare with us through the buffering process and soak up all of the golden nuggets you can by reflecting on ones man story that spans across three decades.
