Bush Institute. In this role, he manages the Stand-To Veteran Leadership Program, which focuses on developing the leadership skills of veterans and those who serve them and their families. Bailey also supports alumni engagement efforts for the Institute's international leadership programs.Prior to joining the George W. Bush Institute, Bailey provided operations, media, and communications support to The American Choral Directors Association, a music organization dedicated to the excellence and advancement of choral music.Bailey is a native of Arlington, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Music (Voice) from The University of Oklahoma, and he holds a Master of Business Administration with concentrations in finance and real estate from Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business. We talk about what happens when there is conflict between patients' interests or wellbeing and physicians' self-interest. In this solo podcast, I address the broader argument against aversive tools in dog training promoted by the AVSAB and the R+-only movement.Recently, Dr. Michael Bailey, President of the American Veterinary Medical Association, commented on the use of electronic collars in dog training. That comment triggered backlash and a strong response from Dr. Lisa Radosta, President of the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists.But this presentation is not about personalities.It's about the claim that aversives never have a place in dog training.Using peer-reviewed research, learning theory, and real-world outcomes, I examine whether the “no aversives ever” position is actually supported by evidence and what happens to dogs when ideology overrides results.At the end, I invite you, the trainers and owners, to share stories of dogs who are alive today because balanced training worked when nothing else did.Outcomes matter.

Of key interest to this research is how kinship intensity can alter the intensity of different forms of evolutionary conflicts such as sexual, parent-offspring, and sibling-sibling conflict. Her work is interdisciplinary in nature, drawing from global health, genetics, evolutionary biology, and anthropology. In this episode, we talk about violence against women across human societies. We start by discussing how prevalent it is, and the different types of violence against women, including intimate-partner, sexual, and honor-based violence. Episode 5 - March 1987 Original Release Date - June 9, 2009 Original Show Notes This week your hosts, Michael Bailey and Jeffrey Taylor, examine the books that came out with the cover date of March 1987 and is the first post-Crisis crossover, both in terms of the books crossing over with each other and in terms of crossing into a major DC event.  Superman #3, Adventures of Superman #426 and Action Comics #586 were all chapters of the Legends crossover that DC published in late 1986/early 1987.  Jeff and Mike discuss Legends as a mini-series before going into the issues themselves with a little more Legends talk right there at the end.  This episode clocks in at about an hour and eighteen minutes, which is a tad longer than normal but the extra space is worth it.  At least the guys think so, but what do they know?

He studies the ecology and evolution of parasites and their hosts, and is interested in co-infections of different parasite species, self-medication in hosts, and local coevolution of hosts and parasites. One of his main interests is the evolution of parasite virulence (i.e. parasite-induced reductions of host fitness). He is the author of Doctors by Nature: How Ants, Apes, and Other Animals Heal Themselves. In this episode, we focus on Doctors by Nature. We talk about four different ways that animals use natural products to fight infections and alleviate disease: prophylaxis; therapeutic medication; body anointing; and fumigation. We discuss whether animals know that they are medicating themselves, and whether these behaviors are learned or innate. We go through examples of monarch butterflies, apes that swallow leaves to dislodge worms, how bees combat pathogens, social distancing, nausea and neophobia, and why dogs eat grass. We discuss when humans started using medication, and how we can benefit from studying the medicating behaviors of animals.
