The Official Waiting For Next Year Podcast is a must-listen for any Cleveland sports fan. As someone who listens to a lot of podcasts, I have never felt compelled to write a review before, but this podcast has truly captured my attention. The first Friday fumble episode of the 2019 season stands out as one of the best sports podcast episodes I have ever heard. The hosts put a lot of work into it, including insider bits that only long-standing Browns fans would understand. It was hilarious and I found myself sending it to all my fellow Browns fans in Northeast Ohio. The Dery Brothers Tribecast is also fantastic, reminding me of the conversations I have with my own brother about the Tribe. Overall, this podcast provides great analysis from true fans who love the game and support the team regardless of wins or losses.
The best aspect of this podcast is its ability to not take itself too seriously while still providing insightful commentary. The hosts, such as Craig Lyndall and Scott Sargent, have a way of discussing Cleveland sports with nuance and interesting perspectives. They cover topics ranging from Browns, Cavs, and Indians to MMA and local musicians or radio personalities. This diverse range keeps the discussions engaging and allows guests to speak their minds without interference.
However, there are some downsides to this podcast. One minor annoyance is the occasional background music playing over certain segments, which can be distracting. Additionally, there are times when the podcast's focus on pessimistic viewpoints can become tiresome for listeners seeking more uplifting content. While it may cater to those who appreciate common sense opinions rather than fabricated controversies for ratings, it can sometimes contribute to an overall negative tone.
In conclusion, The Official Waiting For Next Year Podcast is a well-done podcast that provides valuable insights for Cleveland sports fans. It aims to capture the spirit of long-suffering CLE fans while offering unique perspectives on hometown teams' dysfunction—especially when it comes to the Browns. The constant stream of new content and the passionate, dedicated hosts make this podcast a standout in the Cleveland sports scene. Whether you're looking for analysis, humor, or just a way to stay connected to Cleveland sports while on the go, this podcast is definitely worth a listen.
