After a big opening night win in Portland the Sacramento Kings lost both games this past weekend. On Friday the Utah Jazz were too good down the stretch and last night the Golden State Warriors put 119 on the board. In both losses DeAaron Fox was ineffective shooting the ball. Bottom line is the Kings are paying him a ton of money to be elite. He needs to be a lot better and soon if the Kings are to be competitive this season.

In today's episode, Locke opens about the matchup with the Sacramento Kings. The Kings were the #1 team in transition last year so this is a big test for the Jazz. Then Locke takes Friday questions from the live audience and the discussion is largely about how Bojan Bogdanovic can have a really big year and what we are asking from Hassan Whiteside. David Locke, radio voice of the Utah Jazz and Jazz NBA Insider, brings you the daily podcast on the Utah Jazz, Locked On Jazz. Now live on You Tube for every episode. In today's episode, Locke breaks down the consistency in the defensive effort from the Utah Jazz last night as they handled the undermanned Oklahonma City Thunder. Each quarter the Jazz defense was dominant showing consistent effort throughout the night. The Utah Jazz offense wasn't on as they missed a ton of shots, but the different flurries at different times from players carried the Jazz through the night. It started with Rudy Gobert and Jordan Clarkson and by the time the night was over Donovan Mitchell and Bojan Bogdanovic had joined the party. A nice coaching move got Donovan Mitchell going in the third quarter. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

The Utah Jazz behind Jordan Clarkson and Rudy Gobert played dominant basketball against the Oklahoma City Thunder with an easy 107 - 86 victory. The Jazz looked dominant and ready to roll through the season in a big way. Donovan Mitchell had a strong second half and showed that he's still growing as a player. In the first half he deferred to the other playmakers on the floor and it allowed Rudy Gobert and Mike Conley to do work. Speaking of Gobert, he was a monster with 21 rebounds and 16 points. Jordan Clarkson looks like he meshes well with Hassan Whiteside in that Whiteside's style allows Clarkson to go to work in isolation. It's something to watch but it looks like a nice fit so far. In this episode, I speak with one of my very close friends, Damon Burton. Damon is a Forbes contributor and an Amazon best-selling SEO book author that helps you show up higher on Google… without paying for ads. His clients include the Utah Jazz's Team Store and businesses featured on Shark Tank and recognized by Inc. Damon and I connected and this fascinating way, not only because we're entrepreneurs but because we have this fascination with trying to create change in our life. It's very much about living life on your terms and having what you want to have. Damon is a person in my life that I see embodied. I talk about the site about mentorship and coaching and things like that, but I look at Damon even though he's not directly my mentor, but I love the way that this person is creating the life that he wants to have, and that becomes a point of measurement for me. I'm always looking towards other people, not because of any other reason than I believe. As a communal species, if we look at people who are simply one step ahead of where we want to go, we can also start to formulate and create the pathway. I want to share one of the insights that I took away from my conversation with Damon. You can probably relate to this; we have this drive to make things better for other people. I look at his story, his life, what he's come from. No matter what we come from, our experience, our zip code, our family structure, any of those things, if we stay focused, remove distractions, create a north star, make this goal and move towards every single day, on a long enough timeline, it can come to fruition. David Locke, radio voice of the Utah Jazz and Jazz NBA Insider, brings you the daily podcast on the Utah Jazz, Locked On Jazz. Now live on You Tube for every episode. In today's episode Locke starts the show with a quote from Quin Snyder about why he is getting buy in from his veterans and why the team is so focussed. Locke then takes a look at Mike Conley and Jarod Butler and how their seasons are intertwinned. Conley has been a standout in camp after an off-season of changing habits and is thriving at an older age. Butler is the young gun and his play may relieve the burden on Mike Conley. Kevin O'Conner of the Ringer wrote a great piece on Rudy Gobert and his journey. Dante Exum and Jabari Parker were released and it turns out the one season the Utah Jazz were built to lose was for one of the worst draft classes of all time.
