Send us a textFirst, I want to thank our former guest, Greg Offner, for making today's episode possible!!! Let's get to today's episode.....So....What does it mean to truly honor your family name while encouraging each child's unique identity? This question lies at the heart of my conversation with Jason Hewlett, whose journey from Las Vegas impersonator to corporate speaker offers surprising insights into authentic fatherhood. As a Hall of Fame speaker, he values the way to become a Hall of Fame dad instead.Jason's approach to raising his four remarkably diverse children reveals a masterclass in balancing values with freedom. His daughter Ella traveled solo across Italy, New Zealand, and Australia as a teenage au pair. His son Redford graduated as student body president with academic honors. Romney pivoted from basketball to bodybuilding when competition grew fierce. And thirteen-year-old Royal shows natural talent across multiple domains. Each child embodies the Hewlett name differently, yet powerfully. The secret? Jason's "ICM Process" - Identify, Clarify, and Magnify - helps family members discover their unique "signature moves." Rather than projecting expectations, he creates space for authentic growth. When his sons cut bowl-shaped haircuts for their yearbook photos (which subsequently went viral), Jason celebrated their creativity instead of squashing it. This pattern of encouragement traces back to his own childhood, when his parents supported his Dennis Rodman impersonations at Utah Jazz games despite the raised eyebrows. Most powerful was Jason's vulnerable sharing about reconciling with his father after years of estrangement. Their relationship healed through a shared mission developing a heart supplement that saved his father's life, demonstrating how parental relationships can transform at any stage. They know are in business together with a powerful new supplement drink called, "Cardio Miracle."Whether you're struggling to connect with your children's interests or seeking to balance family identity with individual expression, Jason's wisdom offers a roadmap for creating what he beautifully describes as "an eternal family." Listen now and discover how to honor your name while lighting unique paths for each family member. Please don't forget to leave us a review wherever you consume your podcasts! Please help us get more dads to listen weekly and become the ultimate leader of their homes!

Arguably the most annoying team in the NBA last year, the Utah Jazz dumped their veterans and should be at least a fraction less obnoxious this year. I've spent the last 10 years working as a data analyst, data scientist, and data engineer for some pretty cool companies like ExxonMobil, MIT, the Utah Jazz, and others. My students now work at Apple, Amazon, Rivian, Tesla, and other cool companies.Let me share the 13 things I wish I knew when I was getting started.
Summer League is basically the NBA Finals when you're a rebuilding team, and it's no different for the Utah Jazz! The Jazz brought a truckload of young talent to NBA Summer League this year, and Mark Pereira (@markrussellpereira.bsky.social) breaks down everything we saw from [deep breath] Ace Bailey, Walt Clayton Jr., Cody Williams, Kyle Filipowski, Isaiah Collier, Brice Sensabaugh, John Tonje, and Elijah Harkless. Then, Mark gives Jordan Clarkson his due with some reminiscing of some of Clarkson's greatest hits and vibes as JC starts his next chapter in New York.

This is a rebroadcast. The episode originally ran in September 2019. Frank Layden was a beloved basketball coach and executive best known for his time with the Utah Jazz. While he achieved tremendous professional success—earning NBA Coach of the Year, Executive of the Year, and the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award all in 1984—it was his warmth, humor, and larger-than-life personality that truly defined him. Known for his self-deprecating wit and quick one-liners, Layden brought levity to the game and was deeply respected by players, colleagues, and fans alike. Beyond basketball, Layden was cherished for his kindness, community involvement, and ability to connect with people on a personal level. He had a gift for making others feel valued, often using laughter to lift those around him. Even in retirement, he remained a vibrant part of the Salt Lake City community. Frank Layden passed away on July 9, 2025, at the age of 93, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and compassion. RUNDOWN Music history in honor of Tommy Mottola's July 14 birthday—Mitch details how Mottola signed Hall & Oates and running through each of their six No. 1 hits. The “audio clip of the week” spotlights former Cubs manager Lee Elia's legendary profanity-laden tirade at Wrigley Field after a 5–14 start in 1983. Mitch and Hotshot celebrate Seattle's sweep of first-place Detroit and reviewing the Mariners' 51–45 first-half record, good enough for a wild-card spot if the season ended today. Mitch explains why he's optimistic—his rotation is poised to string together quality starts, and an offense buoyed by hot streaks from Randy Arozarena, strong on-base work from JP Crawford, and newfound production from lower-order hitters means the club doesn't need Cal Raleigh to carry the load alone. Mariners bounce back from a blown five-run lead and near no-hitter loss in New York to sweep the AL's best Tigers, cementing a wild-card spot at the All-Star break. Mariners No-Table (Brady Farkas) unpack the unexpected selection of LSU lefty Cade Anderson (saved under slot, with a high floor) as a near-MLB-ready arm, dissect Julio Rodríguez's decision to skip the ASG before homering in each Detroit game, and express outrage that Gino Suárez (31 HRs) wasn't invited to the Home Run Derby. Mitch and Puck chat KJRn'ts Chapter 8 by commiserating over their sudden need for reading glasses and sharing a wild family dare in which Mitch finally ate an entire bowl of mushrooms after his son aced the SAT. They then catch up on life—Jason's youth baseball woes, Mitch's freshman at Arizona—and take playful shots at Jim Moore's “top sports radio hosts” rankings. In this throwback to Ep. 197 (July 5, 2022), Mitch sits down with Rhonda Smith Banchero to revisit her own collegiate battles—most memorably guarding Cheryl Swoopes—and to explore how her “tough-love” coaching shaped Paolo's rise to the No. 1 NBA draft pick. Rhonda shares the moment she bowed out of one-on-one after seventh grade, her deliberate accountability style at home, and the family's bittersweet pride as Paolo chose Duke over UW. Now that he's secured a record-setting $239 million extension, her insights on nurturing a champion feel more poignant than ever. From the news that Michael Jordan's Highland Park estate is now an Airbnb (no parties allowed) to celebrity-boxing matchups, LeBron's Beverly Hills compound, Wimbledon winners, and even the exit of Pearl Jam's longtime drummer Matt Cameron, Mitch and Hotshot pack a whirlwind of sports and pop-culture headlines into one rapid-fire segment.
