And One: le podcast NBA de The Free Agent

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 10, 2026 71:05

Mots-clés : Orlando Magic, GM NBA, construction équipe NBA, salary cap NBA, CBA NBA, trade NBA, free agency NBA, roster NBA, Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, stratégie NBA, rebuild NBA, contender NBA, podcast NBA français, analyse NBA, front office NBA, gestion franchise NBA, And One podcast.Canal officiel du podcast :https://chat.whatsapp.com/IMY6WgV2UK9FFTWg6fjfDH?mode=gi_tMusiques et jingles : Pixabay (auteur prettyjohn1)Hébergé par Ausha. 0:00 ... Ross hello, welcome, and introduces the panel 0:32 ... Show #260 is dedicated to Hall of Famer Michael Cooper who was drafted with the #60 overall pick in the 1978 NBA Draft. 1:24 ... LeBron James is now a member of the 76ers and World B feels the upcoming season will feature a wide open and competitive eastern conference.   There are 11 legit playoff contenders for just 8 spots. 3:44 ... Bruce feels like LeBron made the move to Philly in a desperate attempt to win 2 more rings and tie Michael Jordan with 6 championships and convince people that HE, not MJ is the GOAT.   Bruce feels that Sixers games will be "Must Watch" TV. 5:24 ... Depth and health could be issues for Philly.  Ross also feels that many more coaches will be on the hot seat with so many solid teams competing for just 8 playoff spots. 6:22 ... Bruce feels that the Jalen Duren contract impasse in Detroit could have a lingering effect that might affect the morale of the team if Duren's teammates feel he is being mistreated by Pistons management. 7:22 ... What's the deal with the Orlando Magic?  Is their window closed as far as being elite in the east?  They still have talent, but their offense is still sub-standard.  Bruce feels that the team will be in the mix for the Play In tournament but he does not have a great feeling about this team. 12:31 ... Jalen Brown is no longer a Celtic, so who is going to step up?  From a leadership standpoint, it has to be Jayson Tatum, but others like Derrick White, Hugo Gonzalez, and Baylor Scheierman need to all have solid seasons for Boston to challenge for the top 6 in the east. 14:43 ... World B agrees with Bruce that Derrick White needs to step up. 15:57 ... Ross asks Bruce if Tatum is capable of being a "fiery" leader and Bruce doesn't really know if Jayson is capable of adjusting his personality and mindset from his "too cool" exterior to someone who shows more emotion. 17:45 ... Atlanta has added Lu Dort and Ross wonders if Dort can bring the type of toughness to the Hawks that a guy like Dillon Brooks brought to the Suns?   World B loves Dort's perimeter defense and his presence gives the Hawks much better depth.  World B also feels Jalen Johnson has to continue his progress for the Hawks to excel.  Bruce thinks Dort is exactly the type of gritty veteran Atlanta needs and their fans will love.  Ross loves the move and thinks Dort's physicality will really improve the Hawks' defense. 22:17 ... The Portland Trailblazers have a new owner (Tom Dundon) and he has made some really unsettling moves since taking over the franchise.  There are rumors that the Blazers, who are battling with local Portland politicians over arena funding and other financial issues could end up leaving the city.   That would be devastating to the city of Portland and would give the city a real black eye. 24:14 ... Ross is very angry about the way that Dundon has treated their broadcasters like Kevin Calabro and Tom Haberstroh because he watched a lot of Blazers games and really enjoyed their telecasts. 25:32 ... World B feels Dundon has been an embarassment and cites the bad contract he gave new head coach Micah Nori as a really poor way to treat their new coach. 27:37 ... Bruce feels for the Portland fans, who are among the best in the NBA and since the Blazers are Portland's only major league team, their fans would be devastated if the team flatlines and eventually leaves town. 29:05 ... If you were a fan, would you rather be a Warriors or Clippers fan?  Bruce would rather be a 'Dubs fan but Ross and World B would rather be Clippers fans.  Everyone explains why they feel the way they do.  LA owner Steve Ballmer is the main reason that Ross and World B prefer the Clippers. 33:09 ... Will DeAaron Fox be on the Spurs the entire season?  Bruce feels he will because of his contract, which calls for him to be paid more than $222 million over the next 4 seasons.  It's such a bad contract that it's hard to see any team taking it on. 37:04 ... It's time for the always enjoyable "Card Challenge" segment where Ross picks random cards and asks Bruce and World B to react to the players spontaneously to prove their knowledge.  Jalen Duren of the Pistons is first for World B. 38:19 ... Next up is Klay Thompson of the Mavericks for Bruce 39:25 ... Kyrie Irving of Dallas is next for World B. 40:20 ... Tyler Herro for Bruce 40:57 ... Carmelo Anthony for World B. 42:29 ... Bruce Bowen for Bruce .... they'll be together on Wednesday at the Basketball Hall of Fame for a "HoopHall hangout" session with the fans. 44:17 ... Ross wraps the show and says goodbye TRT 44:30                 Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Bulls Keeping A Roster Spot Open?! Mathurin Smoke, Paolo Dream Swing & 2027 Big-Game Plan

Are the Chicago Bulls done making moves, or is Bryson Graham keeping one chair open for a reason? On today's Chicago Bulls Central, Haize breaks down why the Bulls may enter the regular season with their 15th full-time roster spot open. After days of smoke around Bennedict Mathurin, including reported interest from Chicago and praise from the Bulls' coaching staff, local reporting has suggested that the interest may be overstated. That does not completely kill the possibility, but it does make the Bulls' bigger priority clear: flexibility.Haize explains why keeping the final roster spot open may line up with Bryson Graham's front-office philosophy. Instead of rushing into a restricted free-agent sign-and-trade or adding a veteran just to fill the bench, Chicago could preserve flexibility to help facilitate trades, take on salary, or collect future draft capital if the right opportunity appears. Then the conversation gets bigger: Should the Bulls be watching the Orlando Magic and a potential second-apron crunch involving Paolo Banchero? If Orlando ever reaches a point where Banchero becomes available, should Chicago be aggressive even if the fit with Matas Buzelis and Caleb Wilson is imperfect?Plus, Haize looks ahead to 2027 free agency and why the 2026–27 season may be an evaluation year that determines whether the Bulls eventually pursue a player like Mathurin, Peyton Watson, or Jalen Duren.

EPISODE SUMMARY AND KEY TAKEAWAYSTen years in the NBA. Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls, Brooklyn Nets, Indiana Pacers, Orlando Magic. Games overseas in Italy, Greece, Turkey. And when it was all over, CJ Watson sat on his couch and asked himself one question: how do I keep giving back? That question became children's books. A foundation. Free basketball camps. A Black history essay contest with laptops and 529 plans as prizes. And now, a conversation with Bart about what it actually means to be a great human being, not just a great athlete.CJ grew up in Las Vegas with Southern hospitality baked into his bones. Yes sir. No ma'am. Look people in the eye. Give them your name and ask for theirs. He never got drafted, went overseas first, and spent every NBA season knowing it could be his last. That perspective shaped everything. He never saw himself as a celebrity. He saw himself as someone who got lucky enough to do the work.Bart and CJ unpack humanality through the lens of sports, autographs, fatherhood, and the moment a kid at a camp says "we love the book." They talk about what it means to be present, why consistency beats talent most of the time, and how a pair of unwashed orange socks from the University of Tennessee became a lesson about preparation over superstition. This one is warm, grounded, and full of the kind of humanity that makes the MPD audience forward episodes to people they love. What You Will Walk Away WithConsistency beats talent. Every time. CJ's fill-in-the-blank answer came fast: most people don't be consistent. Show up on good days and bad days. Do the work when no one is watching. That is what separates the people who make it from the people who almost did.Humanality on the court. When a fan waits hours to meet you, that moment is not about you. It is about them. Look them in the eye. Ask their name. Use it. CJ named all three steps of Humanality without being asked: I see you, be where your feet are, and just ask.Legacy is not what you keep. It is what you give away. CJ gave away his first NBA jersey. He gave away his time, his stories, his books. He started a foundation so that kids growing up in Las Vegas have resources his family had to figure out alone. You cannot take it with you. That is the whole point. The magic was never in the socks. CJ wore the same pair of unwashed orange socks every time he played well in college. But the real lesson from his children's book is the one he figured out later: it was never the socks. It was the preparation, the film study, the discipline, the showing up. The socks just gave him permission to believe in himself.Your parents are your first coaches. CJ's parents talked him out of quitting overseas. They showed up to games in college, flew to NBA cities, and built the foundation underneath him before he ever knew he needed one. His whole message to his own three daughters comes from the same place: look people in the eye, say please, say thank you, and never stop.Great dads make great leaders. The greatest feeling CJ described had nothing to do with the NBA. It was watching his daughter block a volleyball. Legacy is not built on a court. It is built in the stands.Learn more about CJ Watson and his foundation at quietstormfoundation.org and connect with CJ Watson on LinkedIn.Most People Don't. But You DO!

A lot of people are breathing, but very few are really living. In this conversation, listeners are challenged to move beyond success and existing and to become leaders of character who get life right before it's too late.In this episode, Eric and Dr. John discuss:Shortness of life and living with purposeCrisis of character and influence in leadershipThe Gathering and holistic development of menTime and truth are the rare gifts of real mentorsThe Four Priorities and faith‑driven leadershipKey Takeaways:Life is fragile and short, and ignoring that reality leads to wasted years rather than intentional living. There is a vast difference between existing and truly living with purpose, and many high performers are stuck in mere existence.Character, not platform or talent, is the foundation of meaningful leadership at home, at work, and in the community. The rare people who offer both time and truth can radically alter the trajectory of a life; becoming one of those people is a high calling.A well‑ordered life flows from clear priorities—spiritual, personal, relational, and missional—that anchor leaders in something deeper than success.“There is a difference between existing and living. Most people that I know in our country exist; they have really not found life.” - Dr. John TolsonDr. John Tolson is a nationally recognized leadership mentor, speaker, author, and founder of The Tolson Group. Big Shot Bob is LIVE from San Antonio for the NBA Finals, and this episode has that energy all the way through. Robert Horry, seven-time champion, is on-site for Podcast Row — flying in with Danny Green and Malika Andrews — and the boys waste no time getting into it.   They kick things off breaking down the Spurs' Game 7 win over OKC — and yes, Chet Holmgren gets the full treatment. Rob says Chet looked like a guy who had something going on off the court, comparing him to a boxer who famously broke down mid-fight. Zero field goal attempts in the second half on a team that needed him? Hard to defend. Meanwhile, San Antonio's Slash Brothers (Castle and Harper) and a 20-point Champagnie performance pushed them through to the Finals.   Then it's on to the NBA Finals preview — Spurs vs. Knicks. Rob and Brandon both lay out their cases for each team, get into what KAT has to do defensively against Wemby, why Castle turning the ball over could be fatal, and whether the Knicks' 11-game playoff win streak means anything against a team this different. Rob calls it: Spurs in six. Brandon hedges: Spurs in seven. They both agree — the Knicks' best shot is pace, pace, pace.   They also get into the Miles Garrett trade to the Rams, A.J. Brown heading back to the Patriots, Apple TV potentially coming after NFL rights, and Wembanyama's looming extension — a $251M base deal that could hit $301M with incentives. The Alamo jokes write themselves.   Big Shot of the Week goes to Arnett Johnson — a man who was unhoused in Miami and still stopped everything to help a lost six-year-old boy find his way home. Real one. And Rapid Fire is BACK, and somebody ends it at the buzzer on Captain Crunch. No spoilers on who.   In this episode: Spurs Game 7 breakdown and the Slash Brothers' big night Chet Holmgren's disappearing act — Rob's full autopsy SGA takes accountability (the anti-Durant energy is real) Spurs vs. Knicks Finals preview — keys to the series for both sides Wemby's extension: $251M base, up to $301M — San Antonio better start saving Miles Garrett traded to the Rams and the rest of the NFL chaos Sean Sweeney named Orlando Magic head coach (Rob has thoughts) Robert Horry on playing with Shaq, Duncan, and Robinson — the eraser effect Big Shot of the Week: Arnett Johnson, Miami Rapid Fire trivia returns — Safety Dance, Captain Crunch, and New Edition drama   Subscribe for new episodes every week.
