Nick Wright shares his predictions for Week 17 of the NFL season including Josh Allen's Buffalo Bills taking on Jalen Hurts' Philadelphia Eagles, Caleb Williams leading the Chicago Bears against Brock Purdy's San Francisco 49ers, the Baltimore Ravens taking on the Green Bay Packers in a game where Lamar Jackson and Jordan Love's status is up in the air, and, sadly, his Kansas City Chiefs taking on Bo Nix's Denver Broncos. Mike Marcangelo and Dave Clarke return with a pivotal late-season episode of Missing the Point as the 2025 NFL season heads into Week 17 and the playoff picture finally comes into full focus. This show centers on two defining Week 16 victories that reshaped expectations across the league, the New England Patriots and the Chicago Bears both delivering comeback wins that solidified their status as legitimate contenders. The episode opens with a deep breakdown of the Bears’ dramatic win over the Green Bay Packers. Mike and Dave discuss Caleb Williams’ continued growth, his ability to respond in high-pressure moments, and why this performance felt like a franchise checkpoint for Chicago. They analyze the late-game execution, DJ Moore’s impact, and Ben Johnson’s offensive philosophy, while debating whether this Bears team is officially ahead of schedule or right on time. From there, the focus shifts to New England’s comeback victory over the Baltimore Ravens. Drake Maye’s performance takes center stage, from navigating early adversity to closing the game with confidence. The guys break down Maye’s decision-making, his chemistry with Stefon Diggs, and why this Patriots team looks more complete than it has at any point since the post-Brady rebuild began. They also examine lingering concerns such as turnovers, pass protection, and whether New England can consistently close out playoff-caliber opponents. Beyond the individual games, this episode zooms out to the broader NFL playoff race. Mike and Dave walk through AFC and NFC seeding scenarios, potential first-round matchups, and which teams are trending up or quietly slipping as January approaches. They debate momentum versus résumé, quarterback ceilings, coaching advantages, and why certain teams feel more dangerous than their records suggest. If you are following the Patriots’ rise, the Bears’ breakthrough season, or the evolving NFL playoff landscape entering Week 17, this episode delivers smart analysis, honest debate, and clear-eyed football conversation when it matters most. In today's episode, recorded 2 days before Christmas Day, we discuss the NFL playoff picture, and we make our picks for the week 17 NFL games. We talk about the Patriots' 28-24 comeback win over the Baltimore Ravens in week 16. We also get caught up with the Celtics and Bruins, play a round of Boston vs the world trivia, and finish up with a holiday themed "This or That" segment. We here at the Sports Theory Podcast want to take this opportunity to wish all of you a happy and safe holiday season. We appreciate your support, and hope you love the show!
It all started to fall apart once again as the Baltimore Ravens had another doubit-digit lead evaporate at home for the holidays against the New England Patriots. Leonard Raskin and Nestor lick the purple wounds of a mostly sickening Ravens season and pick up the pieces of parking Derrick Henry while John Harbaugh squirms in the aftermath of another embarrassing loss. The post Leonard Raskin and Nestor lick the purple wounds of a sickening Ravens season and home collapses first appeared on Baltimore Positive WNST.
There will be plenty of time in the offseason to send out report cards and walking papers but Luke Jones and Nestor begin to assess the totality of the efforts of the starters and star players of the Baltimore Ravens and wonder what Eric DeCosta and John Harbaugh see. And, more importantly, what Steve Bisciotti will see once the season ends and the bill comes due for a season of constant disappointment and under performance across the roster. The NFL Playoff Picture is coming into full view but teams really muddy-ed the waters with the results of week 16 across the NFL. The Jacksonville Jaguars dropped their statement win of the season on the Denver Broncos and now about 5 different teams can win the AFC's #1 seed. Trevor Lawrence and Co showed they are a legit Super Bowl contending team. The New England Patriots rallied behind Drake Maye and knocked off the Baltimore Ravens to stay a game ahead of the Bills in the AFC East. The Pittsburgh Steelers held on to win a whacky game in Detroit, earning our Hemingway moniker but today DK Metcalf found out that he will be suspended for the final two games of the 2025 NFL season. The Chargers, Texans and Bills all won over teams already eliminated so they could keep pace in the playoff race. And in the NFC, the Eagles took care of the Commanders on Saturday afternoon to feel better about their chances in the playoffs. The Bears had a miraculous comeback against the Packers to further solidify their claim to the NFC North throne. And the fellas breakdown the wild NFC South, a division that both teams, the Panthers and Buccaneers, both seemingly don't want to win. Jerry is back with the sounds of a local disaster as the Jets surrender eight sacks in a blowout loss and the Giants manage to fall to Vikings backup Max Brosmer after J.J. McCarthy went down. Gio's already scouting for the next Giants regime, falling in love with the "Jersey guy" energy of Jaguars DC Anthony Campanile, while the rest of the league provided pure confusion—from the Ravens inexplicably ignoring Derrick Henry during a fourth-quarter collapse to Mike McDaniel's bizarre post-game presser
Jerry is in for his first update of the morning, bringing all the sounds from a dismal Sunday that saw both the Giants and Jets spiral further into irrelevance. Elsewhere, the Patriots climbed toward the #1 seed with a win over a Ravens team that is now likely missing the playoffs with Lamar Jackson injured again, and the Steelers escaped Detroit on a controversial, game-ending offensive pass interference call. To cap it all off, the Jaguars stunned the Broncos in Denver.
