Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs don't lose games the way they lost on Sunday. Heck, they haven't lost many games at all — an NFL low 10 in the regular season over the past three years. So but to fritter away an 11-point lead in the fourth quarter, that's head-shaking stuff. We talked about what happened in the 36-35 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football with columnists Sam Mellinger and Vahe Gregorian and beat writer Herbie Teope. Some issues were as obvious as Clyde Edwards-Helaire's fumble while the Chiefs were driving late, and some less so. SportsBeat Live gave fans a chance to vent after the game, and we were right there with them. The conversation is now presented as a SportsBeat KC podcast. On today's episode, Jason and Producer Rob G kicks things off with by sharing their thoughts on the thrilling showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night. Lamar Jackson put up an all-time great performance, and he closed the game by converting one of the ballsiest 4th-and-1 calls you'll ever see. Even still, it's hard not come away from the game even more impressed by Patrick Mahomes. In a loss, Mahomes reminded the rest of the football world that it's probably going to take an otherworldly performance from his counterpart just to compete with him on an 'average' night. Mahomes vs. Jackson isn't a rivalry, it never has been. Later, the guys explain why the latest injury to Miami Dolphins franchise quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is just another sign that Miami needs to try and swing a trade for Deshaun Watson. If Miami thinks they have any legitimate shot of making a run in the AFC then they're going to need a quarterback who can compete with guys like Mahomes and Jackson. Plus, Rob G takes a verbal victory lap as his beloved Las Vegas Raiders improved to 2-0 on the young season. Say what you want about the Raiders season-long outlook, but right now, Derek Carr has the look of a darkhorse MVP candidate. Finally, Jason closes the show by admitting that his preseason pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars to win the AFC South may have been a little premature. The Jags are terrible offensively, and Trevor Lawrence looks exactly how you'd expect a rookie quarterback on a bad roster to look. Joe Biden now has an interesting cough situation during his speeches. Nicki Minaj has some words about American cancel culture. An incredible Pathead, Scott Martin, (@WeAreDOOOOMEDD on Twitter) put together a well-thought-out video montage of Pat Gray's new greatest hits album. There is another border crisis: Thousands of Haitians are camping and sleeping under a long highway overpass. The numbers show that ivermectin is proving to work in India: The country has one of the lowest vaccination rates in the world per capita and still has incredibly low COVID cases and deaths. Yet America's leadership is against it because Trump was/is for it. The guys who created the drug, William Campbell and Satoshi Omura, won the 2015 Nobel Prize for Physiology and Medicine. CNN's Don Lemon said, “They are stupid ... and it's time to start shaming them,” when talking about the unvaccinated. More On Trivia: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Baltimore Ravens. Patrick Mahomes was very complimentary of Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens this week off the field, but on the field, Mahomes has owned Baltimore so far in his career. The Chiefs appear to be healthy heading into the game while the Ravens continue to see injuries pile up. Both teams have players familiar with their opponents in Sammy Watkins, Justin Houston, and Chiefs' tackle Orlando Brown Jr. Two things we know for sure about Sunday night's game-Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy will be on the sideline, and Tyrann Mathieu will make his season debut! On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a few quick thoughts on the recent string of bad luck that has hit the Dallas Cowboys. In the last week, they've lost right tackle La'el Collins, wide receiver Michael Gallup, and pass rushers Randy Gregory and DeMarcus Lawrence. I don't know what they did to bring this bad juju on themselves but let's hope it wears off fast. Either way, so long as Dak Prescott remains upright, the Cowboys should still win the division. Moreover, it wasn't clear already, Urban Meyer publicly proclaimed that he will not be taking over as the next head football coach at USC. It really isn't all that shocking; Urban just isn't a fit for Southern California. Now that it's all out in the open, the Trojans can pivot and find themselves a real candidate. Later, professional sports bettor and Covers product manager Adam Chernoff swings by to discuss his 5-0 start in week 1 of the famed Circa contest, why so many bettors tend to overreact to what they saw in NFL week 1, why he's in on Teddy Bridgewater and the Denver Broncos this Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, why the Seattle Seahawks probably aren't as good and the Tennessee Titans aren't as bad as they looked last week, why the Los Angeles Rams blowing out a bad Chicago Bears team on Sunday Night Football shouldn't sway your opinion about them either way, how the Las Vegas Raiders' big win over the Baltimore Ravens might impact the line this week in their showdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who he likes in tonight's Thursday Night Football matchup between the New York Giants and Washington Football Team, and much more! September 15, 2021 - Season 12, Episode 23 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about all that has transpired with the Pittsburgh Steelers the last 48 hours. We talk some about the Las Vegas Raiders beating the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night before diving into what all Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin had to say on Tuesday during his weekly press conference. We go over the health update that Tomlin provided on Tuesday in addition to quickly looking at the injuries the Raiders had on Monday night.Tomlin gave us quite a bit to talk about on Tuesday and that includes his comments on the play of the offensive line against the Buffalo Bills in Week 1.On the heels of that, Alex and I discuss what the all-22 tape showed when it came to the Steelers offensive linemen on Sunday against the Bills.Alex and I then spend a lot more time on what jumped out to us when watching the all-22 tape from the Steelers win against the Bills. We also discuss if the Steelers trio of outside linebackers might just be the best trio that the organization has ever had.Alex and I are pleased to welcome back to the show the great Vinny Bonsignore from the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Vinny covers the Raiders for the outlet, and he'll be present for the Steelers Week 2 Sunday home game against Las Vegas. We spend roughly 30 minutes with Vinny previewing the 2021 Raiders, the Sunday game and much, much more.Vinny is kind enough to give us his early thoughts on the possible outcome for the Sunday game at the end of the interview. If not already doing so, please follow Vinny on Twitter at @VinnyBonsignore and thank him for appearing on the Wednesday show. You can also read Vinny's work online here: https://www.reviewjournal.com/staff/vincent-bonsignore/After our interview with Vinny is complete, Alex and I recap it and tie up other loose ends related to the Steelers and the show. As usual, we end this episode by answering several emails we have received from listeners.
